“Wait, are you serious? This can’t be a thing, right? Uh, ok, let’s just prove this is a hallucination. What is it they usually say in shows and novels? Ah, duh, Status,”

<(Erth) will now be filled with dungeons, which are the homes to beasts and semi-intelligent species. Note, entrances will be random, and in many forms.>
“-ld isn’t, well I can’t even complain before this thing changes everything,” Griffin thought aloud to himself,” I wonder if this system can answer questions? And can you turn off that annoying little pinging sound?”
“Wait seriously?! How the hell do we level up then? Or learn skills and abilities? Piece of shit system” He angrily muttered while pacing the basement he had been sitting in. He grabbed a small bag, and began putting several sets of clothes and protein bars in it.”Time to see if my friends are ok then. Hopefully, the world wasn’t chopped to bits and reassembled like it is in the novels online.”
Griffin headed to leave the basement, and when he reached the top of the stairs, his vision shifted, a sense of vertigo, and he fell. He didn’t fall far, just a few feet, but what he landed on, wasn’t the stairs he had been on. It was a lush green field, about 13 yards in diameter, and a bit oblong-shaped, and surrounded by what appeared to be an oak forest.
“Seriously, a dungeon entrance right inside the stairs? How do I exit the basement then?!” Griffin raged as he brushed the dirt off his pants. “I’ve got to go back, I’m not mentally, ready for a dungeon already, needless to mention physically prepared,” He said as he placed his hand in the air from where he thought he came through, trying to leave.
“Complete it?! How the hell do I do that? Stupid fucking thing, I don’t even have a weapon” He continued to rage, before calming down, “Ok, calm down, try and remember basic survival, um, shelter, fire, water. Just figure out these three things first.”
With that Griffin wandered into the forest, looking for signs of water, or a suitable location for a shelter, slowly. He kept his eyes on the trees and ground ahead of him, scanning and memorizing his path, occasionally hearing the journeys of the small game giving him space. He eventually stumbled into a small clearing several hundred yards in, at the center of which stood a, taller, sturdier oak tree. This tree had a series of large branches, several of which were suited about halfway up the tree in a “W”-esque shape. “Ah, that looks like a good spot. I’m sure I’ll be able to find water nearby with a tree this big here. Now for getting up there” Griffin said, as he wiped a bit of sweat off his forehead,” I need to find some branches to bring up there, for the flooring and a way to make a roof.”

“7 Points, so then I would have gotten 5 but adding half, rounding down, means plus 2 more. Ok, I’ll need Strength if I want to defend myself and Fortitude if I want to be able to take a hit, then Dexterity for basic agility. What kind of way do I want to build this?” Grif asked himself, as he gathered all the branches in, and around, the clearing,” There might be magic, so Intelligence and Wisdom are valid options as well. Charisma and Luck are wild cards, as I don’t want to rely entirely on those, but they’re still going to be useful, so I can’t completely write them off. Shit, this is going to be harder to deal with than I thought.”
As he looked at what he gathered, he began sorting the branches by size,” Ok, so the ones smaller than my wrist can fuel a fire, the larger ones can make a good frame and floor, potentially roofing as well. But now, for water, and hopefully a potential food source.” he set off into the woods, away from the way he came, muttering as he went. “A balance for now between my important stats, so Strength, Dexterity, and Fortitude. Bring those all up by 2, and the last point could go into Luck, I guess. Let’s see how that looks, Status.”

As he inspected the Status page he heard a soft splashing sound. His attention suddenly pulled in that direction, Griffin wandered in that direction, as quietly as he could. He made the journey of 300 yards, by his count, avoiding loose twigs, and crunchy looking leaves, until he made it to a small, fast-moving, crystal clear, brook, brimming with small blue and green fish.
“Ok, so food and water are settled, and it’s only a good bit of a walk here, so no need to worry. I can boil and distill the water, and then maybe I can trust the fish, But just a small taste first, then I’ll see how I feel after a few hours” He said as he watched the water, before he facepalmed,” Oh hell I forgot to bring a bottle, I’ll have to just drink from the stream.”
He moved to the edge of the water, and stood there, staring at it,” Such a simple thing and I went and forgot it. A fucking water bottle, idiot” He said softly, as he drank some water from the stream. Then he started to pull clothes out of his bag until he pulled a spare shirt from it. He tied the sleeves and head hole shut. Then he walked down the stream until he found a narrow spot, and he used some rocks to pin the shirt so that the majority of the water flowed through it. “At least that should work. I’ll have to catch at least one of each fish, to see if I can eat both. And then once I know if the food supply is stable, I can begin the hunt for a way to complete this stupid dungeon.” He said confidently. He took a few more gulps from the water, then trekked back to his tree, snacked on a protein bar then began lifting sticks and branches, tearing a pair of frayed jeans to make straps and cords with.
He then began the process of building what is going to be his home base. He started by bringing two if the more robust branches up to the w-shape he had seen, and situating them about 6 feet from the trunk, and lashed them with the denim. Once they were secured, he then brought the rest of the branches he had determined to be sturdy up to the area and wedged them, nice and tight, in the remaining space he had designated as the floor. After he was happy with that, he took an inventory of the sticks and fabric strips he had left, and though of a low-cost building solution, an A-frame roof. “ Yeah, low material cost for the frame, then cover it with branches, and twigs as I go. Saves me from having to hunt for all of the right materials for a bit of time.” He decided as he began to assemble the naked frame.
After roughly an hour and a half of constant climbing and assembling, he began to tire. But his effort, in his mind, completely well spent. A semi-completed shelter, in that it gets him off the forest floor, is worth more than the energy spent, or the difficulty it could bring.
“Alright, so levels and stats can be earned from a large variety of errands and accomplishments. Good to know, Status,” He said to himself as he put 2 points into Strength and Fortitude, a point in Intelligence, and 2 points into Luck.

“I’m certain I’ll eventually balance out my Charisma. so I can worry about that later. But I’m curious now if anything happens when I cross into the double digits.” He said as he looked to the sky,” The sun hasn’t moved, I wonder if there’s a time dilation between here and the real world?” He said as he climbed down from the tree, and returned towards the stream he had found.
He felt fine from the water, so he decided it was fine to drink freely from the flowing water. His only curiosity was how to deal with the fish, as he hoped he had caught a few. Lifting the shirt from the river he saw 2 of the blue and 1 green fish trapped in the shirt. Nodding, he set up a small ring of stones near the river and lit a fire in hopes he could cook the fish. A few moments after he spits the fish and began cooking them.

“Odd it tells you when things are done, anyway, one is a regular fish, the other is a flash fish? What is that? Well, I hope it’s not poisonous.” Griffin said as he ate the bluefish first,” System, what is the way to purchase the answering system?”
“Can you tell me how to earn the ‘Nihil Credits’?”
“Thank you, System. Now to taste the green fish, and see if that affects me” He said before taking a small bite out of the cooked green fish. It tasted much better than the blue fish, and a bit citrusy, like it, was cooked with lime.
