Title received, Tree Fathers champion (hidden)
You have been named champion of the Tree Father. This title grants a one time +2 to intelligence and willpower and any plant based spell is stronger.
He couldn’t believe it, a title! They were some of the hardest things to obtain in the world. They were usually given to those who did something extraordinarily hard like killing a special monster or conquering an especially hard dungeon and he got one as a level 1! Daved felt like jumping for joy but he had to distribute his points. He put 2 into intelligence bringing it up to 10, he added another 2 into constitution also bringing it up to 10 and then finally he put one in dexterity bringing it up to 8. Then he finalized the decision and saw his mana and his stamina go up to 100. Then when he climbed out of bed he felt lighter, “ 1 point in dexterity isn’t much he thought but when your score is low it feels amazing raising it by even 1 point” David thought to himself. He looked at his stats one more time before he went downstairs and he felt a surge of pride in his chest.

David got dressed and went downstairs and his parents and Cass’s parents were there along with Cass. She was packed and ready to go and so wasn’t David. They said their goodbyes and well wishes and then they went to meet the merchant. They met Alistair the merchant in the main square of town and he told them “ Usually there aren’t any bandits in this area but I do have 2 guards ready to defend us. If we get attacked you need to hide, no if ands or buts. It’s too dangerous to have you fighting bandits with no experience or training.” Cass and David agreed and they hopped in the back of the wagon. It was flanked by 2 guards riding horses, one of them had on chainmail and had a shortsword and shield. The other had a bow on his back, a quiver of arrows on his right hip is a quiver of arrows, on the left is a large dagger. The one with the sword introduced himself as Sean, and he introduced the other as Christof. “Christof doesn’t talk much so don’t take it too personally.” He told them. Christof grunted at that.

Alistair told them that it takes about 4 days to get to Crag’s edge so they settled in for the long ride. The Atmosphere on the first day was subdued a bit. Even though they were excited, the two young adults were also sad. They were leaving there village for the first time in their lives and they didn’t know if they should feel excited or sad. Cass’s and David’s sad attitude rubbed off on the merchant and his guards, They all ate lunch while traveling and no one talked much. David and Cass’s parents had to pack them hard tack for the travel cause normal food wouldn't last.
David sat in the back of the wagon chewing his rock disguised as a biscuit while Cass asked him questions about his class. “So what can a druid even do David?” He saw the Merchant and his guards perk up when the question was asked, obviously they saw the ceremony the day before and were just as curious as her. “Well based on the description I’ll be a bit of a fighter and a caster” answered David. “I started with 2 spells, Grasping roots which is a spells that can slow enemies. I also got nature's bounty which lets me heal myself or others.” “Wow” said Alistair. “Healing spells are rare, even more so on a class that’s a fighter too.
“What about you Cass? What can a knight do?” “Well”she says, “I got 3 skills. One gives me a bonus from wearing heavy armor, makes it harder for me to take damage. Then I also got a skill that lets me jump in front of an ally that’s about to take damage but it’s pretty stamina heavy, then finally I got a taunt skill it makes it so that monsters attack me and not my party members.” “All skills based on defense, are you gonna try and evolve it into a more offensive class later?” David asks his diminutive friend. “I’m not sure.” she replies. Just then Sean pipes up and says “wow a healer and a tank already, all you need is a damage dealer and a ranged type and you have a whole party.” “David and Cass both blush at the praise.
On the second day as they are traveling through a forest they spot a downed tree in the road ahead. “What do you think boys?” Alistair asks his guards. Sean tell him “ It looks like a great place for an ambush, but it could just be a fallen tree. We need to be careful and keep an eye out as we approach.” When they get closer David notices that the tree looks to have been cut near the base not knocked over but before he can shout it out 2 shadows leap out of the woods on either side of the wagon and start attacking the guards. The one attacking Christof is carrying 2 daggers, one in each hand and he isn’t giving the man time to draw his bow, so he pulls out his dagger and starts defending himself. The one attacking Sean is the largest man David had ever seen, he had to be 7 feet tall and he had a sword to match his towering physique. It was an ugly two handed thing.
David was watching Sean fight the towering man while Cass was watching Christof. The large man was making large arcing swings. It looked to David that the man had no idea what he was doing and he hoped his reach would see him to victory. Just then the other one fighting Christof shouted “ Stop fighting and drop your weapons or we’ll get you like fish. We just want your valuables.” Then he caught sight of Cass in the back. “ On second thought, we want your valuables and the girl. She could be worth something back at the market.” As he says this he looks at Cass hungrily and licks his lips.
While this was happening David is mesmerized by Sean, he is using his shield to push the heavy weapon his opponent is using to the side or he is dodging them. He never takes a hit directly on his shield. Then David sees the large man wind up for another hit but he raises his hand and thinks grasping roots and David feels his mana leave him to power the spell. As the big man swings he steps forward and as he does a root wraps around his foot and he loses his balance and falls over. This is enough of an opening for Sean to step forward and stab the man through his back. The man struggles, cries out hoarsely then falls silent. Just as David is congratulating himself he hears a loud cry and turns around.
Cass is watching Christof fighting the dual dagger wielding bandit and she is worried for the man. She can tell he is more comfortable with a bow than the dagger he is using. He is slowly being pushed back and covered in cuts. As he is backing away he trips over his own foot and falls onto his back. The bandit sees his opportunity and jumps forward to stab the guard in the throat but as his dagger is coming down he hears a scream. He turns his head and sees the girl before and all he can think about is stabbing the young girl over and over till she is dead. Then just as he is about to charge the wagon he feels a pain unlike any he had before. He looks down and sees the blade of a dagger sticking through his chest. The last thing he ever sees is that young girl staring at him as he falls dead.
After the fight is over both guards thank David and Cass respectively. It was the first time they had heard Christof speak and he had a surprisingly high voice and they both laughed about it after he left. “That was scary,” David said to Cass. “ Yeah, Christof almost died right in front of me, he would’ve if I didn’t activate my taunt ability. It was too close for comfort.” “ I hope the rest of the way is smooth sailing from here” David says to no one in particular. It takes the rest of the day to clear out the fallen tree. While the guards are clearing the road David checks his notifications.

David decides to bring his dexterity to 10. He then puts one point into Constitution, endurance, and intelligence bringing them all to 11. This brings his Health, Mana, and Stamina all to 110. David also sees that his Mana per minute went up because his willpower went up. “It would take me about 8 minutes to regen all my mana,” David thinks to himself. It takes the guards the rest of the day to clear the road enough for them to leave.
On the morning of the fourth day Alistair tells everyone “ we will be at Crag’s edge by evening. His proclamation comes to pass as just after they eat lunch they see the walls of the city. David is in awe as he sees how big the city is, you could fit all of Creek’s end in it and still have so much room. Then Cass points and David sees how the town got its name, where the fourth wall would be there is a massive canyon that must stretch at least 300 meters across. As they got closer to the wall David could see that it had to be at least 50 feet high. They got through the line into town pretty easy once Alistair showed the guards his merchants license. As they entered the city Alistair looked to the two would-be adventurers and said “Welcome to Crag’s edge.”
