Memories

“You know, you could have reacted faster”

“Shut up, what do you know? You are just a mere novice blacksmith.”

“Apprentice”

“Doesn’t matter, a mere villager that would have died if it weren’t for me!”

“Is that so? Heh, or are you trying to justify your existence? Hiding your guilt at possessing me and killing those defenceless orcs?”

“…”

“Hmph! You are a joke, a failure. A narcissistic fool that never achieved anything in his past life. Escaping from all your problems while wasting your time reading novels online”

“I-“

“Shut it, if it was not for me warning you that this could have been an illusion due to the skeleton wizard not firing immediately, you would have died, we would have died!”

“Athel, let us st-“

“You still have the nerve to talk? If it was not for me giving you all those memories and advice about what should work and what should be used, would you have survived the depth, the illusions or the traps. You would not even have weapons and armour!!”

“Look, I am sorry, but that does not chan-”

“What infuriates me is that you do not even have any idea of what to do with MY body other wanting to fuck elves! Yet you stole away everything I had! No women even bothered with you in your past life, don’t you feel pathetic for even trying? Stop all this nonsense, give me control! Largtha is waiting back home for me… I…wish to see her before you kill us.”

“Athel, I am sorry, but I refuse. You are right about me being a narcissist. You could even call me the devil himself because I will never give you control, I wish to live a better life than I did before. After all, this is a godsend opportunity. Plus, I doubt you are even alive, you are more likely my consciousness being confused with memories of Athel, the person I got reincarnated into”

“…”

“Heck, probably some personality disorder! I should search for therapist in this world! Maybe some kind of mind magic could solve this… Look, don’t deny it, I can see you hiding the memories where one of the skeletons fed you various substances, luckily ending your misery before it could have continued. Then I came and saved your worthless corpse. You should really thank me, otherwise you would have faded into nothingness.”

“Bullshit! Do you think you can survive without me? Or even against me?”

If you find this story on Amazon, be aware that it has been stolen. Please report the infringement.

“No, we would die if you turn against me and sabotage me mentally, but you would lose out more than me. After all, aren’t you the only person here with someone important to see again? To me, it doesn’t matter. This is a foreign world to me. Whether I die or not is not a big deal even if I don’t want to, at most it would be a shame not to enjoy the magic and elves here”.

”…”

“What? Surprised? You shouldn’t be. This is the truth. Get over it, let us discuss something more importan-“

“I pray, Fink Mark, after all this is over that the gods send you to hell to suffer a thousand deaths, YOU FUCKING BASTARD!!!”

“Tsk, your gods have long abandoned you, which god would have left a necromancer kidnap their people and experiment on them? Your so-called gods probably were helping their people out by sending me here. Be thankful, Athel. Oh, and think over what I told you, it is more disadvantageous to you if w-“

———————

A weird itching feeling from my back made me sit up straight with huffed breaths, was I just asleep?

Hmmm, considering I am still alive, it seems the orc destroyed the Skelton wizard!

To confirm this, when light entered my eyes, I saw the ugly yet smirking face of my orc companion with a burning torch strapped to his cloth head helmet.

I was about to ask the orc what happens after I passed out, but unfortunately I could not, because a sharp, burning pain send me took control of my mouth and made me shout like a mother giving birth.

The burning pain that made me rip my hair, scratch the ground and roll on it as I scream with tears going down my eyes.

The orc, seeing me go crazy, quickly put a cloth in my mouth to shut me up and then held me up, locking eyes with me: “quite, I heal you with slime”

Slime? Oh! Right, the freaking slime!!!

Probably seeing my eyes light up, the orc chuckled and moved to my barrel backpack to search for the slime jar.

Once he pulled out a purple liquid filled jar, I quickly started to strip my armour as I felt the most pain in my back, despite almost going insane.

I was however horrified to notice, there was no armour on my back.

No armour…

My heart almost stopped at what the thought could imply…

Meanwhile, the orc quickly came to me and emptied the squirming liquid onto my back after turning me over.

I suddenly felt the pain stop immediately as a fresh cold metallic numbness spread over my back. I then spat the cloth with huffed breaths.

The orc grinned and bend down to clean me of sweat and tears, so I could see clearly.

I immediately asked, “damage!”

The orc calmly replied, “Not too bad, armour protected you but melted. That where most damage come. So me stripped you fast. Me only see burning flesh, no bones”

I sighed in relief, only to see the orc smile broadly with a thump up: “Good head! Me not noticed, almost both died. You attack stopped wizard spell casting. Enough time for me smash him”

I weakly smiled at the orc’s broken language, but then I shakily replied: “f-forget about me, huff…huff…set up as many traps as possible, strip the skeletons and wear their equipments. Our battle should ha-“ I felt pain come through me again, but not as bad as the last time.

I grit my teeth and continued, “should have made a lot of noise. E-E-Enemies should be incoming, only you…could defend us!!”

The orc nodded and stood up, ready to carry out the orders, until he stopped, turned and locked eyes with me again.

“If too much danger, I leave you as distraction” then the dammed psychopath continued carrying my instructions.

I hissed, but I wasn’t surprised.

I would do the same…

After all, I am already thankful he is still even here.

I closed my eyes and prayed for whatever god or thing that sent me here to have mercy on me, as I slowly slipped into darkness…
