I woke up under the shade of the trees as a hint of wind pull me out of my drowsiness.
* Where… am I?
Looking around, there was only grass and sky as far as the eyes could see.
* What the, huh?
I rubbed my eyes and looked around.
I had little pieces of memories, and I tried to remember more.
Right, right, I was walking to school.
Yes, I had woken up early like I’ve always done, and I headed to school after my brother, whom headed out even earlier than me.
What exactly happened?
I had spaced out when passing the road, and a truck crashed into me…
That bastard, the light showed that pedestrians were to start walking, and that cars should let the walkers go by first.
Well, I can’t blame them, I should’ve been more careful as well…
Back to the topic at hand, where am I?
I pushed myself up and looked at my hands.
Well, it was instinct, but I realized I was holding onto a rolled up sheet of… brown leather?
Curious, I unrolled it and read the strange markings, which I somehow was able to read.
Weird.
The strange writings said:
What?
I continued reading.
* …
What…
I could feel my vein pop, but I can’t help but snort at the weird letter of apology.
I continued to read.
What…
By the way, they should be laying next to you.>
* Wait, what.
I looked at the tree, but no one was laying upon the big log, so I circled around.
And what do you know, there was a girl laying there.
She had dark black hair.
Her skin was pale, and she seemed to be sleeping comfortably in her school uniform.
Wait, school uniform?
Our school doesn’t have school uniforms, I don’t attend any school that has uniforms.
And I'm pretty sure none of the schools in my country had uniforms either.
Unless universities do, they don’t, right?
Or… I’m just completely mistaken and that isn’t a school uniform.
Well, who is she?
Was she from a different place?
I continued reading to find a clue.
<…I should probably continue from the beginning.>
You got that right.
High class if I do say so myself.> * Oh… mages…? I meant to ask the destined hero to help fight the Demon Lord. The demon lord is strong, by the way.> * … Problem. Leonhart is not a boy like in the legends, strange… oh well.> Don’t just sweep that under the rug! It might be important! You might have picked up the wrong person! Oops.> This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there. Another vein popped from my arm. Plus, I can’t revive you in your world due to the natural order… Sorry, truly, sorry.> * … Okay… Teehee, please complete my quest for me!> I think my vein will literally pop today if I continue reading this. < But, but, I’ll try to find a way to send you back to your world without disrupting the order! Please wait until then, sorry, and, c’ya!> * … I let out a sigh. At least they are willing to help me find a way home. … But do I really want to go back? My life there was nothing but a pain. Everyday was the same: Work, chores, study, study, study, study, oh, and sometimes, study. I never had a goal to begin with, my life was stupidly ordinary, and I… Well, enough of that. I can just tell them that it’s okay to not bring me back to my old life, I’ll probably like it here. Because… Magic! They did mention that they were a mage! Plus, ressurection spells! Cool! I’ve always loved magic, I wonder what I can do with magic. Well, I’ll have to learn more about it to get the jist of it. …I wonder if I can make weak magic strong like some heroes in novels do- * Hmm? Startled, I looked down and saw that the girl had woken up. * AH! The girl shouted randomly. * WAH! I followed suit. * Where am I?! She screamed as she looks around, panicked. * Huh? Mister?! Do you know where we are?! * What?! Uh, y-, no, yes?! “Mister?” * Where are we then, mister?! * Ugh, uh, different! Different world!? I blurted in a panic. Hold up, “Mister?!” * Different… world?! * I… I don’t know?! Yes?! Prob, Yes! My mind started to get more clear as I remember the letter in my hand. * Wait, wait, wait, calm down! You’re making me panic, too! * How can I calm down?! * Just calm down!? We both breathe in silence as we try to calm down, both taking in deep breaths. * Fuoou. She breathed out. I sighed as we both finally calmed down, and I explained everything to her. Leaving out my part, of course. All I told her was that she was the hero, and.. Well, I lied a bit, too, saying that I was only here to tell her that. …I guess that ain’t really a lie though. * So… I am supposed to be a hero? Her innocence made me smile on the inside. * Yep. I smiled outly. * And I need to fight the… Demon Lord…? * Yep, yep. * And how exactly do I… start…? I felt bricks dropped on me. Duh-Dun! It goes. I don’t know either! How am I supposed to?! I was just randomly dragged along! * Er… uh… * I… don’t really want to either… What, what, what?! You are a chosen one! Special! How come you don’t want to?! Well, taking things into consideration, I guess most wouldn’t want to either. It was too much of a hassle, and, not to mention, dangerous. But since I proclaimed myself as a guide, I guess I’ll help the guy out with their quest. * But. Please! You must! My family will die! I’m sorry for being selfish…! I just…!... just… Okay… I guess I’ll try to return you. I’m sorry… we should deal with this ourselves… I do think my acting was pretty good. Because this girl is so innocent, I am sure she’ll accept. Sorry about this. When I looked up, I can see the girl struggling to make a decision. I smirked to myself, of course, I didn’t show her that smirk. * Oh, you don’t have to force yourself! I’m sorry to drag you into this… I’ll… go talk with the knights and see if we’ll be able to return you… This is it! My trump card, the, “act damaged and vulnerable” technique. I could see her face making a decision. This is it! * …I’ll help you! The girl grinned bravely. … I feel sorry for the girl, but I don’t want to get caught up in this. I just want to learn magic and explore! * Thank you! I’m sorry for the trouble! I thanked her and pounce down to hug her. Heheh. I then pulled myself off, and looked down to the ground. * …You… really don’t have to force yourself to do this… This is going to hit the nail on the head! * Un. The girl shook her head. * I can’t just leave someone in danger for my selfishness, I’ll help you out, mister! The girl exclaimed. * Thank you so much, hero! I jumped on her for another hug. Wait… * Why do you call me “Mister?” I asked as I parted away. The girl tilted her head slightly to the right. * Are you not a guy, mister? You look awfully like one. That will hurt any women’s pride, you know! Unless I look handsome, I won’t complain to that. * Or is it because you are a young one, mister! I’m sorry! The girl bowed frentfully. Do you mean to say I look old, too?! Ugh… there goes my mental pride as a women. Cries. I’m only sixteen, just so you know! How do I even look old?! But… I’m not a guy though? I looked at the innocent girl in the eyes, and she stared back, mesmerized. Wait. I can see my reflection. Short white hair and a chiseled face. Wide, broad shoulders and slightly muscular, wearing horribly tattered clothing, which was probably from the car crash. Good thing I usually wear clothes bigger than myself, but no wonder it felt tight. Huh… white hair… maybe that's why she thought I was old. Wait… I’m… a guy?! How dense can I be to not notice this?! No wonder I felt a bump between my legs! Just then, the words from the letter flashed through my head. So… this is what they meant?! I do look handsome though… but that is besides the point! Why am I a guy?! * Hey! Who are you two?! Another problem occured?!
