"She fainted." Jahir commented as he noticed her unconscious form.
"Maybe your face scared her." Kel replied with a grin.
".... you're lucky you are useful in combat." Jahir glared at him and his red eyes glinted.
"We should get going before the Iron Fangs show up." The blonde haired woman ignored the two and started to walk away.
After about, thirty minutes, they reached an abandoned factory. They passed through a magical barrier that was a few feet away from the factory. The boss knocked on the double metal doors."Open up!"
The large metal double doors creaked open and once they were all inside, the door closed back shut.
"What on earth did you bring? She stinks and looks like a half dead rat." A man with long green eyes and blue eyes asked.
"Found her inside an egg or something like that," Kel replied and shrugged.
"And you all decided to bring her here? Are you that desperate for more members?" The man shook his head and looked away.
"Well I couldn't leave the poor thing on the ground when she is clearly alive." The boss replied and laid her body down on the couch.
Acacia's face scrunched up and she panted heavily. "Get off! Get off!!" Her eyes snapped wide open and she immediately sat up on the couch.
"Wow...bad dream?" Kel asked with an amused smile.
"Yeah...wait, who are you?" Acacia nodded before she snapped her head towards him, her eyes flickering over the unfamiliar faces.
"We are the Apex Conquerors!! The best kins in this cursed land! And my name is Edwin, never forget that." Edwin whipped out his hand fan and fanned himself as he spoke with pride.
".... okay?" Acacia blinked a few times in confusion and took in his features.
"Don't mind him, my name is Kel!" He gestured to himself.
Acacia noticed the scars on his face and they seemed to be burn marks.
'What happened to his face?'
Acacia thought to herself as another person came into her view.
"I'm Zephyra, the leader. The scowling lady over there is Bella," She gestured towards a girl with a stern expression on her face. Her purple eyes seemed to pierce through her soul.
'Stop looking at me like that, I don't even know you.' Acacia thought as averted her gaze from the girl and shifted on the couch.
"The big guy is Maximus," She pointed to a really big and muscular guy with two horns on the opposite side of his head. He has black hair in a buzz cut with blue eyes. He seemed to be the only one that was taller and bigger in the room.
"That is Elric, quiet guy." She grabbed him by his shoulders in which he grimaced at the contact but said nothing. Elric has short grey hair with brown eyes.
"And finally our cute doctor, Jahir!" She introduced the last person who waved awkwardly. He has eight spider legs clinging to his shirt in a folded manner. "So what's your name, little lady?"
"My name? What's my name....?" Acacia looked down at her lap and her head started to throb. She felt a bit dizzy and held her head in her hands.
"Come on!"
"Goodness, Mirkil heal her quickly."
"Weaklings!"
"I will make all your pain go away."
Acacia groaned as different memories flashed in her head and she slowly removed her hands from her head while her left index finger twitched.
"Acacia, my name is Acacia." She panted and said her name while rubbing her temples.
"Hey, don't stress yourself too much maybe your memories are all fizzled up because you were in that egg." Zephyra patted her back to calm her down.
'Egg? Why was I in an egg?' She thought to her with a confused expression on her face
"How about a nice, warm bath? Might clear up your head and then some delicious dinner?" Zephyra asked with a smile and her sharp canines peeked out.
'I do need a bath, I smell horrible.'
Acacia thought and nodded her head, Zephyra helped her up to her feet but her legs started to feel weak and she sat back down on the couch harshly.
"I think you haven't walked in a while since you were in that thing." Jahir commented as one of his spider legs pointed to her legs.
The story has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.
"Well that's no problem." Zephyra immediately carried her up in her arms and turned her attention to Kel."Kel start dinner! Make sure it's delicious to welcome our new member."
Acacia was a little bewildered from being lifted but she didn't say anything. 'Her body is so hard.' She noted mentally as she leaned against her.
"You can count on me," Kel shoved his hand in his pocket and walked away towards the kitchen.
Bella crossed her arms under her chest and stared at Zephyra's retreating figure with an unreadable expression.
Zephyra carried Acacia up the metal stairs and towards a room by the left side. The room was very empty and spacious with two mats floor with blankets and a makeshift pillow.
"This is the girl's room and the opposite door is for the lads. Now let's get you cleaned up." Zephyra walked towards the bathroom and closed the door behind her. She gently sat Acacia's body down on a stool close to the shower.
"Wait...you are not undressing me, right? Acacia asked a shiver ran down her spine.
"Of course I am, your body is practically like a slime right now." Zephyra shrugged and stripped Acacia's worn out uniform from her body.
Acacia blushed and wanted to disappear. She felt the water pouring down on her body from the shower, her skin was scrubbed and handled with care. Her hair was washed and combed through. Acacia found herself enjoying the treatment but couldn't help but notice how long her hair was
Acacia held a wet loc of hair in her ha and She raised a brow at the length.
"Is something wrong?" Zephyra asked.
"Uh no." Acacia shook her head and let go of her hair.
"Okay, how do you wash your wings though?" Zephyra questioned.
"What wings? Acacia asked and turned her head over her shoulder to see wet limp wings connected to her back.
"You forgot about your own wings? How long were you in that thing?" Zephyra chuckled and rubbed her skin as the water rinsed off the soap.
"I don't know," Acacia closed her eyes, feeling the warmth of the water over her skin. Her body was then wrapped in a towel and she was carried out of the bathroom.
'I feel like a baby.' Acacia thought as she was secretly enjoying the pampering.
"So um, did an earthquake happen?" Acacia inquired when she was placed on a mat.
Zephyra was silent for a moment. She rummaged through a big and picked out a simple blue dress. "Yes, three years ago."
Acacia was stunned and wanted to speak but she didn't even know what to say. She could remember bits and bits of her memory.
'Three years... something is wrong.' She sighed and stayed still as Zephyra dressed her up. The dress was a bit baggy but it was better than nothing.
"You should rest a bit. I'll bring dinner when it's done." Zephyra patted her head and stood up. Leaving Acacia alone in the room.
"Everything is so confusing." She laid down on the mat and covered her body with the blanket.
'Finally, you're awake and alone.' A voice spoke out in her head.
Acacia sat up on the mat and looked around the room in confusion.
'I am inside your soul, you can't see me.' The voice said.
"Why are you in my soul? Who are you?" Acacia said.
'Speak in your head, I don't need humans listening.' He spoke in a harsh tone.
'Calm down whatever you are. You haven't even answered my question.'
'I am Daemonis, God of rebirth and destruction.' Daemonis answered with a haughty air, as if I were beneath him.
'God of rebirth and destruction? And why are you even in my soul?' She asked and her lips tugged down into a frown.
'We formed a bond and our souls have merged as one.' Daemonis replied
'When did that happen?'
'When your brother killed you.' Daemonis responded with a hint of mirth in his tone.
'....he wouldn't, that's nonsense. Absolute complete nonsense, he has no reason to.' Acacia hesitated to speak and her heart started to race.
'Do you not remember how he made you swallow the poison pill? And how he left you in a quiet alleyway to die?' Daemonis chuckled and the sound of his laugh irritated her to the core.
'Get out of my soul right now.' Acacia said, her left index finger twitched.
'If I do, you die. Your soul was barely hanging on and I had to use every bit of my powers for us to bond and save your life.'
'So I am stuck with you?'
'Yes, I will help you get your revenge on your brother and you help me get my revenge.'
'What makes you think I will help you?! What if I don't want revenge and I just want to die instead.' Acacia scoffed.
'You are such a bad liar, I could feel your bloodlust towards your own brother when you were dying. If you wanted to die, you would have said no and died but you said yes.' Daemonis laughed at her words.
Acacia stayed silent and gritted her teeth, images of her brother walking away kept flashing in her head and making her head ring.
'Do not fight it, dear. It is your inner most desire, you were jealous of him but never acted on it because of you wanted to please your parents and society.'
'Shut up!' She gripped her hair and felt some strands snapping off from her scalp.
'It was the twisted game society played, a carefully crafted illusion designed to trap you humans in a docile manner, trapping your true intentions underneath all those layers of innocence.' Daemonis said with no intention of stopping.
'Shut up! Shut up!' She felt a sharp pain in her head and buried her face in the pillow, her nails digging into her scalp. The memories of her dead friends faces flashed in her head.
'But I am not your enemy, I am your ally. I am showing the truth, your true nature. You silent desire for blood.' Daemonis said in a false sympathetic tone.
'I am not like that, I am not like that. I don't desire blood and I can't kill, you have the wrong person.' She refuted.
'Then why did you hit that man in the face? You broke every bone on his face despite being poisoned and weakened.'
'How did you- the butterfly...The butterfly! It was you!' Acacia gritted out.
'So? All I did was point to the pipe, I didn't ask you to kill him. A few swings would have been enough but you were not satisfied until his face was disfigured. You are rotten to the core and I love it.' Daemonis snickered and she could practically feel his grin.
'Just be quiet. I am not like that.' She snapped.
"By the way, the man who killed your friends." Daemonis suddenly changed the topic.
'Yeah?' Acacia responded with a groan.
'He isn't dead.' Daemonis added and the pain in her head stopped, she removed her hands from her head.
'He is roaming around, not giving a care about your friends who were so dear to you. Your brother probably forgot about you, your family forgot about you. Are you really going to let that be? You can doubt me all you want but I saved you when your own blood brother killed you instead. I promise to help you all the way and give you the power you deserve but you have to accept me, wholeheartedly.' Daemonis gently persuaded her.
'I need time to think.' Acacia took a deep breath and stared down at the floor. Her mind felt like a mess of logic and insanity. She couldn't believe she was actually intrigued by the idea of harming her brother.
'As you wish.' Daemonis replied and his voice slowly faded away.
