As the last one had his leg cut off I felt a weird sense of pride. As he lay on the ground trying to crawl to...freedom I wonder if the entrance is that way... I watch closely as my creation approaches to finish him off.
He has a weird look in his eyes as he dies like he's not all there.
When he's dead I feel a rush of information and power. The taste of the soul is stupendous as always but it doesn't shock me anymore. After the second meal I managed to keep some part of my mind on my other targets.
There still good there just not debilitating anymore.
After the meals were consumed l thought over the encounter.
I first tried to put down traps but whenever I tried I would have to lay down mana to fill a blueprint I designed. The ones that the system gave me were either stupid, obvious, or took too long to create. Not that I could do better.
The monsters were another matter entirely.
The ones it gave me were weak or costly. The ones that were the lowest priced were slimes, goblins, lower earth golems, rats, bats, spiders and skeletons.
Nothing to write home about and all were pretty weak. To top it all off they require materials I just don't have and if I were to simply create them with mana the cost would be astounding.

Right now I have some flesh, earth, a little iron and wood, bone, and plasma which is apparently what you get from blood when you suck the life out of it and a soul shard which you get by killing.
How do I know these things? Because I apparently have a inventory. I've been picking up stuff without noticing since I started moving my presence.
Back to my monster. I didn't like the monsters presented to me so I built my own.
I started looking at a earth golems design, it was sturdy but not flexible or fast. The slime was flexible enough but was a joke, no power or speed or even sight , completely unusable. A skeleton is fast and even has a ability to sense life, but it was brittle, you could kill it with a stick. Goblins could see in the dark, there clever, and quick enough. But they were cowardly and stupid to the point of I was sure they would abandon me or do something else stupid. Rats, and bats were just as weak as the slime just less interesting the bat was even blind. The spider held interest but was an ambush predator.
So I got to work. I used the skeleton as a base. I used earth golems design but only for the skin and put the slime design under it. It required some tweaks and more than a little cursing but it began to stick together ...kinda. I looked it over and gave it the spiders brain and then the skeletons spellwork things began to run amok when l placed in the soul shard and I began to panic and in desperation I traced some of the life chanel's into the creation and it surprised me by stabilizing.
I was slightly concerned seeing the idiot's get closer to my core worried it wouldn't do anything but then the show started.
It surprised me with how effective it was. It was fantastic. Fast, flexible, strong, and it sure looked tough.
I analyzed my creation
half life abomination: level 1
Cool...can I see more? No?irritating.
Oh well Now let's go find that goblin.
Oh did you think I forgot about you.
