Chapter 2: Old Man Prikan

Thump. Thump. Thump. Skreee.

"Oh come on Kairos, at least make it a little interesting to mess with you."

"Tch, come on guys, lets leave the loser alone."

Kairos extracted himself for the fetal position that he had ben in for the past 15 minutes, getting off the ground gingerly as to not bleed out from the re-opened bruises along his body.

Slowly hobbling along the ground, he made his way to old man Prikans house, sinking down onto the hay couch in front of his front door, too exhausted to take a single step further.

"Come on Kairos, you can't keep getting beat up by those good for nothing kids. Malrez would hate to hear that his son was getting pushed around by a bunch of village commoners" Prikan exclaimed while tending to the wounds on Kairos' body, which had begun to bleed profusely.

"Shitty father anyways, he's never here to help me. That's why all those other kids can do so much more than I can" Kairos grumbled, grimacing in pain as he spoke.

"You know your father is busy as a soldier, hell how do you think you can afford the house you live in? The other kids parents aren't making half of what Malrez is making" Prikan retorted, continuing to close Kairos' wounds.

Kairos opened his mouth as to continue the back and forth but slowly closed it.

"Anyways Kairos, have you considered signing up for one of the schools for soldiers? You always show so much interest in all of that outdoorsy stuff. Maybe you'll get lucky and become a 2-star at some point in your life and get to live outside of some shitty village like this one."

Kairos looked taken aback for a minute, and replied by saying nothing.

"I know, I know, you've never been the strongest, but that's nothing a little bit of work can't fix, right?"

"Forget it old man. Not happening."

A mischievous glint ran across Prikans face, a glint that looked out of place on his wrinkled, shriveled face.

I think it will Kairos.

Smacking Kairos on the back--resulting in a pig-like squeal from Kairos-- Prikan dragged him outside.

"Don't come back next time unless your bringing the other guys" he grumbled under his breath.
