Chapter 04- Inheriting the Star Breaker

Chapter 04- Inheriting the Star Breaker

“I, Aziel Amias, present myself to accept senior’s blessings!”, he shouted in a voice that seemed to shake even the heavens and the mighty earth itself.

For a moment there was absolute silence in the room.

Let alone air, not even the beating heart inside Fuyuki dared to make too much noise lest it disturbs the equilibrium maintained in the room.

Aziel had his head bent downwards in submission as he waited for the senior before him to hand over his inheritance to him.

The awkward silence in the room lasted for a good few minutes before a sound of laughter suddenly filled the atmosphere.

“Hahahahahaha”, tracing the laughter back to its origins, Aziel looked up at the mirror and found the formless shadow laughing at him. Aziel wanted to interrupt him and ask for the reason but in the end, he chose not to and continued observing.

His face, although looked pretty relaxed if one were to look at his hands he would find that they were right now balled into trembling fists!

“You? Someone like you? Keep dreaming!”, the shadow in the mirror spat out these words as he looked at Aziel with eyes filled with arrogance.

“Listen, kid, it’s not that this honored one doesn’t wish to hand over his legacy, it’s just that you are leagues beneath the qualifications that I have set for my successor! Go away and treat this incident as if it had never happened! Now go and hide this mirror, looks like I will have to be away from my wives for some more time. Go!”, the shadow ordered and prepared to leave but a sudden interruption stopped him in his tracks.

“That I cannot do”, the one who said these words was undoubtedly Aziel, the one who had just been shamed by someone from 1500 years ago.

“What?”, the shadow turned around and looked at Aziel with a displeased expression on his face.

“What do you mean by that? No matter what you do, I would never give you my inheritance! Go away, no matter how much you beg or… what are you doing!?”, the shadow was speaking when for some reason it felt a chill run down its spine.

Aziel who was kneeling on the ground just a few moments ago had now stood up and was walking towards the mirror at a slow pace.

“What are you…”, the shadow tried to speak again but this time too it was interrupted by Aziel.

“It’s fine if senior doesn’t wish to hand over his inheritance to me, I totally get how senior feels.”, Aziel said these words in an almost emotionless voice.

The entity in the mirror had a deep foreboding that something bad was going to happen to him today.

Aziel was now standing just a few inches away from the mirror.

He looked directly into the entity’s eyes and said,

“But the thing is, I personally would feel extremely bad if senior were to suffer from loneliness for god knows how long, the chances of senior not finding a successor in the next 1000 years or so is probably close to 0, no it should be 0, after all, I am one of a kind.”

Listening to his words the entity in the mirror shivered and looked at Aziel with fear.

“That’s why I have decided that if senior doesn’t hand over his inheritance to me… I will break this mirror and free senior from this world”, with a cheerful smile on his cute chubby face Aziel almost sounded like an Angel.

Yes, an angel of death to be exact!

“W-why!? W-why w-would you b-bother to d-do something l-like that?”, the shadow stuttered as it exerted almost all of its strength in talking to Aziel.

In response to his fearful question, Aziel said, “Why not? After all senior must have been an overlord from ancient times, so it makes me sad to see someone like senior living his life in such utter loneliness.”

As if he had reached the netherworld, the shadow started shivering and looked at Aziel with pleading eyes.

But Aziel, as if he hadn’t seen a thing continued talking in a relaxed voice.

“Sigh, it’s a pity that senior is unwilling to hand over his inheritance to me so it will forever be lost, but what can one do? This junior’s heart won’t be at peace as long as he sends senior to a state of eternal peace”

The entity in the mirror lost all his temper and started yelling!

“You! You villain! Trying to blackmail this king!? If I were alive I would’ve already killed you and annihilated your soul a thousand times and…”, the dignified one in the mirror started shouting at the top of his lungs as if he had been tricked and schemed against, as if he had suffered the biggest betrayal in the entire world.

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

But Aziel didn’t pay him any mind and started talking regardless.

“Yes it certainly is true that you would have killed me easily were you still alive but… and that’s a huge but… do you really think you would ever be able to annihilate my soul?”, he asked in a provoking manner and looked at the shadow with confidence in his eyes.

Listening to what he said the shadow all of a sudden became extremely silent and looked at Aziel with probing eyes.

Aziel on the other hand continued speaking.

“The thing is, there is a reason why senior’s attack didn’t work on me”, Aziel said in a mysterious voice and stopped abruptly.

‘A secret? What secret is he talking about?’, the shadow thought and waited for Aziel to reply but even after waiting for some time he didn’t get any reply from his side.

Impatiently, he asked, “What secret? Hmph! Don’t try to make a fool out of me, boy!”, even though he said so his voice had already calmed down a lot.

Right now what he was more interested in was finding out Aziel’s secret.

Aziel taking advantage of the current situation just slowly shook his head and in a grave tone, he said, “That is something I cannot say! Otherwise… otherwise, this entire town, no this entire country might get destroyed!”

Aziel’s voice full of fear and despair resounded in the shadow’s mind and a thought came over him, ‘This kid seems to be special! Although he is not that good right now, who knows what will happen in the future!’

Thinking along these lines the shadow was about to grant Aziel his power but then it stopped.

Noticing his behavior, Aziel just gave a faint smile and said, “It seems senior still doesn’t trust me enough, hah?”

Hearing his question the shadow gave a faint nod.

“It’s not that I don’t trust you, but it’s more like, the things you speak of… they sound a bit ludicrous… to me… so, I definitely cannot trust your words without any proof to back them”, the shadow showed its hesitance but at the same time, what his words meant was that if Aziel were to prove what he said then he will hand over his legacy to him.

After hearing his reply, Aziel stepped further away from the mirror and looked at the room’s ceiling.

And then with a loud voice, he shouted,

“The heavens and earth lay witness to what I said just now! If I, Aziel Amias have spoken any lie then the heavenly tribulation may come and obliterate my soul!’’, he announced and looked straight at the shadow in the mirror.

‘Well, I am not Aziel, so I guess I should be fine, hehehehe’, Aziel let out a laugh in his mind as he made the oath with a determined expression on his face.

But the shadow, unaware of his thoughts was taken aback and it finally realized something, ‘This boy is not simple!’

With this thought, the shadow nodded his head and looked at Aziel with an expectant look in his eyes.

“Okay, then bow your head and accept my inheritance”, the shadow declared and Aziel, according to his instructions bowed down his head.

Looking at his attitude, the shadow gave a light sigh and extended his palm toward Aziel.

A light blue halo covered Aziel and just after a few more moments it completely merged with Aziel’s body.

“Star Breaker arts…?”, Aziel mumbled in an almost indistinct voice and looked at the shadow with a look of shock in his eyes.

His heart was a huge mess and he was sweating rather profusely.

Looking at his condition, the shadow frowned and was about to ask Aziel the reason for his condition but before he could do so Aziel himself kneeled on the ground and banged his head against the floor.

“Senior Leon! Are you Senior Leon the Starbreaker!?”, he asked in a rather impatient voice.

Hearing what he said even the shadow was stupefied.

‘There is still someone who remembers my name? But before I left this place I made sure to erase everyone’s memory of mine! Then how!?’, the shadow thought and wanted to ask Aziel the reason but then he stopped remembering what Aziel had told him a few moments ago.

Even though he was an unparalleled existence under the sky, this didn’t mean he didn’t care about the common masses! No, he loved and cherished humans and would never do anything to harm them!

Also noticing that his ethereal body was now getting hazier as time passed, he just shook his head and decided to stay silent.

But his silence was enough for Aziel to know that the shadow indeed was the person he had thought himself to be, after all, the special art that Leon used to use was none other than the Star Breaker art!

Aziel was still immersed in his thoughts when Leon’s voice resounded in his ears.

“Don’t waste your time, I have only a few moments in this world”

Listening to him, Aziel straightened up and looked at Leon’s shadow.

“Good. This senior wasn’t able to detect it at first, but now that I am free of the inheritance I can feel it, my true body… has still not perished!”

As soon as Leon said this, Aziel found himself shaking with fear, terror, and… excitement.

Yes, excitement!

No matter how strong a human is, he or she shouldn’t be alive for more than 1500 years! This… can only mean one thing!

Leon has ascended to a higher realm!

A higher realm or divine realm was a common concept in many of the xianxia novels that Aziel had read in his past life, but never in his wildest dreams did he ever think that he would ever be in a situation where he would ever encounter an existence from the divine realm!

Looking at his expression, Leon sighed and said,

“The fact that I am alive alongside all of my wives makes me truly happy but there’s a thing that could make me even happier, Aziel, as my successor it is my expectation from you to go to the upper realms and meet me and my wives and tell them all, that even to this day, I still love them!”, with a passionate voice Leon’s shadow said his final words and disintegrated into bits.

The mirror too turned into fine dust and flew in the air as if it never existed, to begin with.

Aziel, who was still kneeling there recovered from the shock and was about to touch the remnants of the divine mirror but before he could, he suddenly felt his heart jump.

Terrified, he tried to run but before he could.

*Bang*!!!!

A bolt of lightning hit him head-on.
