CHAPTER TWO : This Has To Be Hell

CHAPTER TWO : This Has To Be Hell

Perplexed by the headline 'PROFESSOR ZAYLOF FINDS AN ANGEL THAT COULD SAVE HUMANITY FROM DEMONS' I continue reading the newspaper.

'After the despairing beginning of the demon invasion, professor Zaylof discloses hopeful info about some ancient artifact that he found buried deep under one of the Egyptian pyramids. He argues that the ancient artifact is the wings of an angel named Lerian and after many experiments, he found that the artifact responds to innocent souls: the nearer and the more innocent someone is to the wings, the brighter the wings shone. he chose the most innocent human souls who are kids between the age of 7 to 10 that included his son and placed them near the wings only for the wings to bond with his only son, rayan, and  manifest into what looked like an angle that radiated bright yellow light that he referred to as the 'light of hope' then reverted back to his son's body with wings on his back.

is this the true light of hope that will save us all. will we finally be free from the fear of demons'

I didn't understand a thing, even though it was all driving me crazy: how I survived being burned in that incinerator, that it has been a hundred years since then, that echo asking me whether I wish to live or not, that everything around me is burning or destroyed, that there are dead bodies everywhere, and whatever was in that newspaper, I needed answers very very badly.

I continued walking lost in thought until I reached my, or what looked like the debris of my school, I wouldn't have known it was my school if the huge bell that has its logo on it was smashed violently on the ground , the logo was a flag with an open book that emitted light inside , I was always fond of that logo back in the time.

whatever smashed that bell was huge.....too huge that it could grab such an enormous bell from a huge school building and smash it to the ground.

I looked at what was left of my school and thought how terrible the things are around here the cool grass I used to sit on with my friends Bayrauk, Maria, and Cassie, was burnt and the library books were torn apart and thrown all around.  this has to be hell, this can't be earth anymore!

I didn't meet any living thing, let alone a human being and I started losing hope thinking that the humans died in that demon invasion and I was better off not wishing to live again if anything I am now was to be described as living. I didn't feel pain, starvation, thirst, or any human emotions other than the despair I feel now and my heart didn't even beat once ever since I got out of that pit.

Support creative writers by reading their stories on Royal Road, not stolen versions.

I continued walking without a destination wishing that I could come across anything alive in this hell.

the sun started setting and the threads of the night were taking over the sky just when I heard a voice somewhere from afar to my right; I started running towards it with the hope that it could be a living thing.

and there it was, between a narrow alley... a disgusting 5-meter tall dark purple monster with a drooling mouth filled with unaligned pointy, curvy teeth and a bloodshot eye with a triangular iris that stared at me while I halted to a stop  2 meters away from it. the more I looked at it the worse it got, that thing had three horns: 2 large ones on both sides of its eye and a short one between them, 4 arms with spikes all around them were sticking out of his long, slender neck, and down that long neck of his was  a big jelly stomach with a tail coming out of. it looked at me growling for about of 5 seconds then it screamed loudly and screeched one of its arms on the buildings on the right side of the alley while aiming to smash me into the buildings to my left and it hit me so hard that the spikes on its arms left holes on the right side of my abdomen and destroyed the building I was smashed right into; I heard my bones break.

even though I didn't feel pain or bleed, I struggled to stand on my legs for some time but I did just in time when I heard a scream coming from far away.

"INNCOMINGGG!"

and suddenly someone appeared with giant brown arms that were two times the length and width of normal human arms with dark blue carvings that shone brightly and sharp black claws that had emitted black vapor as he was falling diagonally into the thing's eyes smashing it dead to the ground

"Oh...., that was an easy one." He said while his arms reverted back to the normal human sized arms and hand and the carvings stopped shining but stayed on his arms

"r-r-rau....i-i-s....th-tha-..... y-y-ou" I said then held my throat, because what did I expect with a dry mouth caused by dehydration? of course I wouldn't talk easily but I knew it was Bayrauk, one of my greatest friends and I couldn't believe he was still alive...let alone...being exactly like I saw him last time at that construction site, ignoring the fact that he has weird tattoos that shine.

he looked at me totally surprised.

"Matt.....Wait....MATT, YOU ARE ALIVE !!" Bayrauk said running at me.

"Oh god, Matt, you look.....terrible......."

I looked at him one, not knowing what to say but even if i knew, i couldn't speak.

"oooh wait till the others see you, man." Bayrauk said, which meant that my friends, from a hundred years ago, are still alive .
