Compendium of Knightly Orders: Lightning Knights
Description: A order of knights who immolate the Hero of Lightning Mundus. Their armor looks like a collection of metallic feathers enchanted to electrocute the user. They pride themselves for waiting for the perfect time to strike and destroying their foes utterly. Sometimes these knights are referred to as moon knights referencing the now childless Lunar house Mundus hailed from.
Aspirants – When a man enters the chapter of Lightning they are given a single piece of armor. This piece shocks them constantly. They are trained to resist the pain and over time they gain skills that increase their resistance to shock damage. With every dead they commit for the chapter they are given another piece of armor. Only when they have a complete set are they allowed to attempt the trials to become a full knight.
Trials to become a knight – Every chapter has their own set of rituals dedicated to raising an aspirant to a brother knight. In the case of the Moon knights may only raise an Aspirant to a full knight during the full moon. It is believed that during this time Mundus is watching. A full knight strikes the Aspirant 12 times once for every wound Mundus took when fighting the demon lord of his time. All electrical burns are left untreated the scares are considered marks of honor. If the Aspirant manages to survive all twelve bolts and remain on their feet, they are full knights by the next morning.
Moon Knights – These knights are patrollers and bounty hunters during times of peace. No thief feels safe knowing a Moon Knight has visited their village. They often change out of their aspirant armor and wear a set made from the metallic feathers of a thunder bird. Like a aspirant their armor is enchanted to shock the user. There are no knights in the kingdom with a shock resistance equal to a Moon knight. The hero of lightning would be proud.
Squad Captains – Depending on the number of knights available they will divide into squads mixing veterans with neophytes to train the new recruits quickly. The captain plays a role of both a teacher and a commander. Though not always an elite knight they are always experienced in combat many having fought in a demon lord war or in a minor war against another chapter over land.

Elite Knights – They aren’t always leaders, but they hold a special place within the order. Chapter masters must always be an elite knight often having conquered a dungeon and claimed the treasure for the chapter or themselves. They are the most powerful units within a chapter and embody the best of the chapter. They are the closest thing in this world to the ancient heroes of old. They train most of their lives to achieve their power and emulate the journeys of their hero often making pilgrimages to the ancient battle of their hero and the demon lord of the time.
Support Unit Medic – Some aspirants have some training in medicine and are trained as medics in the chapter. They are just as well trained as any knight. They are the first knights killed in combat. The red they wear on their uniform might as well be a bullseye.
Support Unit Moon Warden – Some knights go back to the academy and are trained as lore wardens. These knights have critical knowledge of monster lore and tactics that can improve a squad’s survivability in a dungeon. Dungeons often single them out and kill them. Squads take great pains to keep their support units safe.
Chapter Masters – The head of the chapter and an elite knight. They choose who leads the squads organize the men and runs the day to day of the chapter. When war occurs, they wield the sacred artefacts of their hero into battle. Some believe they become the hero for a short time while wearing their artefacts.
Priorities – The Lightning or Moon Knights will pick out elite units of enemy squads and slay them in a synchronized attack with other squads. They leave the fodder for lesser chapters. They have a rivalry with the Dracul knights and hate the Leonidas knights. They often check children for blood relations to house Lunar. They aspire to find a long-lost member and reinstate the ancient house.
Allies – Dracul, Might, Dragon, and Pheonix they may have few allies, but they are strong.
Enemies – Leonidas, Moles, Horsemen, and Sun
Fortress Locations – They are stationed in the far east in the ancient Lunar citadel. Once a ruined stone castle destroyed by the Sun Knights during the assassination of the Lunar family. They live there waiting for the day they can guard a member of the House Lunar.
Now – It is said they located a member of the house and they live there in the Lunar Citadel. No one has seen the descendant of the great house. Some claim it’s a myth while others claim the Moon Knights are up to something. Either way lightning bolts constantly strike around the fortress. Colored Purple just like the ancient hero Mundus.
