PROLOGUE - THE REVIVAL

THE REVIVAL

In the depths of Europa, a ghost arrives in a cave under the expansive Bray facility. The ghost had always favored Exos and hoped to find one that might suit him. While exploring the cave, something catches the ghost’s eyes. It looks like a snout of some sort. It seemed to be connected to some sort of Exo Frame. The snout must be some sort of helmet. It was encased in the ice of the cave.

Luckily, the ghost could still scan it from there. The ghost was immediately confused. It wasn't an Exo, although it was definitely robotic in some way. It was like someone slapped Exo parts onto one of Saladin’s wolves. That is if that wolf was 6 feet tall and bipedal. It intrigued the ghost. From the scan, it did seem to be able to be revived.

The question was, how to get it from inside the ice? It could revive the thing, but that wouldn’t get it from the ice. If only there was a good source of fire nearby.

Then an idea hit the ghost. The Fallen captains have their shrapnel launchers. Those are solar, they could melt the ice. But no, that would be stupid. It’d be killing itself. Then, it’d never see what this was. But then again, there were no other Guardians on Europa currently, and Variks, although friendly, would be no help.

The ghost let out a sigh. It would have to lure a Captain into the cave to get whatever was in the ice out. It floated through the cave to its mouth. In the distance, it spotted a captain, its weapon flaming. The ghost flew closer and hid behind a mound of ice. It just had to attract the attention of the captain and get it to fire just enough into that spot to free the thing.

The ghost took a look around, then flew as fast as possible across the vision of the captain. The Eliksni spotted it and aimed its weapon. The ghost was quickly able to get out of range, but just enough to keep the interest in the captain. It kept doing this until it arrived at the spot where the thing sat inside the wall. Now was the tricky part. Getting the captain to shoot the right spot without damaging the thing. The captain arrived at the part of the cave where the ghost was and fired a volley of shots.

The shots landed just to the right of the ghost, but right where the ghost wanted them. The burning shrapnel from the weapon stuck into the ice and began to melt it. Perfect, now to lure the captain away. The ghost flew deeper into the cave hoping to lose the captain. After a little bit of leading the Fallen through the twisting cave, it had confused it enough to the point where it couldn't find its way back. The ghost returned to the now melted hole in the wall. A body was slumped over, having fallen out of the hole.

Even though its scans showed no sign of it being an Exo, now that it could see the body, it was, for sure, not an Exo. It was wearing a grey T-shirt and some type of pants. It had the ears, tail, and claws of a wolf. Upon closer inspection, the ghost saw the claws were metal, along with the creature’s bones. Its arms seemed organic up to the shoulder. From the waist down, it was completely metal, except for the flesh and fur of its tail. Its feet resembled that of a wolf’s, but metal and with metal claws at the end. The skin and fur of its torso were normal skin and fur, the metal being contained within it. Parts of its head were organic with traces of metal and wiring. Its brain seemed to be that of an organic one working with a computer. Its joints were robotic, their metal shiny from the melted water. From the scans, the ghost could see that it had an organic heart and lungs, but everything else in its chest and stomach was wires and circuits. Unlike Exos, it had no cavity where radiolarian fluid was held. Instead of a face and jaw, it had a cylindrical screen that formed some type of snout. It had grey fur, and any part that wasn’t fur was silver steel. It had no armor whatsoever.

‘What is this thing?’, the ghost wondered. It was time. It could revive this thing. It would be its guardian. This thing could be powerful. The ghost felt its shell open and the light began to consume it. There was a flash and a whirring.
