—254th day of the Year 507(Zoldian Calendar)---
A mini-submarine was scouring the floor of the True Ocean, there was nothing but sand, not even algae or fish.
“Maaan, this the third day we are here and we still haven’t found anything, not even a single ruin from that Untold Era of this nuts.” Mark said while watching through the windows.
“Relax Mark, we will find something. We are the best in the Search & Recovery Team after all.” Connor said while controlling the submarine. It was small enough to fit two people and all the necessary things, like tools, instant food and water in a refrigerator, a hob, two beds and the seats for the helms.
“Connor…we are literally the worsts in the Team.” Mark was looking at Connor with pity “You still didn’t get over it right?”
Connor remained silent.
Mark sighed “Listen. I know it was your dream to be the best helm of the S&R Team because you wanted to find proof of past civilisations of this Untold Era you are so obsessed about. But you are 30 years old, those stories are for children and the only proof you have is a dirty piece of glass your father found 20 years ago, confused for a Crystal.”
Connor’s expression changed. He wanted to be angry and say Mark was wrong but, deep in his heart knew, he was right because that piece was found on a beach, probably transported by the waves. Some researchers examined it, but it turned out to be just an old piece of glass; everyone believed those words except for Connor’s father. He was sure what he found was an Energy Crystal, used by some civilisation over a thousand years ago, and that politicians were trying to hide this because it would have unveiled the past of this world, no one believed those words, only his son believed in his words. One month later this event, Connor’s father disappeared during an exploration in the depth of the True Ocean.
Connor’s dream was to revenge his father and find the truth about this world…but after more than 20 years, he lost any hope.
“...onnor!”
“Hey, Connor!” Max’s shouting interrupted Connor’s thoughts. “Look at that!” Max’s finger was pointing at a chasm in front of their submarine.
“A chasm? Is that on the map?” Connor was in disbelief. They started going around the chasm. It was not the first chasm they have seen but it seemed, without a doubt, the biggest one yet.
Taken from Royal Road, this narrative should be reported if found on Amazon.
Meanwhile, Max was looking at an old map of that area. He shook his head “No, it isn’t on the map. A chasm this big appeared out of nowhere, how is this possible?”
“I don’t know…Let’s contact the HQ.”
Max nodded and pulled out a blue conch shell from a brown sack that was at the right of his seat and brought it near his mouth and started speaking.
“HQ! HQ! This is Max from Submarine N.4 of the S&R Team, can you hear me?”
After some seconds, a serious female voice was heard from the shell.
“Yes, we can hear you. You are with Connor at Area Nord of the True Ocean right?”
Connortoo the blue shell out of Max’s hands and shouted “Hi honey! Is this your first day at the HQ??”
“Yes and please Connor don’t shout like this. The Captain is hearing the conversation.”
“O-Oh. Sorry, Emma.” he said a bit embarrassed.
She giggled a bit “That’s ok. Now, is there any update from your area?”
Max took the shell “Yes, another charm has formed and this is the biggest one yet”
“I see. You can return to the Island now-”
“Wait a minute!” Connor’s shouting interrupted Emma “Someone came out of the Charm!”
“Someone?! There is no way a human could survive at the bottom of the Ocean! We are talking about 11 km(36089,2 ft)!”
“Unfortunately, Connor is not having any hallucinations. I’m seeing him too.”
The frontal lights of the submarine were pointing towards that humanoid creature, his skin was pale, his eyes were white, his hairs were long and black, had a great muscular body and his hands and feet were palmed. There was a green crystal embedded in his chest and a blue one on his neck.
Max immediately pushed to button to shoot the big harpoon that was installed on the submarine, it had the same width as a cannonball but the creature stopped with his bare hands. A harpoon that should have been impossible to block.
“We are dead…” Max started shaking with fear
At first, the humanoid was looking at the submarine, then his gaze stopped on Connor.
After making eye contact, Connor, once again, took the shell out of Marx’s hand “Hey Emma. How was the test..?” his voice was full of fear…
…and from what Max said and Connor’s Voice, she understood what was going to happen to him “...It’s positive. We’ll have a baby, honey.”
He tried to not cry “I’m…so happy…not only for the kid. I also found out, he is alive-”
The humanoid threw the harpoon against the thick glass of the submarine and broke it.
Their short screams were the last thing Emma heard through the shell.
