In a tomb below the land of Elysium, or known as the “Dead Land”, a figure is holding a couple of humans on the palm of his hands. He is by no means small. The very stature of his height is completely intimidating. Very suitable if factoring the appearance of this figure. Just looking at this demon like thing makes a person believe it was some sort of Evil God who had descended from the Higher Plane.

Verath Dragnel
He can feel himself sleeping in a deep sleep. Sleeping for a long time. Sleeping in the endless empty void.
When was the last time he woke? When was the time he thought when he was awake? What exactly did he do before he slept? Everything was blank. It has been like this for such a very long time. It felt like an eternity, never ending. Always continuing without question or doubt.
Within this endless void, he recalled his playmate, Michael, a “God” who played a little chess game with him using their subjects as pieces as they control the events of the world as if they are gods. Well they were gods to begin with. While Michael is “God”, Verath is known as the “Demon God.” They both didn’t know how they were born or popped into existence or how they knew what god they were. It was as if they were born with that knowledge from the start.
When they play their little game, each one ends with one side containing huge estruction. Varying from millions of deaths of mortals or important cities, buildings, and towns being destroyed and annihilated into nothing. The game always takes place in the Mortal Realm where elves, Demi-humans, Humans, and dwarfs exist. Not to forgot about the dragons who were quite an abnormal race whose power is very tyrannical. If there is a rank system in that Mortal Realm, the Dragons are surely the top existence there.
The World is divided into 3 realms. The Heaven Realm, the Mortal Realm, and the Demon Realm. The Mortal Realm was already explained. The Heaven Realm is the home of the angels and where mortals who have a good amount of Good Karma and are then reincarnated into that realm without their memories intact. Those who have died would lose their memories and are then judged by the system created by Verath and Michael whether they go to the Demon Realm known as hell, or the Heaven Realm, which is already called Heaven. For the Demon Realm, the demons reside there and where ones who had brought Evil Karma over their mortal lives goes over to this realm and are reincarnated with a form reflecting to that Karma they held. The more “sins” they did over their lives, the more hideous and brutal their appearance would be. Though it doesn’t mean they will become stronger.
The Heaven and Demon Realm were known as the Celestial Realms altogether by the Mortal Realm.
Using their subjects as chess pieces, Varanth and Michael controlled the events in the Mortal Realm to how they please. Of course, this was kept a secret between the two. They wouldn’t want their game entertaining game to end so soon. Verath would send out his demons to act out the “monsters” and wreak havoc around the world while Michael would send in angels to act the messengers of God to other races, telling them the dangers the demons bring with them.
These two masterminds continued playing their game for several millennia as they watched through the whole thing as if it was a movie. Politics and war were actually the most interesting. The many races warring with each other despite the fact a worse kind of trouble was coming for them all. The dragons however doesn’t seem to be influenced. It is most likely due to the fact that they are being with great power, but with the aspect of being no different than an ordinary animal but with a bit more intellect.
Soon after playing and watching this game, Verath suddenly felt oddly tired. He for some reason felt exhausted which he had never felt before in his time of existence. The word exhaustion doesn’t exist for him. It was a new feeling.
He told Michael he needs a little nap which he believed would do him some good. Many races did this when they are tired, so Varath that maybe it would work for him too.
Varath then went to his Demon Realm where many of his subjects reside in and immediately fell asleep in his palace.
--
That’s the only thing he did the whole time he’s alive and conscious, playing with “God” so that may as well be the last thing he most likely did before he slept. Finishing recalling this memory, he lets go of his consciousness as he felt drowsy.
--
Sleeping once again, time continues to pass by. He doesn’t know what or how much time has passed, but it doesn’t matter. He will continue to sleep until he felt he could wake. Time still went on without stop. Varath is still asleep. The endless void continues to inhabit his mind. Nothing could wake him in this state. He doesn’t really want to wake either.
That is until he felt something touching him, coming into contact with him. It felt small, but just that simple touch caused his eyes to open up ever so slowly. When his sharp crimson eyes were half opened up from waking him,and his vision getting a bit clearer, he sees several small human like shapes below him. These humans were wearing robes with different colors, some with sleeveless leather jackets, and some were even wearing full battle armor with a sword held between their two hands. They give off the impression of being prepared for a battle, but their arms and legs could be seen shaking drastically.
What are they doing here? How did they get into my Demon Realm? No humans are permitted to come here. Even if they did, they can’t survive the atmosphere within it.
As Varath thought this, the humans began casting some sort of spell and in response to that, they began flying up.
Varath was slightly astonished that these humans were flying.
Have the human's progress this much during my slumber? How did they create such a spell for their own usage. This is quite impressive considering they were a species that couldn’t fly. But that goes for many of the races. Excluding the elves who were already proficient in magic, the others aren’t.
He wanted to know what the mortals in this realm were able to discover during his time in slumber, which he doesn’t know how long he fell asleep for. Since he never really had to know these things as he was popped into existence with immense power and ability from the start, he never encountered much issues or problems.
Still feeling a bit drowsy, Varath suddenly felt something within his mouth. It made it so he involuntarily opened his mouth and made a “yawn”.
“ROOOOOOOOOAAAAAARRRR!!!”
But what came out was more of an angry roar if anything instead of a tired yawn. It held tremendous power within the sound waves coming from Varath’s mouth, causing the structures around him to shake uncontrollably while the humans flying were also affected by this.
One by one a human and another began to descend down from the air with a couple others following just behind them. It seems to him that the volume of the wave was to much for the mortals to handle.
He slowly moved his arm slightly and twist his wrist and caught them onto the palm of his hand as they fell onto it.
After doing so he decided to take a better look of his surroundings, Varath rotates his head around. What he notices is he didn’t particularly know where he actually is. He seems to be surrounded by brick walls formed into a cylinder shape around him while a staircase was connected to the wall as it goes up leading somewhere.
He then looks back downwards to the humans on his palm.
I doubt this is the Demon Realm I’m in right now. Proven that the humans are here. They simply couldn’t survive the toxic atmosphere in that realm. Does this mean I’m in the Mortal Realm. Although I say that, I’m sure I was in the Demon Realm when I slept off if I recalled correctly.
Did something transpire with me while in my state of slumber? Other than Michael, no one else could do anything that could affect me. Though I doubt that Michael could even do something like moving me out of my realm. He couldn’t even enter my Realm without my permission.
Not being able to come up with a conclusion, Varath decided to just contact Michael if he wants to continue their little game of theirs that they had stopped when he decided he take a nap. Putting his index and middle finger to the side of his head, he then used a message ability to call Michael (Think of it like a phone).
After he called Michael, he waited for some time after putting the humans onto the staircase.
30 seconds passed.
1 minute passed.
3 minutes passed.
5 minutes passed.
10 minutes passed
15 minutes passed.

Finally, he thought it was strange. Michael doesn’t take this long to answer his call.
Weird, he should have picked up by this time at the latest.
Canceling the message spell, he crossed his arms.
Well, I could always play that game anytime. Varath shrugs his giant shoulders.
Deciding there is no use thinking about it, he began conjuring a portal to go back to his Realm. Focusing the immense and boundless magic power within his soul and being, he spread and pumped that mana to his hand. Lifting up his hand, he then conjured a portal within his mind.
Mana is the very essence of power for every living being. All mana comes from within the Soul, meaning the amount of mana someone possesses is determined by birth. There are two simple ways in utilising mana. One is the most popular way. By bringing out the mana from within the soul, and out from the body, it could be formed into some magic like a lightning strike or waterball. In other words, a spellcaster. The other way to utilise it is strengthening the body with the mana inside them. A warrior. But they need physical training to increase their base physical ability to have any good results while a spellcaster must learn more about elements and magic overall. Both require some form of effort.
As a Demon God, Varath only needs to imagine what he wants while injecting mana to get what he wants.Whether it is a black hole or a tornado spell, it is easily attainable. However, if it comes to making and creating things, it is impossible. For example, just using mana couldn’t create clothes, metal, or buildings. What he can do is through the usage of magic, he could bring out such resource from an area, but creating things were completely out of his abilities.
Conjuring the portal, a purple magical circle appears under his feet as it glows with magic power. Bringing his consciousness into it, he then transfer to his home realm...which was suppose to happen….
Hmmm? It isn’t working? Why can’t I connect?
While inputting the mana continuously in his spell, nothing was appearing or happening. There wasn’t any change around him.
What’s going on?
He canceled his ability and then again, uses it again. Inputting tremendous amounts of mana once again into the spell, he imagined a portal connecting to the Demon Realm and a large magic circle appearing underneath him to take him there. However, it didn’t work.
Strange. This never once happened before.
Varath brought his hand to his chin. He tries to think of the reason. The only person who could possibly control the Demon Realm’s gate is only himself and no other. So there shouldn’t be a reason that he couldn’t open it. He thought of several scenarios that could explain his circumstances. Unfortunately, he couldn’t come up with one. Mostly due to the fact this is the first time that ever happened to him. There was only one theory that could explain in though.
Did I lose my powers to conjure magic?
He looks at his palm as he thought this. Figuring he should test that hypothesis, he willed his limitless mana to course through his body and then he used his unique power only available to himself.
Primordial Darkness
In his hand, a black aura appears as it twirls around his palm. The black darkness emitted a malevolent and vile aura that could drive any ordinary person to go insane from just being near it while fearing that blackness. Of course, even though this element gives of this emotion and feeling, Varanth is in no way malevolent or evil in particular. It is simply the trait of the element he uniquely has while not being affected by it.
Some of his subjects, demons, could be considered evil, but not all demons are like that. There are some benevolent ones who are actually decently kind and nice, but that is a bit rare since demons were mortal reincarnations of their Evil Karma thus the chances of that is low.
As the black darkness moves around his palm, he confirms that his powers were still in tact and have not been lost. Losing his powers to conjure magic in the Mortal Realm isn’t exactly a dire situation for him. After all he isn’t the Demon “God” without reason. Just using his immense physical prowess is enough to give all of the inhabitants a scare. Although he still have his physical strength and ability, magic is still extremely helpful as it can give more variety of uses such as manipulating objects up in the air, using it to shoot things off and crush them, blowing things up, and storing items in another dimension. Mostly storing stuff was very useful to Varath.
Looking at the darkness on his hand, Varath then relinquish it soon after since there wasn’t any particular use for it currently. He turns to the side and looked at the several humans on the staircase. Since he is in the mortal realm as of right now, he should minimize his current size especially when he is already more than 50 times taller than them. Again, using the mana from within him, he imagines himself transforming into human form. His greyish black body begins to be surrounded by darkness and his stature begins to grow smaller and smaller each second pass. It continues to do so until Varath is around 6 feet tall. After that, the darkness vanishes, leaving a handsome, naked, white-haired young man, sharp crimson eyes, with a lean body with fairly good amount of muscles. He then reached his hand into space and it disappears going through a dimension. His hand then withdrew from the dimension, holding a long black robe large enough to cover his whole body, and some undergarments to wear underneath the robe.
This should suffice. He thought as he wears it.
Varath then looks up. With his sharp senses and sight, he could see a small speck of light coming out of this place. He then crouches down onto one knee, and starts to build up power within his calves. After reaching to a specific amount, he then jumps.
The power within the jump was tremendous. Just from that single jump, the part of the ground he used to jump off cracked and broke into pieces. With that instant velocity, he ascended quite high from this place and Varanth made a slight miscalculation. The amount of power he used was a bit more than he thought he used. Instead of getting to the entrance of the place, he went over to the ceiling and smashes his way out of it. The ceiling broke apart from the impact as he went through.
Soon enough, he finds himself still flying in the sky.
Hmmm...I was never good at controlling my powers. Well, whatever.
Thinking of that, he then simply waited for him to start coming back down. While he is at that, he looks at the sky. A full-moon is present while hundreds of stars shine brightly in that sky. The air is refreshing and cool. There aren’t any visible clouds this time around, letting Varath gaze at the sky. Before long, he can feel himself falling. He looks away from the sky and sees the ground a couple hundred meters from the air. He allows himself to free fall down quickly towards to ground. Coming closer and closer. Soon enough, the ground was now only a couple of meters away from the ground. Varanth then controls the wind element and lightens his fall continuously until he reached the ground and tapped it with a foot smoothly.
Just like previously explained, Varath don’t just use his unique ability, but he could control a variety of other magic. Just using which one would be more convenient or more fun to use. Varath turns around from where he had jump out from. Even though he jumped pretty high, it is not like he got far because of that. Looking behind him, he sees a building that looks similar to a tomb. He suspected that he may have been underground considering the fact the staircase was leading upwards. In most cases, that would lead to the fact the room or place he was in was at least deep underground. Thinking about that, he remembers the humans he left on the staircase.
Well, they should be fine. I don’t think the broken ceiling rumble would fall on them when I broke through it. Maybe I should give them some sort of compensation for waking me up?...Maybe when I see them next time.
Turning away from the tomb building, he then looks into the horizon thinking where he should go when he couldn’t contact his old friend nor go back to his home.
...What should I do?
