Chapter 001: A White Room

Chapter 001: A White Room

PAIN.

A terrible headache runs through my head. I barely stifle a cry of pain in consideration for the people who are probably around me. I try to bring my hands up to my head when I realize my body is far too sore and numb to even move. Unable to think I silently endure the headache in its entirety for what seems like years. Before the headache and for some reason my numbness finally leaves me.

I  open my eyes and is instantly blinded by the sudden light that assaults them.  I squint and look around at my surroundings and decide that this must be a mental asylum, or laboratory of some sort, as all sides of the room are white, even the hard floor I am laying on.  They must have rushed me here after I was hit by that truck, but for some reason, there is no trace of machinery or medical devices in sight. Even though I feel fine and dandy now they must have put me in this room for a reason so I would rather not take any chances and move around a lot. Laying on the ground I let my thoughts wander to my brother Jacob. Did he go to school? Eat a healthy breakfast? Brush his teeth? Every second feels like an hour as I grow more and more nervous.

Unable to take the silence I manage to squeak out, "E-Excuse me, i-is anyone there?"  almost immediately after I spoke the floor starts shaking and rumbling unexpectedly. I cried out in shock as my body was tossed around like a wet noodle before I decided I would rather stand up and steady myself then lay down and take this humiliation. Prepared for some pain  I stood up gingerly amidst the shaking, but to my surprise, I don't feel anything, not even a bit of residue soreness. In fact, I seem to be in the best condition I have ever been in. Did the people who treated me here have some type of advanced medicine, or was the car crash not that serious in the first place? But if that was the case what was that headache that I had? Just as I start to truly question my surroundings. The shaking stops just as abruptly as it began and I am thrown to the floor again. The wind is knocked out of me and I start groaning in pain as I roll around on the ground clenching my stomach. Panting heavily I try to stand back up when I am greeted by a sight that nearly gives me a heart attack.

A small black ball with a metallic gleam floats in front of me looking like some futuristic robot.  a bright red orb that sits in the center of the sphere and looks suspiciously like an eye swivels and meets my gaze. Scared by this movement I backpedal and fall right back down on my butt forgetting about my previous pains.

A low mechanical voice comes from the sphere [Hello Sarah Knocker]. The voice echoed through the room and I grow even more surprised and nervous before I quickly collect my thoughts and question the device, "wha- what are you? where is this?" I then gather all my courage and say, " I really need to go home..um. Ca-can I please leave?" The device answers back in its cold and emotionless voice [Please ask all questions at end of the briefing].

After saying that my mouth is suddenly clamped shut and I am unable to make a single sound. Grabbing my mouth and trying to open it to no avail I start to truly panic. What did they do to me after that car crash? Will I ever be able to speak again? Obviously not caring about my fright the sphere continues on [I am Afterlife administrator bot P-0167235.
