Frozen Fairy (3)

Frozen Fairy (3)

Crack. The door continued to break into pieces and crumble under the pressure of my energy. I didn't want to waste the little power that was left for me to use. I could still need it as I hadn't got to my objective quite yet. I bent down to go through the whole on the wood and saw the other side.

A chamber of ice, fitting for the queen of winter. The visual effects from the passage were intensified around the frozen place. A skeleton-bare tree stood right on the middle, still alive and I wondered how it survived as its roots were deep into the ice.

I nearly slided on the ice and couldn't help but notice the fact that the passage was fairly warm, but the chamber was even colder than the outside. Those strenge changes in temperatures were getting on my nerves.

Clank. Clank. Metal hit ice and I looked to the right. A woman, a girl, barely half of my height, was shackled. She stood up and tried to walk to me, but failed as the distance was too much for the chains. When she got to the limit, we just stared at each other for a few moments.

"Nevaska" I said her name, but she got conflicted. No, she was confused, looking into the deep past of her memories. She finally openned her mouth with a small smile, recognizing her own name. "Nevaska? Yes! Yes! That's my name, yes!".

It didn't look right to me. The way she acted was strange. I took my dark hood off, showng my light brown hair and dark eyes. "I came for you, Nevaska". Her eyes seemed to roam through nowhere and she giggled, looking at nothing. "Many have come for me, young man. You are just a drop in the ocean" I raised my brows. There was no way people would have come here to meet her.

"I think it is time for you to let go, Nevaska". I strolled in her direction as calm as forever flowing rivers. "Let go..?" She seemed to have a break down as she simply stopped like she had finally got frozen. Her face contorted and she fell to the ground with tears. "Let go!? You want me to let go!? Who are you to say that!?".

I continued on my way to her, but she continued to speak. "No! Get away from me! Ah! I know, now! Titannia sent you! Yes, she sent you to finally get rid of me!". She was drawning in her own madness as she remembered the name of her sister. She stood up and stepped back, trying to create more distance between us.

"Titannia has nothing to do with this. She and Oberon are no longer alive". Her eyes widened. She protected her mind by lying to herself, convincing her memories that she was betrayed by her family, but she didn't seem to be strong enough to accept the fact that her sister was dead. Deep into her heart, she knew that she was the one to betray Titannia in her madness.

"Shut up! You are lying to me! Leave me alone!" Her back hit the wall and she slided to the floor while looking at me. I got closer to her not showing any emotion. "I thought I was doing the job of the devil, but I guess I am doing you a favor". She was terryfied and I hesitated as she looked like a young girl.

I closed my eyes to recover my determination took a deep breath. Energy surrounded my arm before I looked at her once again. She was whispering things to herself, giggling and crying at the same time.

I jumped over her and pressed my hand over her chest. My energy invaded her body as her eyes lost color.

...

Laying her body carefully on the cold hard floor, I looked at the ice flower on my hand. Perfectly made, it looked like it was made of a rare pale blue crystal. She was mad, but still a fairy and her beautiful soul showed that.

Dark flames came out of my hand and consumed her frozen soul as I stood up to get away from the prison. There were still eight souls on the list.
