Book 1 Chapter 3: With great power, comes great fun: Part 2

*Now to myself.* Roy took a deep breath and directed Mike to create some robots. The robots would be able to do what Roy told them to. They would be as small as Mike could make them without compromising their functions and store them inside Roy's body. Mike decided to convert some of Roy's fat to make them. Roy warned Mike not to make too much, only a hundred or so of them.

Then he went into a detailed discussion with Mike on the psychic powers he unlocked last night. Telekinesis was like conjuring extra invisible limbs one had to control. Mike won't be able to help Roy with this ability. Roy would have to figure this one out himself. Inception was like planting a seed in ground, only in this case one would be planting an idea in someones mind and let it grow. Mike would be able to help Roy with this ability. As for precognition, it was a passive ability. It can't be controlled. It would activate by itself when conditions are met.

Over the course of next 1 week, Roy mastered the inception ability. It was an ability where he could plant an idea, or a thought into someone's mind and as long as they weren't too averse to the idea, they would treat it as their own. Suffice to say, the ability to change a person's mind was and always would be a weapon of terrifying potential. However, its effect was not to be confused with hypnosis. Roy used the ability to various effects. The stingy shopkeepers gave him large discounts, the neighborhood girls became very affectionate with him, and a random stray dog did tricks without any sort of training. Roy discovered that he could use inception onto any creatures with some form of intelligence, like dogs, cats and snakes. But since insects didn't have any intelligence, Roy couldn't use inception on them.

By this time, Sam had finished running all the tests and corrected over 7000 issues, ranging from small issues like line alignment problem in screens to critical calculation errors. She created separate files for every issue, with issue description, evidence screen shot, and the fix done. She even separated them by category. Roy was astonished with the thorough execution and complimented Sam on a job well done. He told her that she can do whatever she wants for the next week. She went into the internet, learning about the latest technologies and systems.

For the next 1 week, Roy trained his telekinesis ability. It was a pretty much the textbook ability where he could move things without touching them. He started with small things. Levitating a small rocks, taking out a book from shelf. Then he moved onto bigger things. By the end of the week, he could lift a heavy truck completely off the ground as easily as picking up a tennis ball, do precise control like threading five needles simultaneously, and fly for hours long without getting tired. Moreover, he could do them without making any gesture whatsoever.

The precognition ability was something Roy described as very cool ability. It was like an unconscious awareness of his surroundings, like he knew what would happen around him even before it happened. It not only warned him of any imminent danger, but also of any happenings out of order. However, even if he got the early warning, Roy had to act on his own if wanted to take action. This ability saved him from 4 would-be broken dishes at home, and from a collision with a car driven by a drunk driver.

The most frightening thing Roy noticed was, he could control these psychic abilities like he was born with them and had been using them for all his lifetime. Even Mike was amazed by it. He commented that it took Frank almost a year to get a grip on his basic empath ability. The final conclusion was that Roy must have a tremendous natural affinity towards psychic abilities which was why he could master them so easily.

By this time, Sam had learned everything there was to learn about new things and commented that no technology on earth was up to par with her. If Roy didn't provide any sort of help, it would take earth at least 500 years more to get to an acceptable level in terms of technology.

Now after two weeks of absence, Roy returned to work. He kept the original work laptop at his home and took Sam with him since she looked exactly the same, she can mimic the office laptop permissions and restriction perfectly, and can do a vastly better job than that piece of junk. At the office gate, he was greeted by one of his colleague, a fellow software developer. They exchanged greetings and the colleague asked worriedly if everything was OK back home. Roy made up a story that he was very sick and the doctor strictly advised him to stay in bed. But he was okay now and he would resume his work.

Stolen novel; please report.

Roy worked for a company which dealt in the banking and financial sector. They created banking softwares and sold them to customers.

On the way to inside the office building, he greeted the receptionist. The receptionist and Roy was at most acquaintance, so there was no need for him to do so. But Roy had a plan, so this was important, "Good morning Nila."

The receptionist looked up from the computer screen and noticed Roy. She smiled and waved, "Hi, good morning. How's your health now?"

Roy told her the same story he told his colleague in brief. But he found it odd that she knew he was sick. They weren't that close, at least that's what Roy thought. Was she a secret admirer of him? Nah, that can't be possible. That kind of thing only happened in comics. So he asked her how she knew he was sick. She told him that the annual office party was around the corner and she wanted him to sign up for the opening dance performance like last year. But she couldn't reach him on his office desk phone, and one of the their common friends told her that he was sick.

Roy had forgotten about the party due to the recent events. He smiled inwardly as this event would give him the opportunity to execute part of his plan. Nila informed him that he should come to the basement parking space for the rehearsal, if he wanted. Roy assured her that he would be there and went on his way.

Roy went inside the office, sat down at his desk and took out Sam. He checked his pending mails quickly. Then he went to meet with his colleagues since he was absent for two weeks. All of them asked about his sickness and congratulated him on his speedy recovery. After he met his peers, he went to meet his boss in his personal room.

"Good morning Sir. Can I come in?" Roy opened the door halfway and peeked in. His boss was a stout man in his forties. He was very different from the other obese bosses as he worked out to stay in shape and had an air of intimidation around him. But he was friendly.

"Oh good morning to you too Roy. Yes come in come in. How are you feeling now?" He smiled widely at Roy and gestured him to sit across him in the chair.

"I am all recovered sir." Roy took a seat and made himself comfortable. His boss asked him various questions regarding his sickness, subtly trying to find out any discrepancies in his story. Roy made sure to answer him in such a way that it would be hard to tell that he was actually lying, all the while he kept his poker face. When his boss didn't find any lie in Roy's words, he nodded and turned his attention to office work.

"Well it's good that you are back finally. There's a lot of work pending. I will ask your manager to assign some task to you." His boss concluded and turned his attention to the computer screen, universal sign for all the bosses that the conversation was over. However, Roy wasn't having that. After all, his boss held the key to the next part of his plan. "That would be great, but actually sir, I wanted to ask something regarding the new project which is coming next month."

His boss slowly turned to look at him, all pretense of caring had evaporated in air. He was in the calculating boss mode, "Ask away."

At this moment, Roy used inception on his boss. All the bosses, no matter who, were always scheming to maximize their profits. As such, they had many thoughts in their minds at the same time. They were easy targets for inception. Roy planted the idea that his boss wanted Roy to be the manager for this new project and he would be the best choice for it.

Roy put on his most sincere voice and spoke, "I was wondering whether I could be the one to handle the new project? You know, I have been here for a long time now. So I am thinking that it is a good chance to show my worth."

His boss's eyes went blank for a minute due to the amount of pressure Roy created on him through inception. Roy shook his head and smiled to himself. He tended to forget that people had no natural mental defense to block inception. As such, Roy forgot to tone down the inception pressure due to his nervousness. After a minute, when his boss regained his clarity, he spoke like he didn't notice that he went blank, "You know what, I was also thinking along the same line. There are others who have also requested me for this position, but from what I know, there will be a lot of changes and this particular client is very perfection oriented. So I wanted someone responsible like you to manage this whole venture. And now that you are also asking for it yourself, I think I will go ahead and make it official."

Roy smiled widely at him, "Thank you sir. I will start preparing right away."

Roy got out of the room and came back to his desk. Within 10 minutes, he got several mails from his boss. One congratulating him on his new responsibilities, others detailing the discussions that had taken place with the client till this far. There was also a mail stating that next month, he will have to fly to customer side for requirement gathering. He got a chat message from his boss saying that he should raise the requests for visa processing, flight ticket booking and advance for expense. Roy did as he asked. By the time Roy completed raising the requests for everything, it was already lunchtime.

Since his mother died, Roy didn't bother to bring homemade lunch, since he couldn't get time to cook on weekdays. He normally always ate out. Only on the weekends, if he had no plans of going anywhere, he would cook food. Even then he wasn't much good as a cook. He could fix himself simple meals, but any dish which required a lot of ingredients and spices were a no-go.

After he ate lunch, he went back to his seat instead of going for a walk with his friends. His office only had security cameras on the corridors, not in the rooms. And this made perfect place for his next experiment. When he greeted and shook hands with his female coworkers this morning, he made sure to transfer some of the robots he made earlier to some of them and made those bots attach themselves to the brain's pleasure centers. And now that the room was mostly empty since most of the people left for lunch, he made his move.
