Jack couldn’t remember his brother ever running so fast before.
He was looking around, squinting into the darkness. For a second Jack thought about just letting him run around in circles, it put a smile on his face but it looked like he was in trouble of some sort.
“Over here Bryan” Jack called. Reluctantly he pulled himself up from huddling with Sara and waved his arms over his head at his brother.
Bryan saw Jack waving his arms at him and just shook his head at him as he finally reached him.
“Good job genius!” Bryan yelled, his face red with anger as he came to a stop a few feet from the rocks.
Putting his arms behind his head he paced slowly in front of the pair trying to catch his breath. “Now...” he breathed “they are going to know exactly where I went!”
Jack sat back down next to Sara and looked at Bryan with a blank confused face. “Who is they?” He asked.
Bryan looked behind him the way he had come and Jack tried to follow his gaze. In the crowd about one hundred feet and closing was a group of ten or so fraternity brothers in a hurry.
Squinting at the huge guy leading the charge, Jack was getting the idea. “Is that...”
“Your pall Jimmy from the walk here? Yep.” Bryan sarcastically interrupted, still breathing heavily, hunched over with his hands on his knees.
Bryan turned back, and his eyes settled on Sara and the first time, realizing his brother had some company. “Looks like you are doing much better for yourself.” He scoffed. “Who’s this?”

“O, right. Sara this is my brother Bryan, Bryan this is Sara.” Jack hastily introduced.
Finally tearing his gaze away from the group charging through the crowd, he turned to Sara in disappointment, realizing he would soon be running to.
Sara saw the look in his eyes and smiled a playful grin, “you’re not getting rid of me that easy, let’s get the hell out of here!” At that, she stood and grabbed hold of Jack’s hand, with an iron grip.
Jack was at a loss for words, no girl had made him feel like this before, let alone openly showing feelings like this towards him. His stomach floated with butterflies like the feeling when going over a quick hill on a roller coaster. His thoughts where running a mile a minute.
Is this just a California thing? Was she just messing with him? O no, my hand is already getting sweaty!
“Ok love birds, time to go!” shouted Bryan, spotting what now resembled and lynch mob getting within thirty feet, bringing Jack back to reality.
As Jack jumped off the rocks and turned to help Sara down, the sky lit up in vivid green light so bright it could have been noon.
Everyone stopped dead in their tracks, even over the music you could hear the collective intake of breath as the hundreds of people’s gaze shot to the sky.
What followed was a Boom so loud that shook the earth to its core.
As the green meteor broke through the atmosphere, it started growing a tail of a rainbow of burning colors, blue, red, and orange all shifted behind the green meteor, bright as day in the eerie green sky.
There was a Second explosion, the likes of which had never heard by human kind before. It was an earsplitting crack followed by a shockwave that was so strong it knocked anyone standing to the ground, causing skyscrapers and buildings in the city to sway so bad it was visible from the lookout.
The sound of people screaming and crying was all that could be heard over the constant ringing.
Jack looked to Sara and reached out to hold her as she cowered with her eyes still glued to the horrifying sight. But as he did, he felt an incredible pressure build in his head.
He jerked back pulling at his own hair, glancing at Sara it looked like she was dealing with the same phenomenon. Jack tried to fight it but all he could do was let out a guttural scream that blended in with all the others as spots formed in his vison, the pain increased by the second.
In his blurred vison as he writhed in pain on the ground, it looked like everyone else had stopped moving. Seconds that felt like hours later, the pain was just too great, Jack slumped over the rock next to Sara. She had long before him succumbed to the pain and blacked out.
