Prologue

Deep, deep underground of the Northern Dawic mines, past the miners and their tools lay a sleeping giant. A Master Earth Elemental, deep in a slumber for thousands of years. A rock formation covered in moss and overgrown flowers with jade orbed joints, and a single jade orb eye. It stirred slightly. It felt that something was wrong. The mines had gone on for too deep, and too long. The gems and ore of its body had slowly crumbled away over decades of mining. It was slowly losing itself. The humans have pushed too far. The Master Earth Elemental heard a voice come to it, gentle and yet commanding. “Awaken,” it said.

The Master Earth Elemental’s one eye glowed to life, and swirled in place to take in its surroundings. Slowly consciousness came to it, and it came to realize that was its deity speaking to him. Its creator. The Master Earth Elemental rose, his bulking broad body ground against other parts of the rocks and boulders making up his body. Some bits of rocks and dust crumbled to the floor as he stood. Vines ripped apart and flowers tumbled back to the earth.

It’s tall form nearly touched the ceiling. It was in a chamber of his own, round and just wide enough to move comfortably. More of the same overgrown grass and flowers covered the jutted rock walls and ledges, all facing the singular pillar of light that shone in it from a singular hole. There was a loud crumbling noise as some rocks fell and a passage opened up before it. “Destroy,” its Deity said.

Deep inside itself, it felt the presence of 3 others like it. Large and commanding. Pets of the creator, but dormant. It beckoned for the others to awaken as well, and the dull feeling revived inside it. All around the land it felt its friends revive, ready to carry out the creator’s wishes. To destroy.

The Master Earth Elemental took a step forward. It’s body whirled and rocked for a moment. It’s first step in ages. Then another, and another. Movement came unnaturally at first, but who was a rock to deny The Creator’s wishes? Soon it became used to the locomotion and exited the hole its Deity made. It wasn’t long before it sensed the humans and made its way towards them. The instructions were clear. Destroy.
