Chapter 3: The Mighty Wicks

Chapter 3: The Mighty Wicks

Staring at the two white oak doors, Ezekiel and Titania had already attempted to simulate the conversation that will be had once they sat down. Titania was dreading it but Ezekiel didn't mind much, after all he would get to see that man again. The extraordinary being whom you can barely call a man, for he might even transcend that. He who shines brighter than the sun itself, refined to the brink of human potential, soaring above the ranks to that of the world's strongest, King Arthur Wick. One of if not the greatest man the current era of the world has to offer, a person who will undoubtedly go down in history books once his tale is all said and done. Ezekiel's foremost idol, as well as his absolute greatest rival, the level which Ezekiel plans on far surpassing. Also otherwise known as the father of Princess Titania Wick, and the husband Queen Theresia Wick, Ezekiel's savior.

Wade: "Hold it Ezekiel, aren't you forgetting something?"

Ezekiel: "What happened?"

Wade: "Your face, i'm sure the King and Queen wouldn't be pleased to see you in such a state despite their fondness of you."

Ezekiel: "!"

Touching his face he felt the ragged bumps and scratches etched onto his face, he could almost see the purple and swelling. Ezekiel's eyes widened and he paniced a bit, under absolutely no circumstance could he walk in as he was. Arthur Wick, if there is a person in this world whom Ezekiel will absolutely never consciously show weakness to, its that man. That doesn't mean keeping your guard up, no Ezekiel was extremely fond of Arthur Wick and saw him as an Uncle. What Ezekiel means is physical weakness, being bruised or beat, losing in a physical altercation with another. Showing tears or discomfort, complex emotions all of the above were forbidden to show to King Arthur Wick.

To Ezekiel this rule was unbreakable, it was a standard he held himself to since the moment he met Arthur Wick personally, and became his family.Looking at Titania for assistance, Ezekiel immediately regretted that decision, the devil girl was sneering at him. Putting up her four fingers towards her mouth, Titania chuckled quietly at Ezekiel's distress. Although never told, Titania was also aware of Ezekiel's steel rule when it came to her father. She thought of it as idiotic and rebuked it, so a chance for it to come tumbling down was quite accepted to her.

Wade: "Ezekiel come."

Ezekiel: "Thank god."

Titania: "Tch."

Hoping in the panic that Ezekiel would forget about Wade's healing magic was a sudden reality. However, counting on Wade's assistance in her fiendish plan was a miscalculation on Titania's part. She clicked her tongue with a hiss, now all there was to think about was breakfast. Wade extended his hand that lacked a glove onto Ezekiel's face, a sudden peach light began spewing from Wade's uncovered hand. It was sparkling down onto Ezekiel's face, the essence of life which flourished in the air, otherwise known as the "Breath of Life". Magic, is the most basic term for it.

The Breath of Life is the essence which makes of the world itself, which enables people and creatures to use magic. The particles which make up the world are the foundation of everything, all came from the Breath of Life. The particles themselves are each living entites, they all work in unison to keep everything intact.

They don't have "souls" such as people and creatures they breathe life into, no, they themselves take the form of all souls. Which is why not everyone is equal when it comes to magic. There are those who are blessed by magic, specially crafted beings whom are loved by the Breath of Life. They were given extra attention by the world itself, which is why magic heeds there commands to extreme extents.

Not everyone is equal, you either have the talent for magic, or you don't. However even those with no talent at all are able to use the most basic spells, in that right all are equal. The Breath of Life is a prestigious endeavor to seek out and study upon in the current day and age. The origins and the mysteries which magic bring are usually blurred out by how common it is. Even so, the main underlying factor which separates magic from physical Refinement is creativity.

Such as an artist with a paint brush, the user is dubbed the painter while magic is the tool, how many colors are given is up to the paint brush itself. The outcome is defined by how well the artist comprehends the colors he is given and the ability to mix them together in unison. How much one is able to paint is dependent on how blessed they are with colors, aka how blessed they are by the Breath of Life.

Wade: "Your face is fine, don't doubt my magic prowess Titania."

Titania: "Hck. I did nothing of the sort. I know my esteemed butler is multi talented, thats what qualifies you for such a position. Now can we go in Wade?"

Attempting to evade the conversation entirely, Titania was embarrassed for hoping Wade woke up on the wrong side of the bed and couldn't cast magic correctly. Once she saw the splendid peach colored essence of light spew from his hand which could make even the shiniest jewls look dull, she realized her ignorance. Wade was never to be doubted, his word is all mighty, if he says or implies he is capable of something, then he is.

Wade looked at Titania and held his tongue, he felt that there was already enough delay, the children of the royal family should be fed already. The next generation shimmers brightly, just how many stars will be seen in the current age, who will reach far beyond the skies and rival the power structure. What type of legends will be brought on by the children of those who rule. Wade at his age loved to think about these types of things. With that, he opened the doors.

Wade: "King and Queen Wick, I hope you're well this morning where the sun shines bright, the newly and soon to be young adults have arrived to for breakfast, I hope everyone enjoys what the chefs poured their heart into. Please don't leave anything on your plate Titania."

Titania: "I understand, gosh your embarrassing me Wade."

Wade: "Then, I shall take my leave."

???: Leave it to Wade, wisdom of an experienced veteran, you should listen intently Titania, or it might bite you later."

With an abrasive and righteous voice booming throughout the dining room shamelessly. With authority that could even make kings bow reflexively, Arthur rose his voice for all to hear. His flamboyance was second to none, if anyone deserved the spotlight it was King Arthur. Wearing a well embellished black leather tunic with a gleaming royally red cape on his back. He had golden buttons on the left side of his tunic giving it a majesty air. His beard was fine trimmed and exuded manliness, his eyes showed the expansive journey he's experienced, a tale too long for just one book. He had auburn long hair which was shoulder length. Sitting at a dining table with white cloth over it, matching candles assembled as decoration with 4 plates, as well as the usual silverware one would have at a high class restaurant.

The two children moved to sit down, Ezekiel in front of his uncle Arthur, and Titania in front of her absolutely stunning mother, Theresia. The abnormally gorgeous matured lady had a waist tight dress which loosened at her hips, a casual yet fashionable yellow dress with hints of black around the lower end. Her long silky white hair swayed greater than a calm sea of snow, her dialated black eyes gave her a snow bunny appearance. She also had long ears, the type of lobes a human wouldn't have, she was of a different race, the elfs.

Theresia: "Titania, Zeke. How kind of you to show up early, i'm sure you were working hard so why don't you sit and eat with us."

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

Arthur: "Early is the perfect word of course, it's not as if the king and queen we're starving before their humble children arrived."

Theresia: "Cease at once, you always ruin my motherly atmosphere with barbarism Arthur!"

Ezekiel: "It's fine auntie, I think a lively room is a great place to be in, don't you think so?

Speaking from personal preference, Ezekiel was someone who needed to be involved in something greater than being alone. Parties, adventures, banquets, Ezekiel liked all types of social or dangerous events which spurred emotion forth. It was sort of a second hand hobby, this of course changed after the incident of his village.Since then Ezekiel was only a shell of himself before he actually woke up to the people who were obsessed about his well being.

Being in a lively room let's Ezekiel escape from reality, nostalgia burning exquisitely, he can breathe normally, without a care.Titania had a different mood to her, unlike before she had become reserved, she regretted not changing her cloths before. She allowed her usually casualness spew her onto a training fit, but now while faced by her almost divine parents, she was shrinking. The reason was simple really, the cloths her parents had on was because they had a duty to uphold today.

Arthur: "Chefs please bring in the food. Let us see the spirit of those who call themselves gourmet."

Ezekiel: "Shishishi, I'm assuming these are special occasion chefs? You really go all out Uncle."

Theresia: "Hmpf. I'm a bit saddened that Zeke thinks Arthur planned this, why can't you assume it was me?"

Ezekiel: "Auntie? That's a suprise, well I guess not since you do have the best taste amongst the Wick's"

Arthur & Titania: "HUHHH?!"

The matter of taste was one which the entire Wick family including Ezekiel disagreed upon entirely. The individualism of these extraordinary family was immense, the differences in what one like and dislikes vary heavily. Ezekiel making a comment on such a topic was likey to spur into a higher contemplation. Especially since the King and Princess had quite the confidence in there own thinking and styles.Arthur regained his composure in an instance, it was almost an elusive sight. One second his tongue was near flailing, the next his face concealed all emotion, becoming mysterious and dark, it gave rise to goosebumps.

Titania at her fathers actions did the same, realizing the same thing he did, Ezekiel was truly in a social and upstanding mood.Going as far as teasing everyone in his vicinity, he was truly in a bliss, his family not only filled his heart, but it was growing. Tart's valiance flashed into Ezekiel's mind for a second before it vanished. The lotus blooms twice, and so Tart shall as well. Pushing that matter aside, Ezekiel was interested in what lies ahead.

In an explosive manner, the tranquil dining room ornamented with paintings of flower fields and beaches of extreme aestheticism was breached. Chefs proudly wearing their sigmas on their hat came barging in with carts filled with silver domed plates. The symbol was a fruitbasket with plentifulness in it's entirety, fruits of all kinds from a vast amount of lands. From apples which were from (insert land name), mangos and grapes from (insert land name), even bananas and pineapples from (insert land name). And flat in the middle of all those exotic fruits, was a fried drumstick on top. It was a very detailed image, you can tell how proud these chefs were of their symbol.

Theresia: "Thank you for your service chefs of Sky Comedus, I've had the pleasure of tasting one of your meals, so I know my family will feel the same as I."

???: "Oh but of course madam, it is of no great deal for us to serve such a grateful customer. We have taken the liberty of keeping the course a secret, I hope our suprise to you King and Queen Wick, as well as their children is up to standards."

Theresia: "Much obliged Head chef Tranny."

The head chef had made her introduction to the royal family of Wick. She was an old lady with a pot belly that screamed her expertise and wide knowledge of everything which taste supreme. Her long wavy hair was held in a bun and her wrinkles giving her age away structured her face. She truly looked kind, like a person whom is truly passionate about their craft, a proud person. With an eccentric display, chefs of all color uniform from black to white and everything in between surrounded the hall. They kept on piling through the doors in unison with a strict pattern. Ezekiel for a moment glanced from the head Chef onto a singular figure which popped out the door with a hat on rather than bare headed like the rest.

His face was pointed down and his brown curls outstretched themselves to protect his faces identity. Ezekiel followed the boy amongst grown men with one eye without turning his head. For an odd reason Ezekiel felt a sort of shock fly throughout his body causing him to jump up unorderly. All the chefs stopped, they stood still such as an untouched pond, and stared in Ezekiel's direction. The head chef as well as Ezekiel's family were looking at him with a variety of flavors. Theresia was shocked, her eyes widened and her pupils grew larger. Titania was more cautious of the irregular movement of Ezekiel's. Arthur on the other hand was completely off the radar. He simply glared at Ezekiel with a mystic expression, fogging even the faintest wiff of internal thoughts. The face was a bit off putting to Ezekiel in a strange manner that can't be explained.

Theresia: "Zeke? Is everything ok? Your face looks a bit pale, maybe you trained too hard without eating isn't that so?

Ezekiel: "Ahhh, yes auntie maybe you have a point, I guess I did push myself a bit too hard. Let's eat without delay then."

Putting a smile for show, Ezekiel showed his whitened teeth which sparkled. Theresia made a complicated expression with one eye brow raised but otherwise let it go. Ezekiel was special, he didn't act like other children, he had his own manner of going about things. Silently with invisible weight that piles mercilessly so, an irregular way for a child to act. She hated it, with a passion, Theresia absolutely abhorred seeing the change but having no response or actual explanation to how the change grew about. Seeing the eyes grow deeper and deeper, like a lake of blood which grows and condenses even further, becoming more pungent and powerful was frustrating.

Ezekiel was an anomaly she couldn't understand, which is why she will take all the time she needs to comprehend the strong little warrior. After head chef Tranny received confirmation of Ezekiel's well being, she motioned for her chefs near the door to come forth. Four men step foward, and among them, the curly haired chef, the only one wearing a chefs hat, came in the front of the men. Perhaps because of his height, or maybe a signal of something more prestigious. Each man grabbed two plates and laid it upon the table on a designated consumer.

Almost like a string of fate, the boy that caught Ezekiel's eye was the one setting a plate on the table for him. He tried to look into the child's eyes but came up short, his hair fully covered them as well as half of his face. There was nothing to analyze or to identify as a person, the emptiness in the amount of detail Ezekiel glimpsed was slightly frightening but alluring as well. Just who is this chef, he's young and certainly strange, Ezekiel questioned what felt so odd about him.

Tranny: "Well I hope all are ready, we prepared this as delicately as we could, to truly prove our name Sky Comedus!"

Arthur: "I'm going to be critiquing and analyzing, exact points shall be given, since you know, my taste are quite exotic as opposed to my beautiful wife."

Theresia: "So the words your fumbling for are, 'I'm still a bit upset about Zeke's comment.' Right? Delightful husband."

The couple both turned to stare at each other, and to the dismay of all around, the atmosphere turned slightly heavy. It felt like gravity itself was pulling towards the two in a far softer manner than like with Wither for example. The expressions however weren't those of rage or discomfort, but smiles. Not just any smile of course, a specific smile meant for the occasion, in a scenario where one can't truly express themselves due to foreign company, this smile existed. In order to convey the rage and inner thoughts of "Just wait till later", the two truly looked joyus, which made them look insane all the same.

Tranny didn't flinch at such a grand interaction, instead in order to appease the tension which suddenly rose, she told the chefs to lift the silver domes covering the food with her hands. At once, each chef pulled up the silver domes, an array of gleaming light and an aroma that can only he properly described as "heavenly" by Ezekiel, covered the air. The incredible scent of mixed flavors of exquisitely boiled vegetables with beyond perfectly made eggs converged upon one another making the other scent stand even greater. Both plates were well ornamented with the creativity of a true artist born to mesh flavors together. One plate had a bowl with a gorgeous egg flat in the middle, and crust of what seemed like a variety of different vegetables. The second plate had french toast with cream laid out in front making it seem sweeted to a perfect degree.

Mouths were starting to water, the stress of the table had disappeared instantly, like it never existed. The manner which the splendid food disappated the uneasiness of each individual was unmatched. It was true, food brought about true unity, when one shares a meal with another, they grow closer. They're experiences and laughter begin to meld with one another making new memories that make the person. A bond which was shaky grows further with each spoonful shared with another. This was the purpose by which Sky Comedus functioned, to bring people together to laugh, the true purpose of a chef which can't be replaced.

Tranny: "The entree is a breakfast special from (insert kingdom name), It is a dish built where the vegetables are the foundation of it all. Diced yellow onion, red bell pepper, jalapeño, seeds removed, minced garlic, ground cumin, smoked paprika, ground cinnamon, allspice, harissa, crushed tomatoes, chickpeas, lemon zest, chopped cilantro and crusty bread for serving. Then once all the ingredients are well cooked the sunny side up eggs are added on top."

Ezekiel: "Wow, and..."

Tranny: "Of course, thats just regular frenchtoast."

Titania: "Pfft."

After the extravagant introduction of the main dish, Titania was caught off guard by the sudden straightforwardness when describing the second side dish. It's true that as opposed to the entree the side dish definitely was not up to standard. The display and fanciness of the side dish paled in comparison to the beautifully arranged crust with a egg as the heart of it all. Although, the aroma of the side dish refused to stand down, it kept on pulling on Titania's nose with eagerness. So, Titania decided to try the regular french toast first.

She picked up her utensils while ignoring the napkins which needed to be placed at ones lap. Theresia was infuriated by such actions but knew now wasn't the time to snap. Titania with barely passable etiquette dove her fork into the French toast, cutting a piece with her butter knife. The toast split excellently, soft and pliable, the cream poofed a bit with steam once opened but it didnt flood out immediately. Titania made a complicated expression as if trying to figure out a complicated formula from scratch with no reference. Her head started thumping with anxiousness of wanting to unravel the mystery of the creamed frenchtoast aroma. So to appease her curiosity, Titania ate the piece of French toast. The sun rose elegantly upon the horizon, the rays of warm light reflected off the royal blue water. Family's with children of all ages partied on a beach with excitement.

Raging drunks and gleeful children were seen from all sides, smiles and fun was to be had on all sides. Boys and girls playing with each other in the water as their parents cooked incredible food for a barbecue. A bliss, the comfort and safety along with the daring and adventurous, truly made for a wonderful view. Returning to reality, Titania's eye's had rolled back from excess esctasy entering her system far too rapidly. Her lips curled into in uncontainable frown of what looked like pain but was rather too much pleasure. She could feel butterflies in her stomach, writhing about and talking full control of her body. The frenchtoast wasn't just frenchtoast.

Titania: "Haaaamhm."

Ezekiel: "You ok Ania?

Titania: "D-d-delicious, my mouth is burning, I can't keep my tears in."
