As always me and Eric where sent to thin out the monsters in the sewers. It disgust me every time I come here. The sewage, the monsters, the smell, and the way it looks just makes the place look repulsive. We walked down one of the numerous tunnels leading deeper in to the sewers. We were bombarded from monsters who were hoping to eat us.
The report at the guild was saying how the monsters where acting differently than normal more aggressive and violent than usual. Which add to fact they were already aggressive and violent made the sewers even more dangerous to come down here.
However we must thin the monster population to make sure a monster stampede did not happen. Whenever a monster stampede has happened in history the capital is left in shambles and must rebuild it has only happened two times, two times too much. It should have never happened at all but because of the arrogance of the nobles and our own ignorance.
The monsters on the sewers grew and took over and expanded becoming a lethal place before we knew it. Lost in my thoughts a crocodile like monster almost takes my leg it's only because of Eric that I didn't. I quickly shake my head trying to focus on my surroundings.
"Sorry, I was a little distracted which doing down here is dangerous it was only because of you that I didn’t get a surprise amputation." I watch Eric blush for some reason in fact whenever I talk to him he is blushing and then he was just always blushing. At first I thought he was sick but he quickly told me that no he was not sick. By now I am use to it, his constant blushing.
"It was no problem you would have done the same for me, besides we are partners right Violet." As always talking in that shy voice of his which is still strange to me because when he talks to others he is confident and commanding.
"Of course we are a team, a pack, your like a little brother to me." He seems both happy and sad at my exclamation but I don't dwell on it use to his conflicting reactions. We continue walking nearing the end of our patrol when I see something weird in the corner of my eye. Turning around I am faced with something I thought I would never see down here...a Dungeon.
"Eric look over their is that what I think it is...?" Eric looks over and stiffens in surprise and shock. "I'm not crazy right but is that a dungeon?" He still seems to be in shock not ever registering my words. He finally snaps out of it. "A dungeon...impossible..." it's only because of how close we are to each other that I am even able to hear his voice. "We need to go and report this now, we also will probably get a reward from the guild for the discovery of a dungeon." I grab his shoulder and steer him away. Marking down where we found the dungeon and the quickest path to get there on my map. It's only a couple minutes but it feels like it took hours to get out of the sewers and go to the guild. I slow down as I see the adventurer guild. It wouldn't do to run in like maniacs not only is it unprofessional we would be treated like idiots who can't keep calm and we wouldn't be taken seriously. After catching our breathe we enter the guild nervously and quietly trying not to draw attention to ourselves. Eric seems even meek and quiet then usual.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
"Excuse, me miss receptionists but we would like to request a meeting with the guild master." I speak as quietly as I can cautious for people listening in on our conversation.
"Well, the guild master is busy is the matter urgent." I take a moment to think if it's even that urgent...Fuck yeah it's urgent. I remain calm outwardly.
"It is something of extreme urgency that most should not know about." Trying to get her to take the hint and that I could not talk about it with all the other adventurers around. She looks at me skeptically before going upstairs to alert the guild master. Only a moment later does she come down although still seems skeptical about my urgent business with the guild master.
"The guild master will see you now, first door on the left is his office." After telling me that she returns to her station and basically ignores my existence. Receptionist are still cold while some are kind they are often detached maybe because we often die in our profession. Eric and me quickly climb up the stairs and too the guild master office. I breathe deeply to calm myself before walking in.
"Hello, guild master I am sorry to take time out of your busy schedule but I thought this might be something you might want to know as soon as possible." I speak respectfully as possible this man was a S Rank Adventurer and incredibly smart. He was not a man you want to have on your bad side.
"Sigh. Well spit it out." He already seems annoyed and we have not even told him the news yet.
"Well, Sir while thinning out the monsters in the sewers we found a dungeon..."
