Chapter 1-Reincarnation Gone Wrong

Chapter 1-Reincarnation Gone Wrong

The relentless battle between humans and demons, spanning countless generations, continues unabated. As the centuries pass, the struggle for dominance remains unyielding, each species refusing to cede an inch of ground.

The indomitable spirit of humans has been the sole barrier preventing the demons from triumphing sooner. They have already seized a staggering 75 percent of Assiorah. Yet, every force has its limits, and humans' resolve is waning. They are in dire need of assistance, and time is running out. They are left with one desperate measure.

A spell known only as the Reincarnation Spell.

In the open air of the night sky, the exotic stars show their presence in pure majesty; six people stand in a large greenery area, the vast circular space the size of a football field. Through the darkness of the night, a golden-colored magic circle illuminates as brightly as a lantern.

Four of the six men are wearing white hooded robes, their shadow obscuring their faces. The other two men are donning full body armor. The shorter, older-looking man's armor is made of silver, and he is wearing a golden crown atop his head, full of wavy dark grey hair, and a sword in his hand. In contrast, the much taller and younger man has white armor and a full-face helm with gold trim. The helm has the face of a beast with two horns pointing towards the sky. His white scabbard is positioned horizontally on his lower back. All six men’s attire gleamed in the night as they prepared for the Reincarnation Spell.

"Is this far enough, my lord?" the taller man asked.

"Yes. Good work, Elas. We don't know if this Reincarnation Spell will even work, and if something goes wrong, at least no one else will be caught in it."

Elas sighs. He wants to protest the dangerous situation for his king but refuses. They had already argued on the matter before Elas finally gave in and brought his king with him. King Reth and he were disputing whether he should join in on this possibly deadly mission. There are S rank Adventurers in Dugria. With the current demon invasion, they would have protected the king in his castle. But no, Lord Reth wanted to come with him. If this Reincarnation Spell goes wrong and Reth dies...

No.

Elas won't let that happen; he's also an S-rank Adventurer. Not only is he powerful and has decades of fighting experience, but his magical prowess is no joke either. For example, his fire magic at full power can engulf an entire city in flames. And that’s not even his strongest element. Whatever happens, he'll be prepared for it.

"Alright." Elas starts, looking at one of the hooded mages. "So, how many are we expected to get?"

The mage looks up at him, but the darkness still obscures his face despite the moonlight illuminating in his direction. "We are confident in our abilities, oh great knight. With our power, I'd say five reincarnated heroes."

"Five, huh." Reth strokes his thick grey beard. "If they are as strong as that scroll hyped them up to be, then five will just be overkill..." the old man then grows a sinister side grin." and overkill is what we need. Proceed."

If you stumble upon this tale on Amazon, it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.

"Yes, my lord." All four mages say in unison before extending their hands toward the golden color magic circle 5 meters in front of them. Then, they quickly began to all speak in an unknown language in such unity it almost sounded as if only one of them was speaking. As they continued their incantation, the magic circle started to glow brighter and brighter.

"IT'S WORKING!!!" Reth punches the air.

The light from the magic circle has gotten so bright that the details of the sigil are now hidden from the eminence brightness as the light quickly covers the enclosed area with warm golden light. But as soon as it had gotten to its brightest, the light returned to its origin as if the most powerful vacuum had sucked it in. It even made a swoop-like sound.

Everything was back to the way it was before the mages began chanting.

"Uh..." Elas says, turning his attention to the mage to his left. " Did it fail?"

"Wait!" A mage screams." It's turning black! Why is it turning black?!"

Elas whipped his head to the magic circle. Sadly, it's just as the mage said. Instead of being the golden hue it had been, now the sigil is dark black in color with violet outlines." I guess that wasn't supposed to hap-"

His speech was cut short when he felt an ominous feeling coming from it now as dark smoke seeping out the center.

Something is coming... He thought. And something powerful and evil. Oh NO!!

"My Lord!!"

KABOOM!!!!!

It was all he could say before; in a millisecond, he was forced to create a white magical shield that enveloped everyone to save them from the massive explosion that came from the now black sigil. The discharge was so powerful that it had reached a 50-mile radius, destroying everything in its wake, completely disintegrating trees and the grass below. The wind pressure was twice as potent as an atomic bomb, but Elas had no problem resisting its force.

"What the hell happened?!" Reth screams to try to be heard over the loud, roaring combustion. "What went wrong?!"

"I-I don't. Someone put dark magic in the spell at the last moment. It was a success. There were going to be five people about to be reincarnated to our world, but someone manipulated it and forced evil mana into the enchantment, redirecting the spell elsewhere."

"Who did it?!"

"And if it's been redirected to another place..." Elas said, staring in the direction of the black sigil." Who is about to be summoned?"

As if to answer Elas' question, the explosion quickly ends, and once the black smoke settles, lying on her back, replacing the magic circle is the most beautiful woman Elas has ever seen. With the help of the light coming from his magic shield, he can clearly see who is resting in front of them. Her beauty would even make elves self-conscious. But despite her having long, pointy ears like an elf's, he knows she is not of that species.

She has flawless light grey skin and long, deep black hair. Her slim, athletic, curvy physique is covered by a simple yet elegant long black dress with an open front shaped like a V, revealing she's not wearing a bra, with a bit of her boobs peeking out and her toned belly. Around her neck is a necklace with a black spiked ball emblem. Black heels with a golden anklet on her left ankle are on her feet.

Like her dress, Elas feels a calm, elegant aura coming from her. She holds such grace even while sleeping. However, though he is captivated by her, he's on guard because her magical energy is so vital that he can confidently say she's more powerful than him. And by a lot. She may be very beautiful and alluring like a magnet, but he can't ignore the same ominous dread that had crept back into him again like before the explosion. But the feeling has only intensified. It's as if a mountain is being pushed down onto him, and at any moment, it’ll flatten him like a pancake.

It's because of her. She's that ominous feeling. The difference in power. His instincts are in a conflicting battle to stay and remain in awe of her or getting the hell out of there before she wakes up. That's just it.

He doesn't want her to wake up. Because if he, unfortunately, must fight her, it will end with his death.
