After thing calmed down some, David left and Grim’s usual doctor came to check on grim. Finding him changed like the others and apparently unharmed left to check on others. Leaving Grim to think about the future, his future in particular.
If he was really healed, then it would throw a lot of his plans out of the window. Not that he was unhappy to live he thought, but it left him without any clear plan. Grim was smart, not uber genius level or he wouldn’t be stuck here only getting buy as a medical oddity and a few patients he had registered. Before he was stuck using his laptop to learn and experience the outside world, too weak to even sit up without assistance.
At worst they’d throw him out on his ass with his few meager possession, at best they would put him back in foster care. He shuddered at the thought, I’d rather the cancer came back. Really the only thing else swirling around his mind was what David said about the old man dying. “How come he was the only one to kick the bucket with everyone else better, the fact he died makes it look like he was responsible.
Deciding that this was going to be his only shot, grim weakly grabbed a hoodie, one of the few pieces of clothing he had. Throwing it on and grabbing his phone from its hiding place in the bed side nightstand. He had to plead for so long to get David to get it for him and pay him back with PayPal. The doctors wouldn’t even listen to him saying he had no need for it as everyone that he needed to talk to was here.
Pulling the hood up, Grim snuck carefully out of his room and down the stairs to the main morgue on the floor below. It had only been a few hours since this had all happened, grim had heard a few nurses talking about how tomorrow the CDC and FBI were sending teams over to investigate, and the exits were barricade. So, tonight was the only chance he would have.

There wasn’t anyone guarding the door when Grim sneaked in, carefully closing the door with a click. Grabbing onto the doorframe Grim panted trying to not to pass out. Glancing around there was only one corpse that seemed different from the rest draped in a bedsheet instead of a body bag Wobbling over, Grim hesitated. Should he really mess with this person remains, over just a hunch? Ahh screw it, He thought pulling the sheet back.
Underneath was an old man, dressed in an expensive looking suit and well-kept hair and nails. Looking him over Grim couldn’t find any obvious reason that he died. Checking through his pockets Grim found nothing out of the ordinary besides a large lump of cash in the man’s wallet. Who uses Cash nowadays, Shoving the wallet and cash back into the old man’s pants with disgust Grim pondered his next move. Well, I have enough money squirreled away to get me buy for a while but then what. To be shoved back with some people to freeload off of me.
While lost in thought from the corner of his eye Grim saw something glimmer. Noticing for the first time a small ring on the finger of the old man. An odd greenish silver band with a black stone that was polished instead of cut set in it seem to call to him. Pulling off the ring off caused Grim to call out in pain as the IV entry point ripped open again spraying a few drops of blood down his arm and onto the ring.
Sinking into the metal this blood disappeared, leaving grim quickly turning over the ring puzzled as from the center of the stone extremely fine purple script fades into sharpness, sending small static tendrils over the ring and along Grim’s skin. Shit I can let it go, His muscles locking as like a jet of blood from a vein he could feel himself getting weaker along with a sense of loss as the ring grew till the whole room lit up and then suddenly there were only corpses in the room.
