PROLOGUE:
To Be Free
As dusk turned dawn, I had been struck by a dull ray that strayed from the Goliath Star of Heibeck. Although dim, it was plenty to wake me from my shallow slumber, and with a quick glance at my surroundings I had slowly remembered what I had wanted to forget...
The surrounding air felt heavy and damp. It was a feeling I was used to as I had resided in this gloomy cave for a third of my lifetime. Each and every day I had woken in the same way, vertically entrapped in a grotesque web.
Like this, I had stared off into the ray for an insignificant amount of time till my hazy memory had cleared, and I recalled why I was here. My mother rid me of her when I was at the tender age of six, right after my father had left us. It seemed like she saw a bit of him in me, as she would always scoff in my direction after the incident; unfortunately, I was too young to understand it. Not long after he left us, she had brought me to the edge of the Kinsel Forest, and told me to go forth and search for a golden blossom, as it would be able to cure me of the sickness and plagues that I supposedly carried. Thus, I had ventured in bravely, taking my time to survey the landscape, and surprisingly, I could not find one Golden Blossom no matter how hard I searched. Thus, I had turned back and called for my mother, only to find out she was no longer there… All that was left was a note on a large stone that told me:
“Do not search for me as I never loved you, and I have constantly wished for your death, but as I am merciful, I granted you abandonment, and have thus revoked your name. Goodbye and good riddance.”
After reading the note, tears had welled up in my eyes as I bawled and screamed uncontrollably. Unbeknownst to me, if I hadn't cried… If I had not made a sound… It... would not have found me.
If I hadn’t cried… If I hadn’t made any noise, I would’ve been able to evade the creature. But alas, I was discovered by an alluring woman with a spider’s body. A devilish smile decorated it’s delicate pale face, as the slender arachne approached me gradually with her arms open wide. When it was but an arm’s length away, she had spoken to me in a dulcet tone...
“Fufufu~ What is your name, young one?”
I did not know how to respond to her. It was not that I was too young to understand, but it was because my mom had told me I could no longer use the name she gave me. Thus I remained speechless, and stared into the abyss that was her many eyes.

“Hmm~ No Response? Do you perhaps have a name~~?”
It was a simple motion, only the shake of my head… but it should be known that even a motion could be interpreted with a thousand words.
“Abandoned and left without a name~ Such a pitiful child… Come, let me take care of you~~”
And with that statement she closed the arm’s gap between us, and reached for my hand with a menacing expression; however, I was unable to perceive her expression, as I was held captive in the charm of her many seductive eyes. She had six eyes, and with each set of eyes their colors gradually darkened. The first set of eyes were a light shade of pink, which was followed by a pair of scarlet eyes and then a pair of crimson appeared after. I did not understand at the time, but after experiencing this phenomenon on many occasions I can conclude that an Arachne’s eyes have a charm-like effect, where it robs one of their consciousness.
By the time I had come to it was already too late, I could feel a change in the air. It was heavy and moist, and at the time I opened my eyes, I could feel a draft of freezing cold air collide with my bare body, it seemed I was left undressed and I was suspended in the air with my arms and legs spread out, held by many strands of silk.
“Ara~ Awake are we?”
A chill shot through my spine as it felt like she had beamed through my eyes only to look upon my soul.
“Y-yes…”
“Fufu~ There is no need to be afraid little one, I will make sure you enjoy your stay here~~”
A sadistic smile developed on her face as she looked at my body with interest. I had, at that point, noticed something odd in her hands. It was a long braided rope of silk that was frayed at an approximate third of the way down. I could not comprehend the usage of the object, but it seemed like I would not have to ask, as she had noticed where my eyes were locked.
“Hmm~ This is what your kind would call a whip~~”
“It is a device that can be used to subject an individual with a sharp, erotic pain~~ <3”
With just a sentence, she had rapidly drained the color from my face. My once inquisitive expression swiftly changed to one of dismay, and regret. I could hear her giggling as she looked upon me.
“Fufufufu~ Such a cute expression!! Shall we begin~~?”
And just like that, long hours of excruciating pain had turned to many days of suffering. Days changed to weeks, and weeks became years, with each and every day being worse than the last, but always similar in the way the day was started… A simple choice was provided to the young child for the Spider’s entertainment.
“You may eat or you may run… You cannot choose both!”
