Prologue. The Last Atrocity.

Prologue. The Last Atrocity.

A small girl with a tiara and a puffy white dress runs through the empty halls of the marble castle, arms flapping around like she is a bird. Her adorable and innocent giggling is enough to melt the coldest of hearts as she is excited for the wedding today.

Mira finally reaches the big wooden doors preventing her from entering the Church part to the castle and she jumps to grab the handle. With a few hops, Mira fails every time while letting out a gentle "Eh" each times she does so.

This goes on for a few minutes before Mira finally decides to put all of her effort into one big jump. Slightly biting her lip and going into an intense state of focus, Mira squats down and puts all of her strength into her tiny legs. Finally releasing her true potential, Mira sores into the air and is able to grab the handle but she flies past it and has to let go.

Mira can feel hands on her sides and soon she can feel something cold nip at her bottom. She looks down to see a familiar face of a big burly man covered in glimmering plate armor. Lionel gives her a toothy grin as he saw the poor girl having troubles and decided to help her out a bit and put the young princess on his shoulder.

With her pride being hurt that she couldn't reach the door handle herself, Mira looks away from Lionel and gives him a loud "Hmph!" as to not acknowledge the fact she needed help. A thick accent that most can hardly understand erupts from within Lionel's body.

"Come on young princess, that's not very lady like of you. How do you think your sister would feel if she saw you with that face?" Lionel says with a rough and expressive voice that echoes throughout the hallway. Mira still sits there, putting on a facade that seems to be sturdier than stone.

Lionel finally gives up and uses his secret move to eliminate the the devastating threat before of a princess with their pride hurt. Lionel's hand reaches the side of the princess and begins to wiggle up and down, tickling her. Mira is quick to crack as the cute sound of giggling once again echoes throughout the hallways. With a smile on Mira's face, he decides that it is about time to enjoy the beautiful ceremony planned out for the night.

Before his hand wrapped in metal clad can touch the handle, the door is pulled open from the inside. With the two doors opening by themselves, an alluring sound fills the young princess and Royal Guard's ears. The person who managed to open the door falls to the ground in front of two and startles them. The alluring sound continues and a heavenly voice fills the air.

"Someday I'll wish upon a star and wake up where the clouds are far behind, meeeee." sings a heavenly voice that echoes throughout Mira and Lionel's soul.

Lionel can feel his eyes begin to become heavier and heavier as the magic of the music begins to take affect. He falls to one knee and puts the princess down from his shoulder from fear of falling over. The sound of a ukulele continues on and so does the singing of the Demon of Song.

"Where trouble melts like lemon drops, high above the chimney top that's where you'll find meeeee."

Confused on what is making this amazing sound, Mira spins in circles looking for the cause of the music in the room, mainly looking up towards the ceiling. She soon spots a figure sitting in a open window high above the ground. His eyes are closed as he continues singing and soon Lionel falls to the ground, unconscious. Mira looks at what happened to Lionel and becomes scared as her best friend suddenly fell with no warning.

The sound of Lionel's metal armor hitting the floor interrupts the music and ultimately causes it to abruptly stop. Mira is becoming more and more terrified as she finally sees what is going on. Everyone in the room is on the ground like Lionel, asleep due to the soothing music that was being played. Mira looks back up to where the figure was sitting to see why the music stopped and to ask him what was going on but he was gone.

"Oh, it seems you have arrived just on time, Demon of Song."

The voice of Mira's sister, Laura breaks the silence in the room and causes Mira to do a complete 180 degree turn. Mira's eyes are wide open as she seems the a tall person looming over her beloved sister with a knife to Laura's throat. Mira's knees begin to clatter as they hit each other from the fear she can feel raising within her.

'Is this an assassination? I thought Uncle Idel was going to hire men to protect us!' Mira thinks to herself. The tall figure lets out a long sigh and seems hesitant about finishing what he came here for. This was a truly odd request from his closest friend and he didn't want to do it but the contract he made binded him to do so.

Mira can't do anything and she falls to the ground with her face in her hands with tears flowing from her eyes.

'Why can't I do anything! Why am I so weak?! Why can't I save sis?!'

"I am sorry Laura... You didn't deserve this fate."

The sound of flesh being sliced echoes throughout the room as Mira doesn't have the courage to look up from her hands, she just keeps crying. It's not long before footsteps are heard coming from the hall behind Mira. Mira doesn't want to move as the fear inside of her is preventing her from doing so.

"Mira! Mira! Mira! What is happening."

The soothing voice of Mira's soon to be Uncle, Idel, fills her ears and snaps Mira out of her fear strucken state. Mira looks up from her hands and can see red painted on the statue of God and the walls behind him. A woman with a beautiful crimson dress lay on the floor in front of God, headless.

Mira can feel more tears begin to stream from her eyes as she knows that the dress was originally white and that person is her sister's. Soon Idel enters the church and sees his niece sitting on the floor of, making him fully aware of the situation. His face goes white as Idel sees the person who he was supposed to marry headless, on the floor. He collapses to his knees and lands right besides Mira.

Idel's heart sinks to the bottom of his chest as he looks around to see what had happened to everyone else in the room. He quickly realizes that everyone else is asleep and this was the work of someone Idel knows a fair bit about. Seeing that Mira is just sitting there, staring at her sister's corpse, Idel pulls Mira into his chest and hugs her closely. Mira wraps her arms around Idel and begins to cry loudly in agony.

Idel stares up at the painting on the ceiling and lets out a loud howl.

"WHY NOVA? WHY TODAY?!"

"Well it's simple Idel, it was her time. You should've know that as much as my contractor did."

Idel's head snaps towards a window in the room and can see a dark figure with a single and bright yellow eye. Idel's grip on Mira becomes tighter and a purple emits from the floor of the Church. Nova simply laughs at Idel's Gravity Magic and a dark vapor quickly shrouds the assassin in mist. As the mist disappears, so doesn't Nova and the purple light in the room begins to fade and so does Mira's consciousness as she can't deal with the stress of the loss of her sister.

A snowflake hits Mira's nose and snaps her out of her daydreaming. Mira shakes her head to rid herself of her darkest memories. The dim light of a small and desolate village comes into view.

The carriage bumps Mira back and forth as it isn't made for the poorly taken care of road. Lionel looks back at Mira and her 2 knights to make sure Mira is mentally stable for the mission they were assigned to.

"We are almost here Mira, are you sure you still want to do this?" Lionel says in his usual accent. Mira turns to Lionel and gives him a face of confidence and vengeance.

"Yes I am Lionel. We will bring back Nova, the Demon of Song at all costs."
