Chapter 04 - Burning

Chapter 04 - Burning

I could smell the smoke coming from all the burning flames.

It was the aftermath of the massacre, the screaming became fainter and fainter, mere echoes from a distance. I couldn't see that much anymore, my face was filled with blood and bruises from all those beatings.

Everything was dimly lit, I could still see people running and soldiers raising their swords chasing down those that tried to escape and slashing them in their torsos enough to kill them in a single blow.

I could see fire in the distance.

Captain Horo ordered his men to burn down the piled up bodies of men, women, elderly and even children.

As his soldiers continued to do whatever they could to keep the flames , I looked as I noticed that he was watching with such amusement, you could see he was enjoying just by the way he smiled.

He smiled as he ordered the massacre.

What kind of fucked up man is that?

I finally understood Fred.

This was why he wanted freedom.

I finally understood that this was more serious than I ever thought it was.

I was blinded, thinking that if we simply obeyed, let ourselves be enslaved for the rest of our lives we could live without thinking about losing our lives.

I was wrong.

No matter how obedient we are, we are the weak. We are the ones from below. The strong will prey on the weak, the weak always loses.

I could feel the anger rising in my body.

I was frustrated, I wanted to kill them, I wanted to change fate so badly.

But I can't do anything about it.

Stolen from its rightful place, this narrative is not meant to be on Amazon; report any sightings.

Maybe if I hadn't stopped Fred, I would've joined them in the afterlife.

Just then, a sudden thought filled my head.

Dark thoughts invaded my mind and it was getting louder and louder, desperately calling me, telling me to take revenge.

I'm not usually vengeful, and dark thoughts don't usually get their way to me.

“Let them pay for what they've done” a voice called out. It sounded dark, demonic but also robotic on its way.

It's not a thought, It's clearly a voice.

Seconds later, the voice disappeared, as if it didn't call out to me.

Maybe I'm hallucinating or maybe not, I don't know.

But it's right, I need to do something about it.

The sun was beginning to rise, the burning stopped and hints of smoke were still visible since the soldiers left hours ago, everything was quiet.

All I could hear were the strong winds happening every dawn.

I gathered whatever strength I have left to at least get up and stand. Thankfully I had enough to walk normally.

My body was covered with blood, bruises and small cuts from top to bottom.

I walked around and as I did, tears began to collect in my eyes, these people are all dead. People I grew up with, learnt with, played with.

I couldn't find my mom or my best friend.

They were all piled up, burnt to the point that I couldn't perceive whose body was who's.

And it pained me to think that I couldn't give them a proper burial, but regardless I'll bury all of them.

I dropped to my knees, apologizing to everyone, they suffered, they were brutally slaughtered just because they wanted to live normal lives.

I don't blame Fred for what he did, I know he did it, because we might have had a chance to escape to a better life.

Things need to change.

The voice is right, they need to pay for what they've done.

I was motivated.

The strong will always prey on the weak, that's the truth.

It's cruel and that's why I'll change that.

I'll build a world of equality, I will bring humanity back to its former glory, back to the golden era.

A strong motivation to change the world surged through me. I didn't like it, I knew it's gonna be hard but if I don't do it, no one will.

I will challenge the king of Soria, I'll take his throne and I'll reshape it to an empire that brought peace and order to this world.

I will avenge my mother, I will avenge my people.

Humans, droids or even ambients, if they get in my way, I'll make sure they won't live to see another day.

When the sun rose, I had finished burying everyone. I tended to my wounds, and I finished praying for everyone. I changed, I was a new person with a new goal.

This twelve year old boy will change everything.

I put on fresh new clothes and left the place. As I walked under the sun, I was more and more motivated to fight.

But first I need to prepare myself. This body is too young and fragile, I lack combat knowledge and even the skill to lead. How could I fight if I don't know how to do any of this?

I walked endlessly, seemingly head to nowhere, I crossed through forests, meadows and swamps but I seem to have no destination.

2 days have passed, yet I don't know what I'm looking for

What the hell, Aamon. I thought to myself

Congratulations you just got us lost I added. It seems like I've gone crazy.

Suddenly, something fast was approaching towards me, I couldn't see it and it was way too fast. A monster? No, a man.

A man charged towards me and stroked his fists clearly attacking me.

Everything went slow and I just kind of reacted by dodging his attack. He was quick too, because he launched another attack, intending to hit my chest.

This time I couldn't react in time, but I did block it with my elbow. It hurts.

“Why are you following me?” He asked.

Standing right infront of me, was an old man clearly in his early 60s, he had silver hair, slicked back, a full silver beard, blue eyes, he was fairly muscular for his age. He wore an all white attire and he was armed with all sorts of blades.

This old man terrified me.

“WAIT NO I WASN'T FOLLOWING YOU” I answered his questions, my voice clearly trembling.

“Oh ok, my bad little boy” he replied with such calm, his terrifying aura disappeared.

“Who are you?” I asked him.

He smiled, “my name is Tristan, Tristan Lumberg, you can call me Tristan little boy” he answered.

This old man….
