Unique

“Always remember that you are absolutely unique. Just like everyone else.” – Lots of different people through history apparently.

Everyone likes to think they are as unique as they can make themselves, they yearn to stand out from the crowd and make their mark on the world while caring for little beyond their own wants and needs. Sadly most force themselves to conform to what society wants them to be to fit into a mold.

Barry Allen, who would later in life become known as the Flash, had led an interesting life for someone who was so young. His mother murdered by his father, sent to live with a foster family from that day the courts decided a scared young boy was just making up stories to protect his father. He never let the world forget about it…

He never intended to be unique, he simply wanted the world to believe that the world was not as cut and dry, or black and white as so many wanted to believe. They labeled him so many different things…”freak, son of a murderer, weirdo”.

His good heart kept him strong and going, allowing himself to ignore the words thrown around much like the spit balls flung during a teachers lecture. Overtime he learned that the label “unique” was just that….a label. Something that could be very easily earned and not always in a good way.

He began to learn how to act “normal” to help shed the label of “unique” but a small part still lived on, and would always so long as his father remained behind bars.
