The Day I Thought We Died

A beautiful lady sat on the edge of a cliff, dangling her legs with the breeze.

Four gentlemen arrived; two had raced, and they came first.

Their presence outnumbered her and made her stand up.

She moved her head and faced all her upfront to them.

The men saw her and noticed all that was with her.

Her hair reflected the clear sky;

Her shoulders radiated the sunlight;

Her dress down to her legs became one with the deeps of waters and the gardens of lands.

And so, they mesmerized.

Hurriedly, he spoke, and it got the other to glance at him.

“My lady,” and the lady had all her eyes on him, and he introduced, “My name is Class. I come from the Goldilocks Zone. Choose me, and you will be a happy woman in our happy life. We will have healthy children who will look like you and me or both of us in one.”

And it was true, he was a handsome man, and he ended with a smile, “You’d be a great wife for a family.”

The other man exhaled deeply with his nose and faced the lady, for it was his turn.

He introduced, “Ah, the beautiful lady on the cliff. My name is Family, and I have come for your hand in marriage. Have your will upon me as your husband, and I shall care of you. I can reach everywhere in this world, and you will touch it, too. You will live beyond this world, and it will ensue if you become my wife.”

Before she reacted, the third gentleman arrived and warmly smiled at her.

She kneeled and picked a beautiful flower with a weed beside it.

She raised the flower and the weed closer to them and did it in front of her face.

“What do you think of this?” she softly spoke.

Family answered immediately, “The flower reflects you, my lady,” and had all her eyes by himself.

He continued, “It’s beautiful, just like you. The petals stayed true to your hair, the seeds took form like your eyes, and the weed, I am the weed. Together, as one. And it could be real. If you choose me, you will have what you have in your fingers. And when you plant them, they will grow like this garden around us, like our life.”

His speech made Class deeply exhale quietly through his mouth.

The third gentleman smiled throughout, and the fourth one just arrived.

Class took his turn, “My lady that fl-” and stopped his words.

The third gentleman walked up to her.

He kneeled in front and gently pulled the bottom of the cut flower, lowering her hand and arm.

Closer, they had their eyes looked at either their right or left eyes repeatedly.

Then she smiled and said, “I found the answer.”

“She stood up and pu-” and coughs interrupted her by a girl.

A family of five resided in a dark, wooden cabin in the evening forest.

They rested on a comfy bed with a fur blanket below their feet.

The father was asleep with the son hugging each other.

But the coughs woke the father.

With a lit candle, he opened his eyes to his daughter.

He took a towel between her and his son and wiped her back.

And he went back to sleep.

The daughter took a high-pitched intake of breath and said adorably, “I’m sorry. Please continue, mother.”

The mother moved away from her daughter and wiped her forehead with her sleeve.

She continued, “I stood up and pulled your father from his knees. Then, I thought, “We’re going to get pushed towards our death by one of these men.” So, we left immediately, leaving them behind. Then I thought, “They’re going to kill us behind our backs.” So-"

“Okay, mother,” the daughter had her eyes wide open and said, “I think I’m sleepy to sleep the night now.”

The mother kissed her eye, closing it to sleep, and she whispered, “Good night, my dear daughter.”
