Chapter 4: The First of Many Choices

Several hours after Himoto vanished in flames to who knows where, the guards who were at the docking bay finally finish the registration. One of them came up toward me and told me to hold out my hand. As I did that a spark flew from the guard hand shocking me. Startled at the sudden action I was about to complain he said “This spark will allow you to access most of the system that you are cleared for. You can at the moment access anything below level 3 clearance which includes most terminal in the city and anything outside of it. Also to raise you level of clearance you need to contribute to the city and then have the approval of at least one of the Head Guardians.”

When he finish giving this tiny bit of information he led me toward an exit and as we approach it a purple portal appeared. The guard didn’t react to it and told me to walk through it and when I come out of it from the other side I will be in my assigned room when I am at the Tower.

I started to walk again toward the portal and as I was about to pass it I whispered to myself “Well here goes nothing”

Then suddenly I was surrounded by a bright light I then reappeared in a medium size room with a small bed and a simple nightstand next to it. To my left was a closet which I check to see if anything was inside and when I checked I saw a simple white trench coat, some white pants, shirts, a set of boots and a strange helmet. I picked up the helmet and to a look at it and wonder why was it there.

As I was examining it, I heard someone knock and went toward the door. When I opened the door I saw Himoto standing there.“Well hello there Omega liking the room so far? It usually appear however the owner would like it as. Now then, let get to the point today will be a simple rest day and starting tomorrow you will be following this schedule.”

She handed me a piece of paper with a schedule on it, I skimmed over it until I read that at the end of the week I had to teach my Cyro element to others Guardian. Confused I asked her about this teaching sessions.

This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road; report any instances of this story if found elsewhere.

“Ah those sessions will be mostly toward the others mentors as you are still new to being a Guardian. Since you are the only one who at the moment can control this Cyro element and we would like to relearn how to use this element again.”

Shocked at this sudden revelation I said “I am the only one with this element?” To which she affirmed again and then it suddenly hit me “No, this can’t be. There used to be a whole cities of Cyro-user if I am the only user then what happen to the cities on the polar region?”

To this revelation Himoto said “They were most likely destroyed as the last record of any activity in the polar region where nearly half a century ago.”

At this I slumped to the ground in despair that the cyro-user were wiped out until I came back. I thought ‘What was I going to do now? I can’t see how I am going to do this without help. Teaching this element require a lot more than just a teacher. Perhaps it better if I refused this request.’

I then felt a warm hand on my shoulder and I look up to see Himoto with a look of understanding and then said “Stand up Guardian this isn’t the end from what I see. You can be last of the cyro-user if you refuse to teach us, or you can be the precursor of all the cyro-user from here on out.”

Confidence surged from me she said this. I then made up and told her “I want to make a change to the schedule…”
