It was a few days after he had defeated Calamity Ganon. Link was relaxing, but he quickly noticed that something was wrong. The earth began to rumble and the air began to warp in the distance. Link steadied himself, wary of a potential approaching monster, but nothing came forth. The rumbling ceased, and Link pulled the Master Sword back from its sheath. He looked in every direction, trying to find where the rumbling had come from until he spotted a massive temple floating in the distant sky.
Link placed the Master Sword back into its sheath and hopped onto his horse, making his way toward the ancient structure. It took him several minutes, but eventually, he reached the strange building. He pulled on a vine hanging off the temple, testing its stability, and it held firmly to the temple. Link climbed up the vine, and when he made it to the top he found that it didn’t seem out of place in Hyrule. He couldn’t read any of the inscriptions on the temple, but other than that it fit in very well with the surroundings.
He entered the temple, wondering what could have brought it here when suddenly he was ambushed by a pair of wolf-like creatures. He quickly pulled out the Sheikah Slate and attempted to identify them with his camera. Instead of showing the names of the odd creatures, it simply said unidentified. The camera then began to glitch out as Link started backing away from the strange creatures. He pulled the Master Sword from its sheath, slashing warning strikes with the blade. The wolves leaped back and growled, wary of the soft blue glow. Link walked forward and slashed at them again, managing to hit one of the beasts this time. He cut a deep gash across where one of its forelegs met its body, and the limping beast continued to walk towards him. He continued to cut deep gashes into its now blood-soaked fur, waiting for the creature to disappear in a puff of purple smoke like creatures typically did. When the beast finally collapsed, covered in gashes from continuous slashes, it simply lay there. Dead.
Link sheathed the sword and picked up the corpse, wondering how it would fit in his inventory. He attempted to put it into his inventory and it went right in. He opened his inventory, attempting to see if his inventory would be able to identify the wolf-like creature. To his dismay, it could not, and it was listed as “G̵̳̏ŭ̷̯a̷̛̘r̷̲̂d̵̝͋ ̷̮̋H̶̻̉o̸̲̒ṷ̷̎n̴̝̋d̶̛͕ ̴͔̂C̵̱͐ọ̶̔r̵̯͠p̶̱̀s̷̹͝e̶͚̒”. He couldn’t read the strange letters and decided to close the inventory menu and search for the other mysterious beast. It struck out with a seemingly mechanical limb, and Link blocked with his shield. He responded to the beast's attack with a thrust to the chest, and the creature was killed then and there. Just like the other beast, the corpse didn’t disappear in a puff of smoke. He picked it up and placed it in his inventory, not bothering to see if the text had changed.
As Link delved deeper into the temple, he came to a large open room with a single pedestal in the center. A twirling, multicolored orb floated above it. There was a strange circle of symbols Link didn’t recognize surrounding the pedestal, and he was unaware of what they might do. The abundant plant life seen on the outside of the temple had long since disappeared, and he didn’t know if he should proceed any further. His Sheikah Slate pinged, signifying something, but when he checked the device it didn’t show anything of note. Link slowly walked up to the pedestal, but didn’t make it far before the strange circle of runes began glowing a soft red in some places and a bright green in others. Then he felt its presence behind him.
Link turned around to see an amalgamation of plant and monster looming over him with its hulking form, standing nearly three times the height of a man. Its skin appeared as a mottled patchwork of green, brown, and gray, resembling the bark of a gnarled tree. Thick, vine-like tentacles extend from its central mass, each tipped with a fanged maw, ready to snatch and devour. The creature's eyes, glowed a menacing yellow, peering from beneath a protective hood of rigid, leafy growths. Its body emitted a faint, sickly-sweet aroma that he couldn’t even guess the implications of. Link shivered as he saw the absurd, otherworldly beast, a feeling of dread washing over him.

The runes ceased glowing, and the beast reared back, leaving a slimy trail in its path. Link noted he should avoid the greenish slime, as it was probably not good for the health of a Hylian. The beast whipped one of its slimy tentacles at him, and he dodged it, knowing the otherworldly creature was not going to be easy to defeat. He backed away and sheathed his sword, using the Sheikah Slate to create a bomb to throw at the creature. He chucked the glowing blue sphere, thinking that the creature wouldn’t know what to do, but it dodged to the side. Link detonated the explosive device in midair, catching the entrance in the blast. A cloud of dust fell upon the green beast, along with several pieces of debris.
Link wiped some sweat off his brow, bringing a gleaming golden bow out of his inventory. He waited a few seconds for the dust to clear before firing an arrow of light at the plant monstrosity. It took the blow full force, screeching in sizzling agony as it realized what the projectile was made from. It launched an attack of its own, opening several of its toothed maws and spewing a noxious green gas from it. The gas caused Link to almost become sick to his stomach, however, he pushed through the feeling and activated the Stasis effect of his Sheikah Slate, pausing the creature’s attack. He pulled out a different bow from his inventory, this one made of ornate wood. He loaded in a bomb arrow and fired it straight down one of the floral monstrosity’s mouths. The Stasis ended soon after, and two of its mouths exploded into gorey chunks, filling the air with the scent of blood. The third arrow flew in between the tentacles and blew a hole in the top of the beast’s head. The creature stopped the spray of its noxious gas, peering at Link with a hateful glare. The massive creature was surprisingly fast and charged at Link. It quickly reached him and attempted to strike him with its tentacles. Link ducked under one and quickly exchanged his Forest Dweller’s Bow for the Master Sword, slicing another slimy tendril that came his way clean off the creature. He quickly grabbed it and stuffed it into his inventory, ducking under more tendrils and dodging to the side. It backed away a few feet, beginning to spew the noxious gas again. Link avoided it and used his wooden bow to fire ice arrows at the beast, two hitting the creature and rendering portions of it immobile. The third hit the ground and froze some of the strange slime that had coated the creature. The creature attempted to use its unfrozen limbs to move across the ice-slicked floor but Link quickly fired off a fire arrow at the creature. All 3 of them hit the creature, and the slimy coating turned against the creature. While it was slipping across the icy ground it burst into a raging inferno, screeching once more at the excruciating pain before eventually being disintegrated by the blaze that coated it.
Link sifted some of the ash through his hand, letting it fall to the ground with the realization that he had defeated the strange creature without leaving any trace of it behind. But through the adrenaline haze, he remembered the tentacle that he’d placed into his inventory. He opened his inventory, selecting the tentacle and looking at its description.

He didn’t know what he could possibly do with the otherworldly beast’s tentacle, but he figured the orb would give him more information as to both varieties of otherworldly creatures. He deactivated the inventory screen and turned back to face the orb. It glimmered in the light of torches and burning slime. Link was enraptured by the orb and walked forward. In his hypnotized state, he reached out to grab the orb. He held it up to his face, holding it in one hand. The Sheikah Slate pinged an inane amount of times, but Link didn’t notice. The entirety of his focus was on the orb, which slowly emitted a liquid metal that was coating Link’s body. The Sheikah Slate pinged faster and faster, louder and louder, until his whole body was coated by the iridescent metal. The pinging stopped, and suddenly Link found himself in a pure white space.
