Vampires are such a… weird subject. They are one of the most popular monsters in history, are among the most feared to be seen, and yet there is just a mystique about them that is impossible to not be interested in. They are weird because they drink blood. Human blood. And yet so many people fantasize about being one, for various reasons, and yet they would still take all of the pros and cons in a heartbeat. Or rather, the lack of a heartbeat. It’d be nearly impossible for humans and vampires to coexist because of the nature of vampires. We are their food source. We are cattle among wolves. It’d be nothing but a fantasy to think that we could live among them. It’d be pure fiction to believe that they would treat us like normal beings. Vampires are a weird subject. And I know because… I was the only human in a school of vampires.
At Redcrest Academy, the main body of students are vampires. Humans don’t normally have a chance to go to a school like this because of obvious reasons, but on occasion they can go if they have the mental fortitude and the grades to support the idea they can go to that school. But very few have ever gone, and even fewer have “survived,” so to say. They were still “alive” when they graduated, but they also had the option later on in their school career to undergo a ritual of some sort to become like their schoolmates. While that helped improve their situation a little more, they were ostracized and ridiculed by their schoolmates for becoming like them. For humans, living isn’t the best it could be. We don’t get much in the way of housing, food, or even common household items, like a toaster. We are treated poorly, so extremely that there are times when a person can’t take it and… I'm sure you get the idea. For the school, you must be wondering why I even want to go there. It sounds horrible and a normal human probably wouldn’t survive there. But for me, I’m not special. Just an ordinary human that wants a better education. And the only way to get that education is by going to the place where I am not welcome. Hopefully I don’t get devoured on my first day, but you never know. I might just survive long enough to graduate. The following events are excerpts from my journal. While it feels like it has only been a few days since my graduation. In reality, it has been 5 years.
