*Pant Pant*
*AAHHHHH*
"Come on Bell! Just one more push!"
*Pained groans*
*HHAAAaaaah*
The room was sad but not very small. It was damp but not too cold. The only light was from the many candles spewed across the room. The whole place smelled like old wood but seemed clean.
"You did well, Bell. Looks like it's a healthy girl."
"Let me see the child."
"Are you sure you have the strength left to hold her?"
A tired but genuine chuckle escaped her.
"The forest demons couldn't loosen my grip."
With a smile to the new mother, the helper gently handed over the child.
Recognizing her mother's touch, the newborn started slowly opening its eyes. The child looked around before stopping at her mother's face, and with an odd expression for a newborn it stared at its mother, studying her appearance.
The first thing the child noticed was the black fur that covered her completely, even the hands that held her had soft and warm hairs that felt like an extra blanket. Looking higher she saw sharp teeth clearly made to rip and tear, gathered into a gentle smile. Higher yet were her mother's eyes, a beastly pair of bright, yellow eyes like that of a predator with an inexplicable warmth to them...
That tired, gentle look made all the initial questions and confusion fade away. The child stared blankly at them for a good while.

'When was the last time I saw mom give me that look?'
Small droplets flowed from the child's eyes along with an even smaller whimper as she held her mother tightly, pressing her little face against her.
"Oh no, is she hurt somewhere?"
*Giggle*
"No, I think she saw you first and got surprised when she saw how different I was. After all, I've heard that small children instinctively avoid dark things."
The helper looked at the child holding her mother as if someone were actively trying to take her away and unconsciously an endearing smile was painted on her face.
"I don't think that's the case."
"Well anyway, what are you planning on naming her?"
The mother looked down at her child and as she caught a glimpse of its eyes a name instinctively came to mind.
"Myrkvi, or Myr for short."
"Uhm... that's an odd name."
"It's of a very old tale from my tribe. In ancient times it referred to the word eclipse, but to my people it means 'The one to block out the sun'. It was the name of an old wolf whose power was apparently so grand he could single handedly block out the sky and rain death upon the wicked."
*Pff-*
"I don't think even the Central Chief's son has such a grand name. You really have some high expectations for that child, don't you?"
"What comes of her future is yet to be seen. The name is simply what I felt from her, nothing else."
As Bell stroked Myr's head, passing her fingers across Myr's little wolf ears, a cheeky grin slid across her face.
"Although I am not exactly expecting that a daughter of Björg and mine would lose out to that cocky and entitled little brat."
'Oh boy, sounds like I'm in for a tough-ass upbringing.'
While the two women spoke, Myr was able to compose herself and take in the situation.
*sniff*
'And here I thought I had gotten over my shitty life...'
'Anyway, I thought I died... no, I know I died. You don't just casually get a bullet hole in your stomach after getting beaten half to death and wake up fine the next day.'
Myr looked up to get a better view of her new mother.
'So, is reincarnation what comes after death? I was expecting a bit more nothingness... or at least for me not to remember my past life. Still, I'm not complaining. Getting to live out the easiest period of life with all my previous life's memories sounds pretty damn good to me.'
Myr took a glance around the simple wooden room and felt the slightly cold air pass by where she wasn't covered.
'Still... comfort might be harder to come by than I'd prefer.'
