Chapter 33 - The End

Chapter 33 - The End

After a couple of minutes in silence, Nina decided it was time to continue: “And what happened next Adrian?”

“I do not know.”

“Don’t lie to me Adrian, we both know what happened.”

She had a calming voice but that had no effect on Adrian who was as cold as ice at that moment.

“Then you tell me.”

“I can’t do that, you have to face what you’ve done and embrace it, only that way can you be forgiven and healed.”

“No. There is nothing to be forgiven. I killed The Crow, my father, and Isaac because they deserved it. They had to be stopped. There is nothing to be forgiven.”

“Are you sure Adrian?”

“Stop playing with me! I know what happened!”

“Then tell me Adrian, only you can save yourself.”

Adrian finds himself caught in a tempest of emotions. Obsession consumes him, paranoia grips his mind, fear of the unknown weighs heavily on his heart as he fights with the horrors he witnessed in his dreams and the reality, the heavy truth that floats above his mind. Guilt gnaws at his conscience, blaming himself for not preventing the killings and saving the victims. Desperation pushes him beyond the edge, amid confusion and disorientation, he struggles to see the difference between the truth and the shadows of his mind. As Nina’s pressure deepens he feels like an outsider, misunderstood by those around him. So many different emotions intertwine, driving Adrian further away from the safety and close to madness as he couldn’t find any difference between truth and delusion.

His mind couldn’t take it any longer, he snapped, jumped from the chair and grabbed Nina by her throat. She looked at him, with sadness in her eyes as he kept punching her face over and over again.

He screamed : “Stop looking me like that mom! Just like that night when I killed you! You look exactly the same!” he kept punching, his hands all bloody.

“Did you want to hear that? Yes I was the one killing all these people, I was the one replacing the Crow. Isaac had no idea until the end when I killed Frank. HE barged in looking for my father but his shock when he saw me made him drop on his knees and cry. That did not make me stop as I continued torturing my friend. Even Theo couldn’t be saved as he begged me to stop, he begged so much all night, “we are friends Adrian don’t do this” if we were friends he wouldn’t leave me alone! He would turn Leigh against me and then go to the police! That traitor he deserved all of that!”

Stolen novel; please report.

He was out of breath, Nina’s, his mother’s face, couldn’t be recognized. She still had strength to talk : “But what happened after you killed Isaac?”

“Nothing!!!” he screamed.

“Son,”

“Don’t call me like that!”

He plucked her eye out and ate it.

“Leigh’s were tastier mother, she almost ran away, but at the edge of the forest I caught her and did what I had to do. I ate only one before a bullet went through my brain. IS that what you wanted to hear?”

Nina did not scream, as she didn’t feel any pain, tears came down from her eye, : “And do you feel sorry for what you did son? For the bad things you did? Will you seek forgiveness?”

With that sentence Adrian got mad again, he started hitting her again and screaming : “I didn’t do anything! I didn’t do anything bad? Can’t you understand that?!!!”

Everything went silent. Adrian stood up and sat down. He covered his eyes with his bloody hands as he kept telling himself : “I did not do anything bad……….” Over and over again. Time passed.

Adrian came back to his senses and he didn’t know where he was or what was he doing. For a moment everything was blank, he couldn’t remember anything. He was sitting in a dark-red chair in a small room with lights turned off. The only source of light that was coming into the small room was from the outside. Even that was hardly and light as the black curtains blocked the sun to get inside the room.

He heard a noise from the outside and soon after that someone opened the door. A woman came in. She was very pretty, tall and she had long brown hair. She was wearing glasses. When she sat down somehow In this darkness he saw a wedding ring on her hand, so she was married he thought.

She noticed that he was looking at her so she gave him a weak smile and started to write something in a black notebook. After a minute or two, the woman finally spoke.

“You don’t have any questions?”

Her voice wasn’t what he thought it would sound.

“I-I do.”

“Go ahead.”

“Who are you and what am I doing here?”

“My name is Nina, I am your psychiatrist. For the last couple of weeks you’ve been coming here because of your trauma that causes you memory loss.”

“My-My trauma?”

“Yes, you already told me a lot so again this time don’t hold back please, that is very important. Every time you come here you lose a part of your memory again because of something that happened on the summer break. So every time we start from there. Now again I repeat, I know a lot, you’ve been coming here for weeks so do not hold back. Everything you say may help me find the problem, you’ve shown a lot of progress so start please when you feel like it.”

It took him a long minute to understand everything he just heard.

“So in short,” he thought, “I am a crazy person now……Great.”

“I know it is a lot to take in right now but trust me just start talking and it will be alright.” Nina said.

“ Alright,” said Adrian, “I’ll start.”
