Chapter 3+

The days started to become routine, they would wake up in the morning head out singing. Meat a few new creatures on the way, make camp and get attacked once in a while at night. Luckily not every night, some of the creatures he came across were herbivores and not aggressive. Some of the creatures were even friendly like the Cottonfuzzle, ridiculous name, but it fit completely. They were like balls of cotton with eyes and this whip like tail they used to propel themselves with. Their favourite thing to do? Well cuddling of course, the creatures loved getting close to anything that they deemed was friendly and snuggled against it.

He was sure the creatures had some sort of magic sight that let them see the disposition of the creature before them, he had seen them easily avoiding groups of predators that would have surely attacked them. The same creatures were often seen among groups of herbivores, either riding along on the herbivores bodies or just propelling themselves along next to them. Truly an interesting species, he was amazed a creature like that could survive in this environment.

After a week of travelling through the ever mysterious forest, after another night raid by Pitt Panthers, which seemed to be the most common of predators, he reached level three. Which meant he could choose a new feat and get access to another level of spells! The feat he choose was Snake Blood, it would further improve his reflexes and he would be immune to poisons and venoms. Just the sheer amount of gain this feat gave him had left him speechless. Now he could eat any of the herbs or creatures without having to worry about it poisoning him.

He gained another first level spell, camouflage, which does pretty much as advertised and camouflage him or any other person or creature he targeted. At level three the spell lasted three hours just like the light spell. The two second level spells he choose where barkskin, and briarsweb. Barkskin turned his skin into the tough texture of a tree’s bark. Together with camouflage he would be extremely hard to see when standing still or moving carefully. But briarsweb was a truly nasty spell, especially when used together with entangle. The spell grew a multitude of thorns on every nearby plant for thirty seconds. Making it hard for creatures to get close to him as even the underbrush would harm them, used in combination with entangle however, the vines and roots that entangled his enemies would grow thorns and tear up their skin.

Sahjaíl sighed when he thought about the effect the spell would have on anything he used it on. In the end whoever attacked him was fair game, survival of the fittest was the only law in this forest so far. Looking at the remains of the pitt panthers that attacked them he didn’t even skin them anymore. His backpack had already been filled near to bursting. He moved the creatures away from their camp and went to sleep, Ziri cuddling up to him like usual.
