I started my experimenting with what I was the most certain that would work, I tried changing my shape. Since I could condense my magic to form magic vacuums to suck magic from outside my domain, and I could pretty much freely move it around my domain, I couldn't think of any reason why I shouldn't be able to move my center, or the most magically dense part of me, upwards. And if my domain was determined by the magic, which it probably was since it grew when I gained more magic, then the shape of the domain might change along with the way I shaped my magic.
It didn't work how I hoped. I managed to move the concentration of my magic around, successfully lifting up my center to be high above the ground. I had hoped doing that would have somehow changed the shape of my domain, but unfortunately my domain remained spherical and didn't move. It was... dissapointing, but no matter. I had my other ideas to try.
Next I tried something that was a bit more difficult. I relaxed, and let my magic flow to its natural position, with my core being in the absolute center of my domain. Back to my former state, I grabbed all of my magic, and forced it to its extreme. I condensed all of it to an infinitely thin rod the length of my domain, and my view shifted. For a slight moment I knew nothing, felt nothing, as my domain morphed to a rod thinner than an electron. Then I panicked, and pushed my magic to its former shape. I gladly accepted the vast amounts of information returning to my mind. I had been afraid that I'd killed myself for a second there, but back to my former self, I realized that I had managed to successfully change the shape of my domain. It was just a tad more fiddly than I had hoped.
I was left with a big question with this. The shape and size of my domain was seemingly determined by the shape and amount of my magic. But what made my magic mine? It couldn't just be magic that was in my domain, since the domain was determined from my magic. If that were true, my magic would be determined by my magic, which felt like it should be a paradox. But the question did give me hope, because if my magic wasn't determined by my domain, then it wouldn't necessarily have to be in my domain. It meant that my ideas could work, if only I figured out how. But I could do that later, now I would shape my domain to be absolutely perfect.
----------------------------------------
I had been experimenting, for hours, days, or maybe just minutes. I wasn't sure since I hadn't kept track of time, and with my increased magic, I could feel my thoughts move faster. The time didn't really matter though. No people had tried to kill me in the time, and I had finally managed to get my shape right.
I could get my domain to be in the shape of a capsule maybe a bit over a kilometre tall, and a tenth of that wide. And at the top of that domain would be my core, in the shape of a teardrop with the pointed end facing downward.
As for the reason why my magic determined the shape of my domain, and why some magic was mine, and other magic wasn't, I had come up with only one reasonable answer. The magic that belonged to me, was magic that I could directly manipulate. New magic would become mine when I, and only I, could manipulate it as I wished. And finally, my domain was a space where all magic and matter was directly under my control.
Those three simple rules were the product of painstakingly following the scientific method, continually forming new hypothesis and ideas that might prove them wrong, followed by stalking the locals use of magic and hoping they might do something that would give me useful information. More importantly, the rules fit with almost everything that so far had happened. The reason why I could get more magic by vacuuming it from around me, was because I indirectly controlled the magic outside of my domain. Then the magic would enter my domain, where I could control the new magic however I wanted with my old magic. It would then be mine by every manner that counted, and so it would be mine.
The same worked with how the magic in animals, humans and even cells worked. When one of them entered my domain, they would be the ones who can control their magic, not me. So they technically wouldn't even be in my domain, even though I could still sense them. They wouldn't enter my domain until I killed them, or managed to get all their magic out of them against their will. Then I would be the new owner of that magic. And with more magic, I could manipulate the matter and magic in a larger space, so my domain would grow.
The three rules even explained how the two magicians had almost killed me. Using the magic that was under their control, and thus outside of my domain, they had overpowered my hold on some magic, and forced it outside of my domain. Thus I couldn't manipulate the magic in any way, so it couldn't be considered to be mine anymore, and with less magic, my domain would shrink.

They weren't perfect explanations however, as they left me with questions like how was I born, or why could I sense the stuff in my domain, but that small fact didn't make what I had figured out wrong, and it didn't mean that I couldn't use my newly found knowledge. Infact, the idea for my teardrop shaped core came from this theory. If I wanted, I could have my domain be in any shape imaginable if I uniformly spread my magic in that shape. I even tried it, and it worked. But if I did that, I couldn't form the vacuum that continuously gave me more magic, nor could I have the majority of my magic safely out of human reach in a single dense core. The teardrop allowed me to be in the approximate shape of a tower, while still getting the benefits of a dense core.
Armed with my newly formed three laws of magic, I had been positively bursting with different ideas to try. Now that I was satisfied with the shape of my domain, I moved on to trying them out. I knew that building my future tower wouldn't be too difficult now that I could change the shape of my domain, so I decided to go with the two other most important steps in my project.
I would figure out how to make my magic usable to humans in a way that it stayed as my magic, and I wanted to figure out everything that humans could do with their magic. If only I had test subjects. Then I remembered the maybe village that I had felt earlier, and painstakingly shifted my domain back to a sphere. Once again, I could feel a few small houses at my border. I hadn't managed to figure out how to properly move around my entire domain, but I did manage to stretch it more towards the village, covering well over a dozen small houses, and at least twenty individual people along with multiple of their pets. It was time to find out what I could really do. Maybe I could give the people's pets more magic than the people themselves had.

Evelyn was standing on a small wooden box, in the middle of her small village, banging two pieces of firewood together. She had asked around the village if people had felt the same pressure she had a while ago. At first she had been relieved at their questioning stares, thinking that maybe the spirits domain hadn't reached the village after all. But, she decided to make absolutely sure, so she continued asking.
It was her childhood friend, Audrey, who told Evelyn that he, along with his family, had infact felt it. Audrey lived with his family at the edge of the village, so Evelyn still had hope that maybe only a small portion of the village was within the spirits domain.
Having asked a few more people, Evelyn, along with Audrey, managed to figure out that only a small portion of the entire village was in immediate danger. So there she was, trying to get everyone's attention so that she could tell them that they shouldn't walk down the road, and that they might even have to move out of the village.
"If I can't walk dow' the road, the' how am I supposed to eat?" One old man grumbled, causing Evelyn to sigh.
"I am not telling you that you can't walk down the road, you are free to do so. I'm just telling you that it is dangerous. Everyone in the village should be aware of the danger, so instead of grumbling about something I can't help you with, go tell others about the news." Evelyn nearly shouted for what felt like the tenth time.
"And who gave you the right to order us around?"
"I am under orders of priest Thomas of Valessa to inform you of the danger. I've done my job, so I am going to sleep." Evelyn said. She had had an exhausting morning, and though she hadn't had lunch yet and it was already well past midday, Evelyn wanted some rest.
She had already made sure, that while her small hut was close to the spirits domain, it was outside of it. She could rest, then go back to the city for a late lunch, or dinner. Or maybe she could ask to eat at Audrey's. It was the future Evelyn's problem, she thought moments before she closed her eyes and fell asleep.

I had been looking for suitable test targets in the few buildings I had access to. I found a cat sleeping under a porch, which was perfect since it wouldn't move during my experimenting. I also wanted a human subject, not just animals, and for some reason there was nobody in any of the houses. Maybe everyone was in a portion of the village outside of my reach.
Only seconds after that thought, a familiar human walked to a house just barely within my domain, and went to sleep. The universe truly had blessed my luck, since if I hadn't expanded my domain more towards the village, I wouldn't have found the person's house, and for us, it was personal. They had been the one to find me, they had been the one to bring the would be killers to me, and was no doubt an evil person. But I had them to thank for my massive growth, so I wouldn't kill them, or even hurt them. But I wouldn't feel bad on trying different experiments on them.
I needed something better to call them. I didn't want to invade their privacy and feel their gender, I wasn't a pervert, so I'd give them a gender neutral name... Evil evilsson... Maybe that was too ridiculous. I should just call them Testy the First, yeah, that's better. They were the first person to find me, and my first human test subject.
I was left with a single question, how could I give them magic that remained mine.
