Omen (2)

*Divine Realm, Sumerian Pantheon*

*CRAAACK!!!*

Alerted by the violent sound created by the shattered divine artifact, a pair of eyes filled with divine brilliance and majesty opened abruptly.

Instantly locking onto the direction where the sound originated from, the eyes seemed to peer through space and time itself, thus showing the previous actions of the two major gods who were responsible for disturbing this deity's rest.

Rising up from his golden throne, Anu, the personification of the sky and the king of the Sumerian gods took a small step forward and instantly travelled tens of thousands of kilometers, seemingly bending space according to his own will.

Now floating in front of the few levitating shards that remained from the Pearl of Sealing, the King of Gods studied the rapidly disintegrating mountaintop and the dust and ashes that continued to contaminate more and more of the divine material.

"Dust, the Beginning of everything... Ashes, the End of everything... two opposites that shouldn't coexist" As he continued to observe what should have been impossible, the amputated mountaintop continued to disintegrate into the corrosive mix of ashes and dust.

Just before the last, thin layer of divine rock disappeared, Anu raised his hands to perform a series of hand signs.

As he continued to perform these signs, the space around the contaminated divine rock began to bend, effectively creating a sphere of space-energy that sealed all of the ashes and dust, thus preventing any of it from spreading to the rest of the divine realm.

Although Ishkur and Utu had previously though that this corrosive dust could dissintegrate anything, they had clearly underestimated the strength of a Peak God-Monarch as Anu easily contained the situation.

"Hmm?" Although containing the problem was easy, the root cause still remained as even he, the king of gods could not easily destroy or dissipate this horrendous anomaly.

"Ishkur, Utu" Addressing the two responsible gods with a tone of authority and majesty, Anu shifted his eyes from the sphere of space-energy to the shivering gods, who now lacked their previous arrogance as they knew they were barely nothing before their divine ruler.

"Y-yes your majesty"

"This.. anomaly.. is something that goes against the order of the universe... something you two are not capable of summoning, you two are therefore not directly responsible for this." Despite Anu declaring that they weren't responsible, Ishkur and Utu could not help but feel slightly insulted as the king of gods clearly disregarded their divination abilities.

"However... you are now tasked with studying and tracking the origin of this anomaly" As Anu's next words interrupted their thoughts, expressions of pure horror began to appear on their faces.

"Yes your majesty" Although they vividly recalled the suffering they had experienced due to this dust just minutes before, they knew that disobeying his majesty's order would lead to an even worse fate.

"Good, this sealing method will last as long as I am alive, assuming this anomaly doesn't grow stronger, which means that the two of you will have to trace it's origin before it's strengthened.. otherwise..." Despite not finishing his sentence, the two gods clearly understood that failure was not an option and quickly nodded their heads.

Seeing that Ishkur and Utu were aware of their task, Anu raised his left hand and performed a swiping motion which sent the space-energy sphere in to one of the most secure and secret halls in Ishkur's divine temple.

Having now handled the situation Anu turned around and once gain took a small step forward, instantly disappearing from the his position and reappearing on his throne.

"Ashes and Dust, an anomaly indeed..." Seated on his throne, a cold but apprehensive glint appeared in his eyes as he began to peer through space and time, trying to find an answer to what could have caused these elements of opposing powers to coexist in a single entity.
