Hey guys! Here's my now-main fiction, The Devourer. Well, the prologue at least. I'm still hashing out what I'm going to do with the story, so it'll be a little while before the first real chapter comes out. I hope this prologue sates your thirst for yummy fiction for now, you'll see the first chapter in a few days.

To think that I, the Lord of Darkness, Mistress of the Night, Godess of Monsters, would be forced to simply observe while this insignificant being encroaches upon my domain...
I will not stand for it.
However... Old man Xxanos has forbidden us deities from directly interfering with mortal worlds, ever since the great war nearly wiped out most of them. I tried petitioning to the council to be allowed to lay my judgement down upon this worm, but was shot down immediately by the idiotic justice freaks. The council of the Law gods never let me have any fun...
I was forced to *cough* beg *cough* and near prostrate my glorious self for some sort of compromise. Finally, after a few dozen years, they allowed me to do what I will with the worm’s soul once he enters my domain, which the mortals refer to as, ‘Laeddus’, the place after death.
In Laeddus, I have nearly free reign to do what I wish with the souls of dead mortals. I can’t tamper too much with them, but I can send them off into different worlds and lives, as well as wipe their memories if they do not please me. I’m supposed to individually judge each soul, but honestly, it’s dreadfully boring dealing with them, so I usually just send them off to random lives.
Now, while that self proclaimed ‘God King’, Xxanos declared our personal impassiveness in mortal dealings, we have some freedom to use our own mortal constructs to carry out our wishes. Other than my early experiments on a few worlds in the fringes of the universe, I haven’t delved into my powers of creation very much. Now, though, might be the time to put my knowledge into practice.
While the council forbade me from smiting his soul into smitherines for his impudence, I am able to use my servants to destroy his body, and pull his soul into Laeddus. To do this, I have decided to use my godly abilities of creation to build a construct to kill the worm. Unfortunately, the bug has a rather annoying ability, so I must create something strong enough to beat it.
Hmmm... Yes, I’ll use this part, and that one too. Oh! This piece seems rather interresting, I’ll add it as well.
After cobbling together my beast from several parts I had lying around, I stepped back and admired my yet soulless creation.
It was huge, bigger than most of my previous creations, perhaps a hundred humanoids stacked on top of each other? It stood on four behemoths of legs, each with a wide, reinforced knee in the middle, to allow it to move with a semblance of dexterity. These legs held up a thick torso resembling horse’s. At the back of the torso, a long thick tail swished around in the air, which was rather intimidating, considering the spiked mace head at the end of it. In the middle of the torso were two rows of slits, which opened and closed periodically, allowing the creature to breath in and out with a deep rumbling.
The main torso was tapered towards the front, in order to keep balance, as the front of it held up a second torso, humanoid in appearance. The second torso was well muscled, thick enough to support it’s three sets of arms and the horned head atop it.
The arms were also humanoid, though they ended in deadly four fingered clawed hands. They each also held aloft six different weapons, each forged by the god of metals himself, as the repayment of a favour to me. From the bottom right up, and then down to the bottom left, they were: a long epoch made for stabbing, a wide scimitar, a spiked battlehammer, a flanged mace, a sharp longsword, and a leaf bladed boar spear.
The head was something I am especially proud of, since I created it on the spot, something entirely new that the universe has never seen. It was reminiscent of a bulls head, with sharp curved horns and an elongated mouth, though it had no nose, just slits for nostrils. The mouth was especially cruel looking, extending halfway around it’s head with six rows of sharp teeth that curved inward. It had four red tinted half moon shaped eyes, built like a fly’s allowing it to see everything in it’s field of view at once.

It was... Magnificent. Easily my best creation yet. I smiled, briefly considering bedding this masterpiece before I sent it out to do my bidding, but it probably wouldn’t survive the experience, so I held back my desires.
All it needed now was a soul, and I promptly grabbed one that was lying around, and wiped it’s memories before shoving it into my creation. Upon recieving it’s soul, it’s eyes lit up with intelligence, and, recognizing me as it’s master, it kneeled down and bowed before me.
Still smiling, I showed it an image of the worm who had wronged me, and said to it in a language understood by all beings, “Your name shall be Bashetuul, The Destroyer. For now, you will travel to a mortal world and kill this being. If your work pleases me, I may deign to reward you. Now go.”. I opened a portal to the world where the worm resided, and Bashetuul made his way through. Hmmm, he was dreadfully slow, perhaps I should change his legs out for something more mobile.
After he stepped through the portal, I conjured up a comfortable chair, and settled in to watch the delightful destruction my creation will be causing.
... Wait a minute, what is this?! The worm almost seems to be putting up a fight! Of course, he is no match for my Bashetuul, but still... Perhaps I need to punish my little beast rather than reward him...
Eventually, Bashetuul managed to strike him down, and his soul drifted into my realm. Excited, I pulled Bashetuul back into Laeddus and had him kneel to my left, and brought the worm’s soul before me.
For a moment, I pondered what to do with this insolent creature, but before I could do anything, a flash of light lit up my domain, and Xxanos, in all his arrogant glory stood before me. Hastily, I stood up and bowed to him. As much as I despised it, there was simply no way I could go against the old man.
“Father, to what may I owe the pleasure of your... Sudden visit?”, I asked.
“You know what, child! Your sister has informed of your most recent trouble making escapade.” He replied.
Uh oh. He sounds angry.
“But father, this creature was-”, I began.
“No buts!”, He shouted, his voiced rumbling around my domain. Bashetuul even trembled a bit.
He sighed, before stroking his long white beard, thinking. I stayed silent, waiting for his verdict.
He glanced at the worms soul, before saying, “Alright, I will allow you to send this being to whichever world you please. However, in recompense for your actions, he shall be allowed to retain his memory, as well as this peculiar ability he seems to hold. Am I understood?”
“Yes, father...”, I mumbled, glaring at his feet.
He sighed again, before saying, “Really, child. Why must you be such a trouble maker? You are lucky I didn’t send you to Delorias.”
I said nothing, and he disapeared in another flash of light.
I turned my glare to the soul in front of me, though it didn’t even cower - what impudence! Damn that meddling sister of mine, she always ruins my fun!Grumbling, I began searching through the various worlds, looking for one to suit my needs.
Aha! This one is perfect. This world is a melting pot of sorts for all the gods’ creations. I’m pretty sure just about every god or goddess has left some sort of mark on it, be it a humanoid, a monster, or a dungeon, there were even a few godly artifacts here and there.
I observed the world for awhile, and soon picked a species of humanoids that were treated particularly badly by the others. Grinning, I quickly found a soulless body, and sent the worms sould on it’s way.
Somewhat content, I sat back on my chair, and turned my now lustful gaze to bashetuul. He had a new mission to set upon.
