Nero had taken naps back in the day, but none of his naps made him feel like he had fought two armies single handedly while having been stabbed in the back countless times. But his pains were just a minor part of the problem. He had suffered worse before, and he knew a dull ache in the body would pass away with some proper healing spells. The biggest problem was the woman who was staring at him with large blue eyes. Her face was awfully close to him, and if anything, it registered shock.
Of course, such a natural reaction…she is, after all, at the presence of the mighty demon king himself!
But he couldn’t believe she had come to visit him in such erotic clothing. Whatever abomination she wore ended up in her thighs, and her white sleeveless dress hung loose around her body. Even her brown hair fell down loosely rather than being braided or tied to the back.
Huh, a prostitute perhaps…a sneaky trick of the hero to deceive me. But I shall not be wavered.
But he had to admit the girl looked pretty. And her eyes looked innocent for an assassin meant to kill him.
“State your purpose before you feel my wrath!” he uttered with his most deep voice, but then found out his voice wasn’t deep as he expected. In fact, his throat felt sore. It felt like he hadn’t drunk a single drop of water in years.
“Waaah!” The girl screamed and scrambled back.
“That’s right, that is how you should fear me!” Nero grinned. He tried to stand, but felt as if he was lifting five men on his back. His body felt heavy, and the pain amplified each time he moved a body part.
“What have you done to me?” he tried to use his healing spells, but his magic cores felt completely empty. “Are you with the hero? Is this one of his new schemes?”
“What are you even talking about?” the girl cocked her head, but slowly stood up. “J-just wait there-I’m going to call Chloe.”
“You are calling for aid?”
“Yes, you can call that-”
“Hah! Then it has been one of your plans all along.”
He shouldn’t have trusted her innocent eyes. The innocent ones were the most trickiest.
The girl looked confused rather than victorious. “I think you’ve drunk too much.”
“Yes, whatever you fed me-”
He stopped as he heard a sound similar to a cow mooing, but high pitched. He turned to his left to see a very strange object move with wheels. They were smaller than carriage wheels, but it definitely moved faster than a carriage. The rest of the body was made of what looked like painted red iron. It even had the looks of a royal carriage, with two windows fixed on the side.
The narrative has been illicitly obtained; should you discover it on Amazon, report the violation.
“What is that?” he snapped. He really wished he could stand. With his magic core empty he could only resort to bluffing.
“It’s a car.” Now the girl looked amused. “Are you having amnesia?”
“What’s amnesia?”
There was footsteps behind her. The wooden door to her left sprang open, and a short blond haired woman emerged out, her eyes blazing. She was wearing clothes similar to her sister, but with her trousers more longer and her blouse hiding a rather large bust.
“Kathie! I heard you scream-”
Then she met his eyes.
Now this woman is something, Nero looked at those dangerous blue eyes. They didn’t have a shred of innocence as they bore into him.
“I was right,” she marched towards Nero in a steady pace. “He’s not some tramp. He’s a sick pervert.”
Her foot came down, and Nero saw it so easily he could have dodged it. But in his frozen body he could only feel the foot land on his chest, taking out the little breath he had with him.
“Wait, Chloe!” the girl called Katie sprang at her, pulling her back. “I think he’s not on his right mind.”
“Did he try to touch you?” she glared at Nero. “If you’ve done something to my sister you are so dead-”
“So sisters!” Nero groaned, using the little energy that was left within him to rub off his chest. “What squad of assassins do you belong to? The Ridgemounts? I’ve apologized enough for burning your village!”
The two sisters looked at each other.
“I think he has amnesia,” Katie said.
“I do not have whatever that you speak of!” Nero looked around him. The buildings beside the alleyway had grown taller. And to his right there was a funny looking glass building with flowers on it. Beside it what looked like a very clean street. Even air was refreshing to breathe. It was no longer the stench of smoke, blood and war. “I do not know what trick you have done, but at least pat your backs! You managed to temporarily defeat the great demon king Nero Alrac Zolt!”
“You are right,” the blond haired woman removed her foot. “The bastard has drunk too much. Let’s go in and close the door. The cleaning crew will take care of him in the evening.”
“Did he say demon king?” Katie’s eyes glistened but faltered at the look of her sister.
“He’s a drunk! Leave him be.”
The big sister gripped the hand of the little one and dragged her away. It was at that moment Nero realized he should at least put his pride aside to understand the situation.
Perhaps they are just operators. I’ll have to wait to see who the real culprit is.
“Wait,” he said, swallowing his pride. “At least give me some water.”
“How about no?” The blond woman snapped, but Katie shrugged her off.
“That’s cruel. At least we should help him!”
“He’s a person with a fucked up life, and we leave him to enjoy his fucked up life.”
So she was a moralist. There were assassins of that sort. Nero hated them the most. Damn hypocrites.
The two sisters went on a staring contest, and Katie seemed to win because the blond one just shrugged her shoulders. “Fine, just some water.”
“And at least let’s help him find out where he is.”
Before the blonde one could reply Katie was out of sight. Then she turned to Nero, as if all of this was his fault. “You better not try anything on my sister!”
“I am the demon king of the Zolt clan!” Nero snapped, feeding whatever energy he had left to his voice. “I have far better things to do rather than being with two fancily dressed women. If you could explain what sort of poison you have fed me then perhaps I can find a way out of this mess. And where is General Kronos? He was supposed to monitor the castle security!”
The blond woman rubbed her temples, then walked back in, leaving Nero in the empty alleyway.
Well, Nero leaned on the wall. At least they are not attackers. That’s a good starting point.
It was just a starting point. There was many to be answered.
