Mayhem on the road

Mayhem on the road

Everything suddenly stopped. The people walking stood still, staring at the road, all the traffic halted, not even a breath could be heard, the world was astonished by what had happened. Lataio, still in the middle of the street, in shock, couldn’t stop trembling. The driver of the car that had been lightly hit got out and walked over to inspect the car stuck to his. Eyes fixed on the scene, he turned his head to look at the car that had crashed. The driver’s hands were glued to the steering wheel, wearing the same expression of disbelief. Other drivers began stepping out of their vehicles. The pressure was mounting, but no emotion was showing. The cold, frozen silence was different from the harmonic peace that wasn’t being felt.

“You...” said the driver in a dry tone towards the one who had caused the bump, “have you seen what you’ve done?” His voice now showing some emotion, as if his tone grew as he choked with anger. “Who’s going to fix this?” Now clearly enraged, he began approaching the window of the driver, whose hands started trembling while still on the wheel. Lataio saw how people were beginning to gather, and some were staring at him.

“This is going to turn into something I don’t want to be blamed for,” he thought to himself as he took off running. “You... stop... don’t let him escape!” yelled a man as Lataio rushed past him, knocking him against the car door.

"You're going to pay for this, I'm going to break you!" the driver screamed. With a punch against the hood of the car that had bumped him, the furious driver was now pounding on the window of the other driver. In a reaction that took him by surprise, the other driver opened his door with force, the metal edge catching the aggressor and making him stumble backwards. In one animalistic, coordinated move, the now-in-control driver grabbed his head and slammed it through the window. The glass shattered over his head, his neck cut and bleeding from the shards. With that, silence returned to reign. All the spectators stood watching the scene of the man who was now dying on the ground, unable to breathe due to the flow of blood that was choking him.

"The blood-marked driver, in shock, turned his back, got into his car, and started the engine. Impatiently, he began to maneuver aggressively, trying to force his way through as the others remained outside their vehicles. Then it happened. All the cars programmed to avoid accidents began to move in unison, but the space was too tight from the previous chaos, and the drivers were on the road where they didn't belong. The systems failed to calculate them properly, resulting in collisions that sparked mayhem."

Dozens of drivers were now being run over by their own cars. The scene was surreal and unimaginably brutal, with body parts being completely crushed, screams of hysteria echoing around them. Drivers leaped into their cars only to explode forward at high speeds, pushing the system to its limits until one driver collided with a traffic light.

In that instant, the entire network collapsed, and chaos spread to all the roads. The drivers, lacking the skill and reflexes to maneuver safely, plunged into disaster. The situation spiraled out of control.

Pedestrians passing by became victims of the reckless driving and the disintegration of the systems. Disasters multiplied, gaining epic proportions, while no survival plan was in place—accidents, injuries, diseases, and adverse situations had never been programmed.
