Ch. 29 - Lax Watch

— POV Gods —

Sin – “I told you guys! Everything is going along just fine! Of course, there was a setback after the dream, but it did it’s job to get us here, to this moment!”

Karma – “You’re right brother, since we got here to this moment, nothing else really matters. But you still did a lacking job – Fate, Grimm, and I each did our parts perfectly. You’ve definitely lost this round!”

Fate – “Yea Grimm, it was really hard for us, and it seems like you didn’t pull your weight, hmmmph!”

Grimm – “Than you brother and sisters for helping me out. I don’t care who did what, after this, we should be able to go back to being carefree again!”

Karma – Awww, Grimm is just like a puppy, trying to please everyone. But he’s taking away my fun of besting Sin! Grrrrrrr.

Sin – “Thanks Grimm, I knew you wouldn’t get caught up on useless details!”

Karma – “Whatever, and stop gloating about the plan, you and I both came up with it. We had Grimm and I choose two impressionable souls to send to those monsters, to try and keep him tied down and wasting energy on them, that part was an incredible success! Fate just had to tweak that girl’s fate to avoid her certain death from a monster that was originally going to kill her. Stupid girl, she can’t use mana and she can’t feel the mana auras around beasts either. Her latent talent is zero, and she had low Karmic value from her previous life, as she was also weak there. And I guess, Sin, you did do your job with the dream, to temporarily stop him from mobilizing. All of this was to come to this moment, the moment in which he will fall.”

Sin – “That’s right. Now that the girl and Mr. Grass-man are in contact, the ending is inevitable. Even with the fuzziness in his Fate.”

Fate – “I told you guys, there’s nothing I can do about that! Once someone has touched a small part of divinity, they slowly release themselves from the shackles of fate. I can’t see any of our fates, and ever since he created those 3 new bug species and evolved into an unseen species, he has been slowly obscuring his fate from my eyes. But I can see this far at least – when he fails her healing – most of our problems will be solved! At least, that’s what you and Karma said after I told you what I could see.”

Karma – “Yep, that’s right. After he fails healing her, he suddenly realized that he doesn’t actually feel remorse for not being able to save her, and the rage he would normally feel would also be extremely muted. He should then realize that something’s wrong with him, that he’s changing, and he would investigate. Eventually he’ll find out that his soul is really fucked up, and start to try to fix it. Once he starts, he won;t be able to defend in time from the approaching danger, and he’ll die. Win-win for us. Even if he survives the danger, he’ll be cooped up for thousands of years trying to fix his soul, but without help it will take ages and ages, leaving us a lot of leeway with dealing with him.”

Sin – “Time is our eternal ally – things they can’t do in a lifetime, we can do in a blink of an eye. Our plans can span eons, while they can only think in days. This is our true strength as gods – we shape the world through our machinations. Of course, Mother and Father are able to do whatever they want, but that’s besides the point.”

Grimm – “So.. That child is gonna die? It doesn’t seem like she’s dying?”

Fate – “What do you mean? After the mana and nature energy enter her body, without a proper image and enough knowledge, her body explodes from the conflicting energy that has nowhere to go.”

Grimm – “Ummm… Look.” Uh-oh

Sin, Karma, Fate, Grimm – …………… “What is happening!?”

Karma – “Is this… No, this shouldn’t be possible… That…”

Sin – “This… Should not be possible…”

Grimm – “It looks like she’s being healed?”

Fate – “Even if it was fuzzy… she should… have… exploded already? What’s going on?”

Sin & Karma – “Genesis…”

Karma – “Sin… Brother… I’m not dreaming am I?”

Sin – “Am I dreaming sis? You should have seen this one more time than I have, you are older.”

Fate – “What are you guys looking at? I’m losing my ability to look at his future – it’s turning gray!”

Grimm – “Genesis?”

Karma – “I think that confirms it. He’s… created new life, a species built from the ground up, something only us Gods should be able to do. Look inside of the cocoon. The elements are merging together under the guidance of natural energy – raw primordial energy is the result. Everything is in balance.”

Sin – “But how? He’s not supposed to be able to do that! We saw – we saw her explode! What the fuck is going on!?”

Karma – “That magic circle… Those symbols… A protective womb… It’s just like when you were born, complete Genesis.”

Sin – “If that’s true… Then… We have no choice. We need to go get Mother. She will not be happy that this happened. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK!”

Fate – “What do you mean? Certainly this part went wrong, but he should still die soon, right? And we can watch the fate of those around him to get a clear picture, right? There’s no need to call Mother just yet, right?”

Grimm – “Yea, he can still die, right?”

Sin – “Shut the FUCK UP you two – damnit! Remember how we’ve played pranks on each other before? If someone outside of Fate’s purview alters something, then everything that’s been divined after that action that affects the mortals is worthless.”

Fate – “… It was you, wasn’t it? It was you that caused my favorite dragon to be captured, wasn’t it! She was supposed to go on for centuries giving me entertainment by slaughtering the weaker races! It took me so long to help her escape!”

Sin – “Wait, she escaped. Shit. That’s besides the point though, we don’t have time for that.”

Karma – “Sniff. I don’t want to tell Mother… But if we don’t, then we’ll be in even more trouble. He’s touched the powers of the divine. We alone can’t stop him, under Mother’s orders. If this happened, we have to go tell her.”

Sin – “Not only that… it’s in our duties to prevent the destruction of a whole race. That girl is a new race. If that girl stays there, we’ll be forced to protect her AND him if we can… FUUUUCK!”

Grimm – “Ummmm… Hey.”

Sin, Karma, Fate – “What!?”

Grimm – “Something else is happening. What is that?”

Fate – “I’ve never seen that before. I mean, I’ve seen those black flames before, that’s nothing but magic. But…”

Sin – “I’ve never seen that violet, cloying energy before though.”

Karma – “There’s always a cost…”

Sin – “What do you mean Karma?”

Karma – “It’s from before you were born. When Mother and Father were running around creating everything, they taught me the ropes while they were at it. Whenever mom would create something, something else would be born as well. It wasn’t instantaneous, but it was inevitable. That’s why Father would always follow Mother around, so that he could remove these remnants from the worlds that she created. I don’t know what Father did with them, but he never missed even one iota of the remnants. This is bad, this is why Mother and Father put us in charge of watching the various worlds they created, to prevent this.”

Sin – “It can’t be that bad, can it? I mean, look, it was only there for a moment!”

Karma – “It doesn’t matter. This is just the prelude to something far worse. Right now it’s formless, and gone, but it has already been born. Now if something can give it shape, a mind, then unspeakable horror will reign. Father showed me once, when Mother was busy, what would happen if he let one of those remnants gain form. He forbade me from interfering, and only let me watch. MADE me watch. It only took a few millennium – the world turned into a desert planet, with only these things running around. It was one of Mother’s worlds, one that she hand-crafted for it’s beautiful, but delicate balance of nature. It was peaceful before this remnant energy was released and corrupted the beings on the planet. This energy does not balance in a traditional sense – it tries to balance the potential of the creation that spawned it. It goes against nature. If a species is created that has the potential to colonize a planet, even if they don’t, the remnant energy will corrupt beings and give them the ability to devastate planets. After Mother saw what happened to her planet, she wept for millions of years she made Father promise not to do that again. Seeing Mother’s state, Father obliterated the planet, one second it was there, and another is was plucked out of the Heavens and made to disappear. This is really serious – Mother will be furious at us if another planet is forced to be destroyed. And Father…”

Fate – “We should have called Mother when he managed to guide evolution with his bugs! When his fate first got fuzzy! I trusted you guys! This is really bad!”

Grimm – “Yea! You two need to go tell Mother while we stay here and make sure nothing else happens! You two hoodwinked us, making us think you knew what you were doing! We can’t deal with this, we didn’t know!”

Karma – “Of course none of you knew, only I knew, but we couldn’t see if this would happen or not… But Sin, before we go see Mother, I think these two need to be reeducated first. They’ve totally lost their cuteness factor – they actually are daring to try to bite our helping hands.”

Sin – “Sigh, familial love sure turns thin when trouble is brewing. And their promises from before also seem to have been forgotten. It does, indeed, look like  we’ll need to reeducate our younger siblings. I can cheat and borrow a small bit of power to form a time dilation that will allow them, hmmm, let’s say 100,000 years of reeducation from the two of us? That seem fair?”

Karma – “Yea, they’ve really pissed me off this time. Your power to cheat sure comes in handy sometimes, we’re going to have so much fun!! I’m gonna need these good spirits before going to Mother anyways…”

— POV Liza —

I miss my small room at the castle. At least there I didn’t have to be a guard, cart driver, cook, and maid for a super powerful lecherous magician and a super prim and proper Princess that puts my looks to shame. Mr. King, I can’t convince them to turn back like you asked. They act like I can make decisions, but really my choices don’t matter. They just want me to take care of dealing with other guards and the like. I can’t even decide which towns we visit, or the roads we take. I try to keep up with sending reports to the King about our destinations and whereabouts, but for some reason when we leave a town the birds die or disappear. I’m beginning to think this whole expedition is cursed.

I thought that was bad, but things are even worse at night. I thought we would be able to share a tent at night, since we’re all girls. I won’t forget that night that I almost lost my chastity. We were all getting dressed for the night, when Rose came up behind me and started to give me a massage, since, in her words, I worked so hard that day. I couldn’t say no, even though she’s so much higher stationed than me. It really felt good, but for some reason, a reason I would learn later, Princess Cirili was eyeing me with pity. After the massage, Rose told Cirili to get in the same blanket as part of their deal. They took all of the blankets, and Rose said that we’d share, since there wasn’t enough blankets for all of us to stay warm without sharing some body heat. Of course I went with it, I didn’t think anything of it. The nights are slowly getting colder, so it’d be cold if we didn’t share the blankets together. Then Rose started to get closer, and closer, and hugged me, “for warmth”. As I was dozing off, she started to… do things that made me feel good, and in my sleep muddled state I just let it happen. Thankfully the Princess had to go to the bathroom, and let in a breeze of cold air, quickly snapping me awake and I realized my current situation. I quickly jumped up and ran outside to cool down, it was a very cold night that night.

At the next town I bought a big blanket just for myself, so only on the coldest nights will I go inside the tent. The constant complaints and moans I hear from the Princess and Rose reminds me every night. It never seems to go beyond a point, but I’m afraid of where it might lead to. It already gets crazy when I go in, and I feel good, but I’m straight! I like men who can at least spar with me at an even level. With delicate hands and soft skin… No! They’ve got me all confused now! I can’t give up! I need to resist!

I gotta remain firm! My innocence is at stake! I need to release my frustrations somewhere though!

“Attack!”

Ah, bandits! Perfect! Usually I can take care of them with a bow, but I think it’s time to beat some people up!

“Oh, bandits? Rose, Liza, I’ll be taking care of this. I need to get rid of some stress!”

But, but… I wanted to! No fair! “Of course Princess, at once. I will cover you with my bow and arrows.” Well at least I can shoot some of them! Just have to pull back, visualize the target…

“FWOOOOSH! ROAR! CACKLE! BANG! SIZZLE!”

I miss being a guard at the castle… I’m just a glorified maid here… Sniff…

— POV Princess Cirili —

I’m so bored again! This was supposed to be a grand adventure, where I get to fight grand monsters, execute some bad guys for breaking the crown’s laws, and being worshiped by the people while I learn god grade magic! But so far all I’ve managed to do is to be a hug pillow each night where my sexual tension is raised but left unsatisfied. Of course if I wanted to Rose would take care of it for me, she is the one that’s causing it, but it’s a slippery slope with her. Give her an inch, she’ll take a mile. After that, she’ll ask for another inch, and act as if that mile was originally hers anyways. My tension is building every day, especially since I haven’t learned how to use that black fire magic that Rose has been teaching me.

“Attack!”

Perfect! Some trash to vent my anger upon! Some ugly bandits are trying to attack us, fucking dregs of society. Looks like I can release some of my tension and help Father out by ridding our Kingdom of human waste plaguing our borders.

“Oh, bandits? Rose, Liza, I’ll be taking care of this. I need to get rid of some stress!”

Let’s see… There’s 7 of them, a couple with bows… Looks like I should multicast the Blue-Flame Dragon with some Lightning Pillars of Heaven to take care of the archers in the back… Ah yes, this is the rush that I love! MY magic power is flowing, filling the spell imprints I put in the air, ah, let my wrath fall upon the unworthy! Erase their existence!

— POV Rose —

Ah, this adventure was a perfect stress reliever! I get to play around with a soft, crystalline beauty that just so happens to be my apprentice, and when it’s “cold” enough, a firm, athletic beauty who’s so cute when she tries to resist my advances. I can feel though that my two little birds are accumulating too much tension, even though I’ve been enjoying myself fully. Hmmm… my radar is detecting some presences in the woods, but it doesn’t seem like they will notice us, our carriage is too plain. But if I use a little bit of magic, and make some gold flashes shine out… Ahahaha, perfect! They’ve taken the bait!

Hmmm… They’re yelling really loudly, and it seems like Cirili will take all of the fun from Liza. I guess there’s no helping it, I’ll have to buy Liza something in the next town, or praise her cooking or something. Whatever, it’ll work out. We’re almost to my pet dragon’s lair anyways, so maybe she can play with my cute Sheal and recover her stamina.

— POV King —

My headaches are getting worse each day. It seems Rose does not want to be monitored, so the most I can do for them is send Liza money and words of encouragement to keep trying to relay me as much information as possible.

“Sire, sire! Grave news!”

“What happened!? Did something happen to my daughter!?” I should never have let them go!

“No, I mean, I don’t know! This is definitely related, but we don’t know much. We just received a report of a violet dragon flying above the remote stretches of our kingdom!”

What, no! Nonoonoonono! “Did you say… a violet dragon?”

“Yes sire, we don’t have any records of a violet dragon in the area for as far back as our scrolls go. It could be peaceful, or just passing through. I’ve already sent out warnings to the small towns that don’t have defenses, but I haven’t heard anything about the Princess Sire.”

Shit shit shit! From the last time I heard from them, they were still several weeks away from that area… So they are still probably safe. I have watchers posted in every border town that will send me word immediately when they spot Rose’s carriage. I need as much information as possible, but it needs to be accurate…

“Send word to the villages. A Gold coin is to be given to credible reports for the whereabouts of this dragon. No one is to approach or fight it, whatever they do. AS for the first person to report it, give him 10 Gold coins. Safety is paramount, and without the eyes and ears of our citizens, we are blind.”

“Another wise, yet generous decision from our King. I will immediately send out the word!”

I need to know where that dragon is so that if it’s coming this way, I can hide in the bunker! Gold is meaningless if I die!
