3. The Decision

3. The Decision

Donovan Hart

"We will go after taking breakfast." Said Caedric to his wife. "Please don't work too hard. Don't forget the baby in your tummy."

"Oh, don't worry. Now, eat before it gets cold. You have a long day ahead." Clara replied as she placed the plates on the table.

After eating then feeding me, Caedric carries me and Clara waved us goodbye. He walks for 10 minutes until we reached the point where many transporters are lined up. I noticed the man yesterday that transported us home. He's not in the line and it seems that Caedric has told him yesterday about our departure in the morning.

"You're late." The man said.

"I said we'll meet up at 6, not at 5 in the morning. Besides, I can't ride my spell while carrying this child." Caedric replied as he entered the carrier that the transporter opened.

I pondered upon hearing the word spell because of my lack of knowledge. 'Spell? What did he mean by that? Is it some sort of vehicle here? Or is it some kind of magic?' I guess there's no point thinking about this since I can learn more after we get to the Hall.

"Let's head to the Capital. I must do something to this baby in the Hall."

"Aye Aye! Captain!" The man said as he raised the rope attached to the horse and softly heaved it making the horse run with such speed.

I really hate this small body. I feel that my insides are starting to rise up as I raised my small hand to hold my mouth.

Caedric noticed this and yelled at the driver of the carrier. "Stop making this child sick!"

"Oh sorry." His sorry felt like a tease more than a sorry. Decreasing our speed, he asked Caedric something about me. "What would you do if his parents are not around? I mean if you say that you've found him in the dungeon. There's a possibility that his parents are killed."

"That's what I'm afraid of, I really hope that his parents are still alive. That's why I'm going to babysit him in the Hall for just a day." Caedric said while looking at me.

"And if there's no one claiming to be his parent? What would you do?"

"I'll take him as my son." Caedric said proudly with shining eyes.

"Guess that's your decision."

After traveling for some time, I finally saw the Capital, it's really beautiful, I never appreciate this yesterday since the sun is setting out and there's so much crowd everywhere.

'So this capital is where many beings gather, this is like a central city where the King resides.' I thought to myself.

"I'll be dropping you here since I'll some new adventurers out there. You can pay me later at night." The main said while opening the door for us.

"Thanks Jard, I'll be seeing you later." Caedric replied.

After separating, he positioned my body parallel to him – placing my chin on his shoulders. Even though in the morning, many adventurers can be seen stepping out and paying transporters their fee. The market area is really loud as well, with many owners yelling their products. There are some vendors selling potions, armor, weapons, and foods as well.

I felt that we're near the Hall because he stopped walking but when I turned around, I saw Dem blocking our way with some of his guards.

"This space is blocked so you have to go through the other way." Dem said as he smirked like a jerk.

Caedric clicked his tongue and walks in the other direction. I can see from his back that Dem is looking a bit annoyed. I stick my tongue out at him to provoke him. His smiling face turned into annoyance as I annoyed him more before looking back at the front since Caedric stopped walking.

"What do you want?" He said to the royal guards.

"Sorry sir, we cannot allow you to pass this area as well." The guard replied.

"If that's what you want then." Caedric said as he raised his left hand.

The guards, seeing his action react cowardly as they prepared for what is coming.

'What the hell is happening?' I thought to myself. Maybe he'll-

Without even finishing my thoughts, Caedric clenched his fist, and the ground below the guards cracks and rose up locking their feet to the ground.

He hugged me as he plunged quickly passing the guards that block our way. I can see them tried so hard to remove their feet to the ground.

Woah. This word only comes up in my mind realizing that I can do this as well in this world. My eyes lit up as I realize this new discovery.

"Wanna try that as well?" He asked as he noticed my surprised reaction.

Stolen novel; please report.

I nodded once and he smirked then continued to sprint towards the Hall.

"Where's Jella?"

"Maybe she's late again but don't worry, she already prepared for your spot over there."

The other receptionist motioned her head towards the space near the door.

"Hmm? Why is it placed in the door?" he asked while his free hand scratches his head.

"Of course it's all in my plan." A lady said in our back and turning back, it was Jella.

"My plan is to make you occupy that spot to write every adventurer that will pass. Don't worry because I've attached a paper outside telling that they need to have their names listed on that list."

"Brilliant idea. By making me do this, their parents can identify their child right?" Replied Caedric.

"Oh yes, and one more thing. I've canceled every exploration if they will not register their names in your paper which means that if his parents are still out there. They can't explore without seeing that baby."

As they officially opened the Hall, many adventurers already came in and I can see their disappointment as they lined up demanding Caedric to write faster.

This action made me realized that whichever social class you're in, you'll still be able to go and explore the dungeon.

Hours passed, I recognized some adventurers such as Caedric's party members, Dem the brat, and also the other faces that I saw yesterday. We continued to do our job on the spot noon came. Jella said that every day, adventurers came especially in the morning since at noon, they're still out there exploring the Dungeon.

'I guess there's no progress here.' I thought to myself.

"Phew! I can't feel my hands. Did you manage to count everything Jella?" He asked while walking towards Jella.

"This is bad." Jella muttered.

"What? Why?" asked Caedric.

"The total number of registered adventurers on our annual count is the same count on your list."

"Have you deducted the inactive adventurers?"

"Yes, I did."

The two turned their head at me at the same time. Confused, I let out a small sigh.

"Congratulations! You now have a son!"

"You didn't even try double-checking Jella!"

"I told you right? Every count here is accurate since I used magic in recording these data and only I can alter the record."

"Okay, if that's the final decision, I guess I'll take this child." He decided.

Jella claps her hands in celebration and made her other co-workers have lunch with us as their celebration of his first son.

While having our lunch, Jella along with her co-workers questioned Caedric. "What will be the name of your–"

"Kaiser." Caedric said as he cuts Jella's sentence.

Their eyes lit up by the name given to me.

"You mean the God of War?"

'What? Do even Gods exist here?'

"Yes, I think it's a cool name to give to him. Right, Kaiser?" He said as he turns his head towards me and smiled at me.

I smiled and nodded in affirmation.

After having our lunch, Caedric said his goodbyes to the ladies at the counter since he looks like he's in a hurry. We rode different carrier and traveled for an hour to get to his home, no, my new home.

As he pays the transporter, I can clearly see the back of Carla hanging their clothes. Caedric noticed this as well and decides to sneak and surprise Carla. However, while walking, Carla sensed it and expelled a spell that seems like a wind spell because it's directed at us with a sharp speed but she managed to dispel it after seeing her husband.

"Don't sneak up like that! If the baby's not there I would hit you, you know that?" She said as she took me out of Caedric's arms.

"I think we need to talk." Caedric said in a serious manner.

Carla sensed that it's about me so she puts me down to the crib and prepares lunch for her husband but he stopped her since we already ate back at the Hall. They both went inside the room and discussed something for an hour.

After an hour, Carla first came out of the door and walked in my direction. Her expression is not upset and I could see her warm smile.

"Welcome home, Kaiser." Carla said as she hugs me tightly.

Caedric came out of the room and hugged the two of us. "Tomorrow, let's register him as an official member of our household. We'll also buy new clothes for him as well." Carla said. Her husband nodded in response and the whole day passed quickly.

I was placed again on a crib inside their room. Now, I'll have some time in gathering my thoughts for the whole day.

Because of Jella's confirmation earlier in the Hall, I can assure that many social classes are equals when it comes to becoming an adventurer.

With the elemental powers that my parents demonstrated earlier, father can use earth magic while mother can use wind magic. I have to gather more of this information since magic is very essential in this world.

If they're that strict on the Hall, then, it should mean that they have strict requirements as well. Maybe I need to go to a school or get some proper papers to pass the adventurer requirements.

Lastly, I cannot go back to my world since I'm dead. If I would go and make a way in our world, then, I'll be a soul back there. In this world, I can cultivate my abilities to any extent that I can.

I will give up returning to my past traumas and toxic acquaintances and cherish this chance that I got.

Many things occurred and I'm excited to train my abilities since I'm able to walk, and having to talk hardly as well. For the past three years, our normal life is just repeating itself but I don't mind that. My baby sister is born as well after several months when I came home. She was named, Flora. In the morning, dad would go to the Hall while mom would bid him farewell and take care of me for a day. I, on the other hand, examine books to be able to read them, even though I can understand their language, I'm still suffering in reading these history books. Since my mother is always with me, we would argue as she takes off the book out of my hand telling me that war is not a child's book. In elements, I'm still stuck in studying the two elements of my parents since there are history books that I couldn't read.

Evening came and father returned with a happy expression. Carla was surprised so she lets him inside and offered him water while he's taking a rest.

"Why are you such in a hurry, dear?" asked Carla.

"Tomorrow is the day where the orb will be activated again!" Caedric said as he raises up his cup in joy.

"O-orb?" I said.

"Yes, son. This orb only recharges every ten years, this is known as the Knowledge Orb since it has many functions."

"Daddy!" Flora shouted as she runs to hug him.

I looked at mother with a confused face and mother, realizing that. She motioned me to sits beside her explained the orb to me.

Based on her explanation and experience, the Knowledge Orb or Orb is known throughout the town. This is recharged every ten years with the help of magic concentration. It is located in the Eastern part of the Capital, in the deep forest. She said that many scholars and high-ranking people went here and asked this orb about their fate in the future. This is how mother met father which is not a coincidence since the King that reigns over the Capital was also predicted by the Orb. They said that if a person talks to it, it will answer through your mind but if the Orb becomes bored with common questions. It will not answer again and kick you out of your conversation in mind which signals, next. If this orb is really true, I must come with dad and talk to this orb.

The answers I needed lie within this orb and I need to grab this opportunity as much as possible.
