The Warchief stepped toward me and looked down, trying his best to make me feel like an ant. The anger that he’d exasperated till now left his eyes, giving him an even more dangerous aura. “Kill you and take this woman back to the tribe, to be taught.” He said firmly.
My lips curled into a smile without me thinking. I looked back into the Warchief’s eyes and felt as calm as I’d ever been since I met him. “…and how are you gonna do that, when you have no way to escape without my say-so?”
“Assassin. It seems you don’t know your place in life. That’s fine, I’ll show you where you stand!” He said calmly.
“WARCHIEF!” A Doasian screamed, running past Eltessa and the other two bodyguards.
“AREN’T YOU SUPPOSED TO BE GUARDING OUR EXIT!?” Black Rock snarled, turning to the bodyguard.
“The doors…” The doasian said softly, confused.
“What about them?” Black snapped.
“They came down, we’re trapped here!”
Well done, Nova I thought.
Lights went dead in the corridor and my lips curled into a smile. My eyes switched to infrared and I watched as the heat from Warchief’s face reach its boiling point as he turned to me. “You did this!” He growled, steam wafting from his lips.
“Don’t move,” A strange voice said in the short distance. The Doasians froze in fear, just as anticipated.
I stepped forward, pushing the majority of my weight into my left leg and snapped my right foot into the shin of the Warchief, sweeping him off his feet. As he floated in the air for a mere second, my short blade snapped free from my cybernetic wrist.
A crashing thud reverberated through the corridor as the Warchief hit the ground. I scuttled over him, punching him in the face twice.
He grunted twice before realising what had happened, then raised his hand in defence for the third punch. I let my blade slid across his neck. The Warchief didn’t flinch, realising instantly what had just happened.
The lights pulsed back on and The Doasians stared on in confusion, seeing their Warchief on the ground with a blade nestled to his neck. “Eltessa!” I snapped.
She raised her submachine gun, aiming it at the Doasian to her right. The Doasian to her left raised his and stepped forward trying to intimidate her, but she shrugged it off by sliding the safety off her submachine gun with a minute, click.
“Don’t move a muscle or the next thing you’ll experience is your Warchief’s artery spooling blood like a fountain,” I said firmly.
The Doasian that had his Assault Rifle trained on Eltessa was unexpectedly shielding me from the other two Doasians. Just the luck that I need! I celebrated mentally.
The Warchief stared up at me with blood in his eyes and steam flowing from his lips as he held in his anger. “You planned this.” He said firmly.
“I did, now decide. You save your children or we all die here.”
“Warch—“

“SILENCE!” Warchief Calian growled.
“Stop dallying,” I then said, “Those blast doors won’t hold for long. If you don’t save the children now. You won’t be able to get out of here and back to your people.”
“You’ll shoot us in the back!”
“I don’t have the time Warchief. Send your men inside the lab, and see if I lead you to a trap.” I said firmly.
A bead of sweat trickled down my forehead and massaged my nose. The Doasians stared at me ready to take their shot. “Warchief, advise your men that once they shoot, the pressure in which I am applying my blade will neck your artery.”
“Iav, don’t be a hero.” The Warchief softly, “check to see if the kids are there.”
Iav, the Doasian who’d brought the news of the blast doors shutting in on us, scampered past us and entered the room. “Tell your man to tell us what’s going on in the room.”
“Iav, what do you see!?”
“The Children are here Warchief, but they don’t look good.”
The Warchief’s jawline stiffened from annoyance whilst relief flashed across the other Doasian’s face. “See? I have no reason to lie or to set up some fool-hearted trap for you.”
“Why?” The Warchief crooked. “Why help us? You could’ve left us for dead and found your way out.”
“Because he has a daughter of his own.” Eltessa groaned. “Save your people Warchief Calian. The Assassin and I, have a business to attend.”
The Warchief didn’t speak, but I kept my blade at his throat, at any second. He could signal his men to gun Eltessa and me.
“Sir, Ranton’s order the system to be rebooted. He’ll regain control of the Blast Doors soon.” Nova said.
Damn it!
Two seconds of silence passed, which felt like an hour. My arm stiffened at Warchief Calian’s neck whilst his men nervously kept their fingers toying around the trigger.
I stared into the Warchief’s Black eyes. The grim scowl he had painted across his face disappeared. He looked unsure as he looked back at me. I know that look, Hesitation. He’s not sure what to do next, I thought.
“Warchief, your people need a leader from the onslaught that’s about to take place. Save the children and leave. I will guide you through the maze. I promise.” I said firmly.
Hesitation was still swirling within the Warchief’s eyes. I don’t know what he did to become Warchief, but someone instilled this doubt within him with words.
The Warchief was growling and snarling at me confidently, but after I tricked him, that aggression withered away faster than a dead leaf.
“Let’s get the children and prepare to leave this god,” He said firmly, resolving to return to his eyes.
“Warchief!” A doasian snarled behind Eltessa.
“GOMDA! Shut Up and do as I say! You too PAYAT!”
The Doasians clicked the safety off of their weapons and nestled them across their shoulders. As they walked past me, I watched as the frustration crept into their eyes. They wanted to end me, for making them look like fools, but I couldn’t care less.
I turned to the Warchief and smiled at him, pressing my knee into his gut. He grunted as I pushed myself up. I held out my hand, and he grabbed it and pulled him up.
He sucked his teeth in annoyance and spoke something under his breath which told me he was fine but was angry with himself for getting the best of him. “You still have the comm?” I asked.
“I do.” He grunted.
“Good, Follow my instructions. I’ll guide you through the bunker and back to your people.”
The Warchief grunted and turned to me. He eyed me up and down, then walked towards me. A surging pain erupted in my chest, sending me flying backwards a sizzling sensation that felt like lightning rippled down my back.
As I fell to the ground, feeling my chest and back scream from the punch the Warchief just looked at me, I stared up at him, feeling his deathly aura finally return. “That’s for threatening me!” He said firmly.
I dabbed the blood away from the corner of my lips and pushed myself back up, feeling my back pulse like a raging storm.
Warchief Calian stepped forward and so did I. We stared at each other for a half-second. “Fuck your pissing contest!” Eltessa roared, “We have to go! NOW!”
As much as the urge to send my wrist flying into his jaw, I resisted it. I took a deep breath, then stepped back, dabbing the inside of my jaw feeling a sweet sensation tingle my tongue as I tried to soothe the cut within my mouth.
I walked past the Warchief, feeling his venomous stare as I passed him smothering me whole. The hair on my body almost rose, but the calmness in my heart immediately quelled that as I felt as though this mission was soon over. Just one more thing.
“We’ll be seeing each other soon Assassin.” Warchief Calian said. I stopped and turned watching as Eltessa gnashed her teeth in frustration and stared at me like she was ready to shoot me in the head.
“We won’t be seeing each other Warchief Calian,” I said with a smile and turned and ran around the corner, leaving him to machinations.
