The End of Promise
1. Human Caste

1. Human Caste

Yusuf walked down the stairs. In a dark room, where not a single light can enter. A woman with long white hair was seen sleeping soundly in a chair, with three monitor screens still on in front of her.

"You'll catch a cold if you keep sleeping in a place like this, Alice!" Yusuf said as he covered Alice's body with the blanket he took from the sofa.

Alice seemed to feel her body covered by a blanket, she slowly opened her eyes which felt very tired, "Yes, thank you!" he said and closed his eyes again.

"Are you going to keep doing troublesome things like that?" Yusuf asked, he took shoes from the top of the shelf. This time in his white and gray uniform, he was preparing to immediately go to school. "Without your intervention, this world would definitely be rotten."

"Yes, but without my intervention, the world would be worse than you think." Alice said this with her eyes still closed. "In this sophisticated era, people can even commit crimes in their own homes. People like you don't care about a world that continues to produce rubbish every day."

Yusuf wouldn't deny what she said, just smiled and stepped out of the house. As Alice said, she doesn't even care if humans destroy each other with stupid wars or genocide and the like. Since losing the person who was most precious to him, this world was nothing more than a chessboard to satisfy his boredom.

When he got into his motor vehicle, he paid attention to everyone passing by on the streets of his house complex. A group of greedy people like them who think that they have become part of the predators, never realize that they are nothing more than disposable pawns. No, maybe they weren't even worth being pawns at all, their existence was completely worthless.

"They are nothing more than a group of livestock," he muttered, then he started his motor vehicle and immediately drove away.

According to the theory created by Yusuf, humans are divided into three castes, namely; First, there is the lowest caste, which are people whose lives are always ordered, enslaved, judged, restrained, and whose life and death have no meaning at all. Second, there is the middle caste which is not much different from the lowest caste, the only difference is that they can do what people in the upper caste do in the caste below them. Finally, the top caste, they are people who have the power to freely do whatever they want, without being restrained, without being enslaved, cannot be judged, cannot be ordered, and their existence is very influential for the world.

When he arrived at school, he always parked his motorbike at the corner of the parking area. There was no particular reason, he did it because he was always the first to arrive at school. When he was about to get off his motor vehicle, a luxury car was seen passing him, and because this school allows any vehicle to park in this area, the car parked not far from where he was.

Yusuf walked over to the car to greet the person driving the luxury car, "It's not like you usually go to school alone, where is Joni?" he asked as soon as the person driving the car got out of the car.

"Don't mention his name! I'm not in a good mood to hear his name," said Amel with an annoyed face.

Amelia Franchisca, she is the daughter of the owner of the Franchisca Group, a company that has the largest revenue in this country and her father is one of the richest people in the world. This school is also one of the well-known schools founded by his father's company.

"Did you fight with him again?" asked Yusuf. "How many times have you two fought in the past few months?"

"Don't say anything else ok!"

Yusuf raised his eyebrows, Amel's sharp eyes indicated that he wanted Yusuf to shut up, close his mouth, and not say anything else related to Joni. The two of them walked into the school hand in hand, even though they lived in wealth, Amel never looked at someone's caste, she always considered everyone equal.

"Aren't you going to take part in the Olympics?" Amel asked. "My brother said that with the intelligence you have, a championship title will definitely come to our school."

"I don't think so, I'm not interested in that kind of thing." Yusuf opened his locker which was next to Amel's. "For young people like you, maybe it will be a golden opportunity, but for me it's just a waste of time."

The point of wasting time that Yusuf said was not that it was completely pointless, but that he thought that becoming a champion did not mean that the ideal world he dreamed of would happen.

"Just your existence should be more than enough to win the title."

Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

"Maybe, but with you around maybe it will be a little easier for me to get it." Amel and Yusuf closed their lockers at the same time. "No matter how hard I study, I can never beat you. The hundred marks you scored on the exam yesterday were simply absurd. How did you manage to get those perfect scores so easily?"

"Of course by studying," answered Yusuf with a smile.

Because he was in the same class, Yusuf's seat was just next to Amel. With the influence she had, he asked the principal to continuously match his class with Yusuf's with the aim of seeing how Yusuf studied and what Yusuf did to get perfect scores in all subjects. She couldn't sit on the same bench as him, because Yusuf was sitting at the same time as the person she currently hated, Joni.

"How is your father's condition, Amel?" Yusuf asked, making small talk. Amel took off her bag and put it on the chair next to her, "Bad, lately Dad... my father rarely comes home. He's always busy with work, my brother is the same way," she said with an annoyed face.

A group of people began to arrive, the students sat in their respective seats. A few minutes before the bell rang, Joni entered the classroom with an exhausted expression. His eyes glanced at Amel in the hope that Amel would glance back at him, but apparently not, Amel was only focused on the book he was reading.

"Why are you Jon?" asked Yusuf as soon as Joni sat next to him. "It's still morning but your face is already sour like that, what's wrong?"

"No, this..." Joni couldn't say it. He just kept silent, put his bag on the chair, then took out a book and stationery.

Yusuf understood what had happened. There is the possibility that misunderstandings occur again and again between Amel and Joni. As young people who are full of energy, this is a situation that often occurs, and will later become a memory that they will always remember in their old age. However, even so, Yusuf doesn't care, that's a problem between the two of them, he won't interfere at all, they both have to learn to understand each other.

The lesson went well. When the school bell rang, Yusuf, Joni and Amel, walked towards the parking lot together. Amel and Joni were still fighting, Joni repeatedly tried to make Amel glance at him but it seemed to end in vain, Amel never even thought Joni existed. The only reason why Amel walked together was because of Yusuf's figure, it was very difficult for her to hate Yusuf.

"Are you still with your decision not to take part in the Olympics?" Amel asked.

Yusuf pursed his lips and shook his head slowly, "Yes, I still stand by my decision," he answered.

"Why?"

"No reason. I'll just do what I want."

"But with the abilities you have, our chances of winning the title are very big. It is within 80% probability. You must not waste your extraordinary talent."

"Still, I'm not interested in that kind of stuff at all. Stop talking about all that nonsense about the Olympics, I'm tired of hearing it."

With a tired face, Joni could only listen to Amel's conversation with Yusuf. He didn't make a single sound because he was afraid that everything would get worse than before. He realized that he was not a great man, not someone worthy of someone as beautiful as Amel. But damn... this is really complicated.

Arriving at the parking lot, Amel walked to his car alone while Joni followed Yusuf to his motorbike. Yusuf casually walked on his motorbike and put a helmet on his head. He was surprised why Joni didn't get on his motorbike and just remained silent while watching Amel's car leave.

"Hurry up, Joni, don't daydream too much!" Yusuf shouted, and Joni immediately got on the motorbike. "Don't think too much about it, that's how women are. Try talking to her again tomorrow."

"Yes," answered Joni briefly, today he wasn't the least bit enthusiastic today.

"You want to stop by my house first?"

"Just go straight home, I'm not in a good mood. I need silence."

Yusuf raised an eyebrow, he was surprised that someone as stupid as Joni could say such a term. But looking at the situation, this was not the right time to joke around. He took Joni to the front of her house according to her request. After dropping off Joni, he immediately went back to his house. It would be very troublesome if Alice suspected him of anything wrong. However, while on the way, he stopped at a crossroads. Accidentally he saw a black limousine escorted by many police officers passing in another lane. For a moment he thought maybe it was important officials in this country or from abroad because soon a conference would be held in this city.

"This is going to be a bit of a hassle," he muttered, then got ready to go when the traffic lights turned yellow.

He remembered that currently a conference would be held between countries around the world. They will discuss the economy which will experience major changes in the future. And what makes it troublesome is that it is possible that people from that organization will also come to this country, and of course the numbers will not be small, considering that there will be many leaders from each country who will come here, of course security will be tighter.

"Are you home yet?" Alice asked as soon as Yusuf opened the door to the house. "How was school today? was it fun?"

Yusuf took off the shoes he was wearing and put them back on the shelf, he threw himself on the sofa, "Stop asking about disgusting things like small talk like that," he said, he took off his clothes so that his upper body was visible.

"Disgusting?" Alice was at the peak of her emotions. He walked over to Yusuf. "I'm your damn older brother! Is it really wrong for me to want to ask my own little sister such disgusting things? Even though I just want to know whether you still enjoy your school like every other day? Do you know..."

"Stupid!" Yusuf said interrupting Alice's words, this is what would happen if he provoked someone who doesn't sleep regularly, is emotionally unstable, plus Alice is a woman. Because he felt the cell phone in his trouser pocket vibrating, Yusuf answered the phone call without caring about Alice who was still angry beside him. "What is it?"

Yusuf listened to someone talking over the phone quietly. However, for some reason, the expression on his face suddenly changed, and now he even leaned forward slightly.

"What is it?" Alice asked, surprised by Yusuf's change in emotions.

"Unlucky!" Yusuf lowered his cellphone again, looked at Alice with his eyebrows raised upwards. "Amel was kidnapped, he said."
