Thomas lied on his old chair. He huffed thinking about what could be his next story. His boss said to get a solid story by midnight, but it's already 10:00 and he didn't even type a single sentence. He thought of asking his boss another day to make the story, but he knew that his boss wouldn't give him extra time.

Always busy. Don't even have time to relax.

Thomas sat there just thinking and thinking. Eventually he got this idea, an old farmer whose life was boring finds that he is a reincarnation of a 1950's star. Thomas thought this story was simply interesting to read. But he wasn't sure if his boss would like Thomas's story. Thomas closed down his laptop, and went to bed. He felt like a warm black screen was hugging him and he closed his eyes. Darkness took over.

The next day, it was a bit cloudy, but it was fine. Thomas presented his story to his boss. “Hmm, let me think about it, I need to see those other ideas as well, we’ll call you if you get selected.” “Ok thanks,” said Thomas nervously. He wasn’t sure if he got selected or not, but the tone of his boss's voice didn’t sound so good. The white and lonely clouds took over the remaining sunlight. It started to drizzle.

Thunder came here and there. The rain slowly started to pick up. Why doesn’t my boss like my story? It's literally the best one so far. They’re out there presenting stories like good guy vs bad guy, and they’re getting selected. How many more years of this?

Once Thomas got home, he had received a phone call that said, “Your story is fantastic. We would very much like to do business with you. Send me the first 5 chapters by midnight.” Thomas was relieved, he finally got his appreciation that he deserved. But, there was one problem, he didn’t even have one chapter finished. He immediately opened up his old laptop and started typing. After a while, Thomas typed 2 long chapters. He was typing so fast that his hands started to hurt. Even when his hands were hurting, he didn’t stop.

This is a very rare opportunity. I can’t let this go. Thomas continued typing for the rest of that night. Outside was a very dark and stormy night. Suddenly, there was a mysterious knock on the door. Who would knock at this hour? Thomas slowly opened the door to find an envelope on his doorstep. Thomas took the envelope and closed his door. He opened the mysterious envelope to find a letter written inside. He took out the letter and it said, “You’re still alive?! You are a hero that finds many ways to survive. I’m not talking to you directly because of the Vens. Our town is waiting for you to come. Mother is waiting for you. We need you brother. Sincerely, your loving brother, Greg.” Thomas was bewildered by this letter. What does he mean? I have a brother? Who are the Vens? I’m a- hero?” Thomas thought this was some sort of weird prank, so he didn’t mind it that much.

That was until he received another letter the next day. “Jake, come. Our whole family is requesting you. I don’t know if you’re not responding on purpose or you forgot about us, it's just that, things have been hard here these days, mysterious murders have been happening around town, we’re scared that we’re next. Our family has been mourning your loss. You were a great hero. But you are still alive! Please listen and come back. Sincerely, your loving brother, Greg.” Someone knows I’m here. I don’t know if this is true or not, but I need to find out what is the truth and what is not.

The next day, Thomas started researching about the Vens. Suddenly, Thomas got a phone call from his boss. “You’re fired! You can’t do anything properly! I gave you one job and you can’t even do that. You’re screwed cause you lost this job.”  His boss hung up. Thomas was in a state of shock. His face went from curiosity to a broken, lifeless face. He remembered, he didn’t submit the first 5 chapters by midnight. No, no, no. This can’t be happening! Thomas got into his old and rusty car and started to drive to his office. In front of him was a huge 3 hour long traffic jam. Oh my god. I need to go now! However, the traffic was not cooperating. Thomas took out his phone and looked at the news. This is what it said: “15 people died in a very fatal crash. Reports have shown that all of them are in a group called the Vens. Was this crash an accident or is there an assassin out there?” The Vens. They’re real. Those letters were not a prank. This is real.

Back at Thomas’s house, an anonymous person came up and opened his mailbox, took out a letter and carefully walked away. Thomas’s doorbell recorded the whole thing and sent it to Thomas. Thomas received a notification. He opened it and saw the recording. Oh no! Thomas wanted to go back, but there were no u-turns at all. It’s the Vens. Thomas was hopeless. He couldn’t do anything except to go with the traffic. The anonymous person went to his house and disappeared. Who knew what would happen next? Suddenly, gunshots fired in the silence. Drivers started panicking and crashed into other cars. In seconds, it was total chaos. A man in a mask looked at Thomas in the middle of the road. He had a gun with him. Oh shit! yelled Thomas. He put his car into reverse and started to go back. Unfortunately, his car was out of fuel. “Oh god.” he told himself hopelessly. The masked man shot his gun. Bullets ripped through Thomas’s windshield. Thomas tucked down in instinct. That was a near miss. The masked man kept firing bullets until Thomas’s car caught on fire. “Haha, you can’t escape now!” Thomas thought this was the end. Suddenly,  another masked man came and shot that man. “Jake come on, go! I’m your brother! You wouldn’t be hiding like this, but it’s ok. Just come on!”

Thomas realized that this might be Jake's brother. Thomas got out of the burning car and after a few steps away from it, the car exploded into pieces. The fire from Thomas’s car caught on to the cars right next to his. This set off a chain reaction. Thomas knew that he would die if he was this close. So did Jake’s brother. Thomas ran for his life while 15 cars exploded at the same time behind him. It’s a catastrophe. Thomas and Jack got away from the road and tucked down the hill. They watched as the masked people were harming others. They were hopeless. Suddenly, a person came behind them and knocked them out using a bat. Thomas woke up in a gray room. There was blood on the lifeless walls. Thomas searched for Jack but he couldn’t find him. Where was he?

There were no doors in the room. There was only a large sheet of bulletproof glass that Thomas tried punching. It didn’t work. He saw some more people with masks from the window. They laughed. Hard. “You can’t escape from here!” “Let me out! Now! What did I ever do?!” “You did everything. You are Jake right?” said the masked man. “I’m not Jake!!! Why does everyone say this?!” “You look just like him! How can you not be him?” Thomas pulled out his ID. Name: Thomas Williamson. “You’re… not him.” “Exactly!” “Then who is he?”
