Chapter 9: Supplementary Lessons

Chapter 9: Supplementary Lessons

The following lessons and training were as followed: More endurance training, Heavenly Laws and Techniques, combat training with weapons, and lastly, a supplementary lesson on the worlds below the Heavens.

Long Tian suffered but pulled through endurance training and combat. He passed the standard proficiency test on Heavenly Laws and Techniques, and now he's struggling with basic world history. Unlike all of his other training, it appears that Long Tian isn't well versed in scholarly topics. Even the most basic ones.

This left him slightly depressed, but General Kwan-Ti assured Long Tian that it was fine considering his background.

"Despite my appearance, one would think that I was all about fighting." Laughed the four-armed giant, "But little did they know that it was true way back when I was young. I too struggled in scholarly lessons. Nonetheless, I continued forth, because knowledge is power. Heavenly laws and techniques were founded from these lessons! Maybe not in this particular lesson, but it's not far off!"

Long Tian nodded, "En."

"You can read and write. Copy down what I place upon this board."

Kwan-Ti waved his hand across a white stone board and characters started to form as he starts his lecture. Long Tian kept pace with the lecture, furiously writing notes in his notebook. After a long period, the lecture was finished and Long Tian had his head on the desk. His hands and mind weren't in good shape.

"Hmm... Take a break. You're nearing the end of this basic training session."

"Yes..."

Divine energy circulated throughout Long Tian's entire body, healing him within seconds. Except for his brain, which appeared to be dazed. Long Tian lifted his head from the desk and reviewed the contents of the notes that he had taken.

There were a total of nine worlds below the Heavens. Each world was boundless, with its own stars and planets beyond. There were also smaller worlds, but they tend to be isolated from the rest and are normally the domains of the Devil race or other powerful beings.

There are three types of cultivation sources:

Earthly Qi emanated from each of those worlds. Those energies are vital for some plants and animals, but it's the most important to cultivators. Cultivators had learned to harvest those energies into their own bodies, removing all impurities from the body and extending their life. However, there were other types of energy that cultivators can cultivate.

In the past, it was extremely rare for any cultivators to cultivate Heavenly Qi. Since the energy stems from the Heavens itself, it was the most potent out of all of them. Due to the Fate seal starting to unravel, the sealed gods had constantly caused turbulence throughout the Heavens, causing heavenly energy to descend into the lower realms. Cultivators would then cultivate the Heavenly Qi and breakthrough bottlenecks allowing them to soar in power and further defy their fate. With more and more cultivators defying their fate, the Fate seal started to unravel faster than the Heavens can repair it.

That's why Long Tian is tasked with punishing cultivators and deterring them from defying their fate.

Lastly is Demonic Qi, which is used mostly by Devil Practitioners, cultivators that often use cruel methods to gain power. Unlike other methods that cultivators practice, a demonic cultivator would keep the demonic energy within them and eventually become one with the cultivator.

Compare to other cultivators, the energy they cultivate would flow into and out of them. Eventually, like a river, the inward and outward flow of qi would erode their 'mortality' and prolong their life.

Demonic cultivators on the other hand would simply store the Demonic Qi within them. By constantly collecting energy from their surroundings or from other lifeforms, a demonic cultivator would eventually collect enough qi to shed his 'mortality' and become a 'being of power'.

There is also a classification of cultivators:

First are the Orthodox Practitioners who cultivate from Earthly or Heavenly Qi. They tend to be the slowest cultivators and often take generations to reach their peak, but are the most powerful since they also gain insight into laws from years of studies.

Second, are the Unorthodox Practitioners who will follow any path that is beneficial to them the most. They would cultivate Heavenly, Earthly, or Demonic Qi depending on their aptitude. These cultivators are also the most common.

Third are the Devil Practitioners, which had already been expanded upon and often have no association with the Devil race. It is said to be the easiest cultivation path compare to all other paths. With faster cultivation and exponential growth in power. However, they tend to be only superior in terms of strength and are not proficient in insight laws.

Fourth are witches, sorcerers, mages, and so on. These practitioners are very rare and manipulate the energy around them, except for Heavenly Qi. They are despised by nearly all practitioners since their abilities are unmatched and terrifying, though most are physically weaker compared to all other cultivators.

Then there are the Devil race, Divine creatures, and other powerful beings. They do not need to cultivate and do not rely on any of the three energy sources since they can create their own.

Cultivators are like plants. They need sunlight to grow. Kwan-Ti, Long Tian, the Devil race, and others like them are the sun and stars.

Just as Long Tian was about to turn to the next page, the entire realm started to shake.

DOOOM!

Long Tian nearly fell off his chair and held onto the table to hold his balance. After a few seconds, the earthquake stopped.

"What was that?"
