Chapter 2 – Powerless
(Hayden)
So I’ll like to go back to when I shouted with my voice learned from my years in training in martial arts especially kendo. Ki AI as they call it, you shout from your stomach instead of your throat. It’s very important in lots of martial arts as it channels your chi as they like to say. In muay thai, my coach told me to exhale in short puffs, and it’s basically the same thing, it kinda allows you to give that explosive strength. It’s the same with boxing and so on I guess.
Anyways back to the running.
FUCCKKKK, I SAW METEORS HEADING STRAIGHT TOWARDS US, I BOLTED AS EACH OF US TRIED TO FIND PLACE TO HIDE, RUN OR TRY ANYTHING TO GET AWAY FROM THAT FUCKING HUGE PIECE OF ROCK THAT’S CURRENTLY FALLING FROM THE SKY.
It’s a good thing I was a runner in high school because this would surely play a key role now. I hope….
“RUN DAMNNIT!!!” I screamed as I urged my legs to go faster.
I saw lots of people running and everything looks like chaos, people running everywhere, kids crying, cars speeding, accidents happening everywhere.
Now you think I may have jumped the gun on trying to outrun a meteor but I’m sort of panicking now and like I actually think I have a better chance of running away from the meteor instead of using a car considering how many people and cars are on the road now. I figured if I actually tried to hitch a ride or something like that, I would lose valuable time, besides I don’t want to commit any crime. I’m the type of guy that’s against breaking the rules. Okay I know I’m just lying to myself, I never actually thought about using a car. I mean there’s pros and cons to the alternative.
*BOOM* a nearby car collides into a petrol station nearby and causes a huge explosion.
“FUCK!! SHIT!!” OKAY ANOTHER REASON WHY RUNNING IS BETTER
In all the chaos I noticed I was alone and I lost my friends in the chaos.
“DAMMNIT!!!!” I can’t even see anyone I know, I might have outrun them or something.
I looked around while trying to find my friends and saw both the kindness and evilness of human nature, strangers helping each other. A young kid who looked about 5 years old had fallen, and a man helped the kid by picking him up and carrying him. I saw an old man who was pushed down in the chaos as people stomp over him only for a lady to cover for him and helped him up. I saw drivers with their families in their car running over people trying to get away from the incoming meteor. I saw people breaking into cars with people already in it, just hoping that being in a vehicle can help them survive.
I looked around and noticed I should probably start running faster or I’m definitely going to die.
I started sprinting as fast as I could, I ran passed so much people and never looked behind. I think I straight up sprinted for 500m.
“Shit dammit” I’m starting to get tired and my heart is beating so fast it looks like it’ll explode.
I looked up, and saw that the giant fucking piece of rock is currently well away from my position but it looks like the trajectory of the impact when it lands might still fuck me up.
I know I shouldn’t be only worried about myself but in the chaos, I just couldn’t get myself to be the hero. I saw people needing help but they weren’t anywhere close to my position and path. I know I could probably sprint across and break my stride to help them but that would have cost me lots of time. Time that I need….…..
I might just be saying this just to make me feel better. I’ve past so much people that might have needed help, that I can’t even count them anymore. I just wiped my tear swollen eyes and continued running. I felt so powerless. In all my years of working out, sports, training, studying, I’ve never felt this useless, this powerless against my situation. When a fucking meteor is crashing towards earth, and you’re a size of an ant compared to it, you feel so hopeless. I hope and pray that I’ll be able to survive.
I continued running for what seemed like hours to me as I noticed I just ran 2 km in like less than 5 minutes. Now you might be wondering how I knew it was 2 km, that’s cause I past the little park where lots of kindergartener’s always played in the playground there. I knew the distance I ran was roughly about 2 km or more from where I started due to the fact that this is the route I always used when running. I mean of course I’ll use a route I’m familiar with, I don’t want to end up running into a dead end or up a fucking hill.

I think I just broke my long distance record. HAHA. I still think I need to run more.
I looked back and saw the meteor nearly reaching the ground.
“HOLY SHIT!!!!! FUCKING SPRINT YOU PIECE OF SHIT!!!” and I pushed my body to its upmost limits sprinting, hoping to widen the distance between me and the meteor as much as I can.
If I paid more attention, I would have noticed that meteors wouldn’t have taken that long to crash into the earth from the atmosphere but I couldn’t help it I’m nearly dying from running and definitely dehydrated.
*BOOM* I heard and felt a massive shockwave as the meteor hit the ground.
“ FUCK!!!” I said as I hid in an alleyway surrounded by multi-storeyed bungalows. I’ve never been so scared in my life, I mean I’m really bad at horror games already and this? This is just madness. The sounds, the screaming, the explosions, the deaths. My ears, my eyes, my nose, my body, its all trembling.
My ears filled with ringing sounds of screams, explosions,
My eyes filled with tears dripping and the horrors around me,
My nose filled with the smell of blood, oil……. death
My body filled with lethargy and the trembles of the earth beneath my feet.
*CRACK* I felt the ground shatter, as the after effects of the shockwave came. I saw people falling into the cracks on the ground, I saw families being torn apart by the forces of nature, I saw people dying… I saw the end…….. or that’s what I thought at least for that moment.
Then I felt the building I was currently taking shelter behind starting to collapse, but I had nowhere to go, nowhere to run. That was until I saw a nearby cellar which looked like a perfect place to hide. I jumped into the cellar and hoped for the best while praying to anyone that would help answer my prayers. It’s so dark in this cellar, that I can’t see anything. I really needed to look for something to hide under. That’s when I felt something hitting my back and my body slamming to the ground where my consciousness fade.
(???)
Hmm, I felt a massive power being used in the realm, a power so familiar but so long ago, hidden within the depths of my memories. A power I’ve nearly forgotten.
I looked at where I felt the power and saw a young god there, messing around with Earth. I see, he is trying to cause chaos, using his powers to change the laws of this universe. He seems to be directing more of his attention towards this planet. Earth huh? Primitive world but their creations, technology and innovative minds are headed to the right direction. Earthlings with imaginative minds far superior to their current technology. If they were given a chance, they would have the potential to be a rising power in the galaxies of this realm.
He must know that the power to change the laws will come at a price. I think I'll like to help the little earthlings, I'll like to see what they would do when all they know is torn asunder. I'll tweak what he changed a little bit.
There!
As I grasped his laws and put my hands to work on his.
He seems new to this power, I’ll make the drawback a little more painful for him. That will teach him a lesson, causing countless of innocent lives.
*Zueammmm* Power backlashed into the young gods face, causing a massive shockwave of cosmos energy in space.
HAHA, he looks so angry, he’ll probably need to slumber for a few years after this. Hmm, I’ll tweak his laws a bit more, give the earthlings a fighting chance.
There it is done.
Back to slumber for me too, I’ll like to see what this young god does when he wakes up. Hmm better record it all. Haha, maybe an earthling might surprise me too. That would give me entertainment for a couple of years.
