“Revival begin, Shift the pod's angle to 180° and discharge the first 100 volts! And if it fails, increase the voltage by 50 with an interval 30 seconds every discharge.”
“Shifting angle and opening the lead” (CSM operator 2)
The sound of the moving gears of the machine is very audible, and every passing second makes us more and more anxious.
I walked slowly watching every step until I reach the side of the machine.
“She’s just like a princess in an individual story that sleeps forever, but this time a kiss is not sufficient to wake her up” (Prof. Jean)
“Discharging 100 volts.”
While looking at the girl the body jolted a little when the electricity entered her body, but even after that, her eyes remains closed.
“No changes in 100 volts! Increasing voltage to 150!” (CSM Operator 1)
Yesterday night I thought simple thawing the subject is not sufficient since the heart and brain already stop its function.
We can freeze the subject during the earlier stage of the experiment, but the subject died. Then I must change my approach. If the subject body is not frozen and the temperature is at the freezing point, the possibility of success is higher.
To counter the first problem, we injected an ample amount of non-toxic anti-freeze substance to body to push the freezing point far back so the body will not freeze.
Then why do we need to electrocute her?
The human system has its natural electricity that makes the body move or any internal organs, it’s
Called in layman term the Energy. The energy is basically the converted energy. The atoms have both positive energy from the protons and the negative energy from the electrons creating equilibrium. Since the human body contains a different kind of chemicals. The body gain it through consumption, breathing or sleeping, and it causes a different chemical reaction that produces the electricity.
In low temperature the atoms and molecules are compressing itself, making chemical reaction slower, and once the chemical reaction slowed the creation of electricity also slowing.
Because we need to make the atoms and molecule accumulate energy to produce for themselves. Since the in a frozen state, the molecule is compressed to each other the energy they contain is minuscule that it’s insufficient to restart the function of the organs such as heart and brain. By electrocuting the body with a right voltage will generate heat enough to them expand to the average level and restart the production of the natural electricity is converted to energy.
Right now, we are testing my theory.
“There is still no response in 150, increasing to 200!” (CSM Operator 1)
“Go!” (Prof. Jean)
10 minutes passed Inside freezing coldness inside the pod, we can see clearly that body jolts every time we electrocute her, making it a good sign that the body is still soft and reacting.
“Discharging 1100 volts” (CSM Operator 1)
I’m starting to feel that my theory is a failure, we are now reaching the dangerous amount of voltage, I’m very confident that the body won't ignites because of the freezing temperature, but there is still a possibility of ignition.
“How the condition? Is there any changes?” (Prof. Jean)
“Sir, there is still no change in the activities, I believe she already passed away” (CSM Operator 2)
The operator that is in-charge of monitoring the vitals and the brain activity honestly answered my inquiry his voice is filled with sorrow as the words come out of his mouth.
“This will be the final discharge, discharge 5000 volts if there is still no changes. Extract the subject out, and we will hold a funeral.”
“Yes, sir!”
All of my staff looked at me with moistening eyes, and some of them are already crying.
I see. . . .
I’m not the only one who is feeling despair at this moment.
“Charging complete! *hick*, Discharging 5000 Volts *hick*” (CSM operator 1)
The operator announced it like always and when he pressed the button he burst into tears.
Since I’m on the side of the machine.I see it clearly The body jolts violently that lasted for few seconds before it stopped.
Tears began flowing in my eyes, as I remember my own daughter when I’m looking at her and announced the failure of this experiment.
“at 0942 hours, the experiment failed, and we are ceasing all activities, it shall resume but wait for further instruction. return to your quarters and prepare for the burial.“
Aside from me, no one spoke a single word.
If the world is the normal state, this kind of experiment will be deemed unethical, and a child abuse.
The main reason of our tears is that the subject, this time, is a brave 12-year-old girl, who volunteered to be our subject.
The operator opened the pod lid, and everyone started to gather around it.
“I’m Sorry and remember this Chloe, daddy love u so much” (CSM operator 1)
I see. . . .
He’s father too . . . . . just like me.
Now I know the reason for his tears because his cries are much stronger than anyone of us.
Placing my hands on his shoulder to show I cared and got hurt also. And even I’m charge of this experiment, I permitted the participation of the child.
This novel is published on a different platform. Support the original author by finding the official source.
“You can blame all you want. . . . for the death of your child.”
“I won’t blame you, sir, even If I did, my daughter’s life won't come back, but I blame myself for letting her participate and didn’t stop her. I was taken aback when she told me, she wants to do it. In her eyes, there is no fear of death, and it was a genuine conviction that she ready to die. ” (CSM Operator 1)
“Danny, I’ll let you decide do you to hold a funeral here, or bury her straight? (Prof. Jean)
“I would like to hold a funeral for her” (Danny)
While in the midst of grievance, someone suddenly barges in the door.
“Sir I’m sorry for my rudeness for barging in the middle of the experiment, but we need you at the command center ASAP, there is a significant problem.” (CC Operator 1)
“Okay, go ahead, and I’ll be there within an hour” (Prof. Jean)
After he had heard my instruction, he gave me a salute and ran back to the command center.
“Chloe, I’ll be leaving your side for awhile, daddy will just prepare” (Danny)
When we are about to leave the CSM testing area, a miracle happen.
Toot~
“hmm!” (Danny)
Danny suddenly run back to the pod, everyone was stunned because of his sudden action, then we realized something.
There is a sound. A sound that we hoped to hear earlier.
“everyone! Return to your post! Medics go check on her condition!. Operator! Check her vitals signs and brain activity. Someone bring her some thick blanket and hot food!” (Prof. Jean)
They began scrambling to return to their post after I gave my instruction and I looked at my watch to check the time to see how many minutes passed after the last discharge up to this moment while walking toward the pod
“10 minutes interval.” (Prof. Jean)
I didn’t account the possibility of the late reaction, but this situation is truly a miracle.
“There is nothing wrong with her!!” (Medic)
“Her vital signs and brain activity are all normal and functioning well!” (CSM Operator 2)
Someone is laughing
Someone is shouting “CHEERS!”
Someone is laughing while crying.
The sound of cry and joy is mix together.
Even I felt a deep feeling swelled inside me when the miracle happen.
I’m standing beside Danny the who is hugging her daughter tightly with a smile on his face while crying.
“Danny it is alright for us to take some blood sample? And monitor her for awhile” (Prof, Jean)
“Yes sir it’s alright, but I have a condition.”
“Ooh, then I what is your condition?”
“I will be the one to monitor her, but I’ll still do my job as an operator.”
“Ok!, I permit!”
“Thank you so much.”
Danny burst into tears again, that I accepted his condition, in exchange to the possible test that we will be conducting to her daughter.
“Everyone! Please stop what you are doing for a moment and look here, I will make a major announcement so listen carefully!”
I looked at every one of them inside the testing area. Everyone is staring at me with a serious face.
“TOMORROW! Danny’s daughter Chloe! Will be joining us here in the testing area as a new family member of the CSM team!”
The whole team burst in joy shouting “Congratulations!”
Danny's eyes widened after hearing my remark, but her daughter seems to be confused and asked.
“Uh hmm, what will be my work?” (Chloe)
“You will just sit near your daddy, and sometimes we are going to ask you some question, so you need to answer them... that is your work.”
“Then that mean I can be with father all the time?” (Chloe)
“Yes, you will be spending more time with your dad” (Prof. Jean)
Chloe natural big round eyes become bigger as her eyes widened and her mouth made a big O-shaped and when she was hugged tightly by her father. She looks straight into my eyes made a dazzling innocent smile that made me teary because I remember the smile of my daughter during her death bed.
I returned a big smile at her while patting her head.
“Continue with the observation and take some blood samples and check it in the chem lab for any abnormality, I’ll be leaving for awhile and head to the Command Center.
I gave them few new instructions and casually leave the building.

Current Date: December 21, 2667
Time: 1553 hours.
Location: Command Center
I’m currently breathing slowly because I ran to minimize the travel time needed to reach command center.
I placed my right hand on the scanner. It made a beeping sound while scanning the palm for identification.
A monotonous voice is heard saying “Verification Confirmed. Welcome, Professor Jean Ashford.”
The triple layered metal door opened, and I ran again to reach the inner most room.
I boldly opened the door and ask “What is the emergency situation!?” while catching my breath.
“The current situation is out of our calculation, please look at this graph. Last week the highest recorded temperature was 79°, but today the temperature is 85°. *Gulp*. At first, I thought there might be a problem with the satellite heat mapping and other sources we have, then we remotely rebooted the system of each source.” (CC staff Leader)
She made a sudden pause in her report and her face turn pale. I think I’m getting the picture of the report.
“There is no problem with the system. The time we have left. Shorten drastically. Please look at the monitor. This is the current projection we have.”
I feel my whole body sweating a lot and frozen while the mouth is wide open because the previous projection we have more than 4 years but the current is that we have more than 1 year left.
“Continue to monitor this matter. What the status with the returning Cyber Units.” (Prof. Jean)
“Their E.T.A is 45 minute. Once they entered the hangar, a team is already on standby and ready to move the materials to their respective areas.”
“Good, is there anything more I need to know?”
“One more thing sirs, several weapons, and ammunition stored in the armory is currently missing. We send several people to investigate the situation, and they have the authority to deal with it on their own accordance.”
I manage to stay calm continued to ask for other report but the pitch of my voice already high because of the feeling impatience.
“Good, my primary concern is the time we left. Tell the project head that we will have a meeting at 1800 hours in the conference room. We need to hasten the Research and development of the project.”
“Copy sir.”
Sitting on my exclusive chair, I began pondering about our course of action. Then I remembered the religious refugees residing in the residential area of this facility.
I’m skeptical type of person, especially when it comes to religion. Some faithful believer always says that I must pray, but I keep on telling them “If there is really a benevolent god out there. Then why did he let this happen? Right? The only reason for I can think of that he don’t exist, because if he indeed exists. Then why do we need to suffer this fate!?.”
“No good, Praying won’t help us to resolve this issue, we need to do something fast or else no one will survive especially my grandchild,” I whispered to myself.
I shove the thought of praying for mercy because we are the only who can do this no one else. Moving my thought from the non-existing to our future plans and action.
My eyes completely locked on my computer, when I looked at the clock it’s most time for the meeting.
Before I leave the Central Room, I made a small speech to boost the morale of the staff, since the atmosphere of the room become dark to make someone grasp for air.
“I want you all to remain calm in the situation, understand if you feel fear, sadness or even anxiety because I’m the same. WE are all in the same boat, and we need to help each other! Because we don’t know what will happen the next few days, so keep on monitoring every abnormality outside.” My voice is full passion and confidence.
After the speech, I exited the command center and went to the conference room.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made first to the conference room since it only near the command center central room.
After few minutes of silence, the project heads started arriving.
At exactly 1800 hours. The all the project head are assembled inside the room.
I look at each one of them to check the attendance, after confirming everyone is already here.
They noticed that I’m looking at them, and they a serious face and sweating a lot even this room have 21° degrees Celsius.
“Thank you so much for coming with just an immediate notice. This meeting will be crucial to humanity survival before we began talking about the current status of the projects. I will inform you all that we are in the very dire situation. Last week the earth’s temperature was 79°, but today it made a drastic change. It increased by 6°. The current time we have left is 1 year and 5 months. Once the counter turns zero, the earth temperature will become 201°.”
They heard my opening remark clearly well, everyone face is making a confused expression. Unable to hide the feeling they right now after telling them, that the time we left shortened.
And so the meeting began.
