The Manual To The Gate

The Manual To The Gate

What is The Collector?

This section of the prelude will include how this story works, think of it as a manual to the virtual reality my main character will be immersing himself into, but being in a 3rd person style. It will not be detailed at all as I have some plans for my story.

The Collector will be set in the virtual reality game known as ‘The Gate’ which was created by the company known as Phoenix Fire Studios, the current leaders in hardware and software. They achieved this by hiring an individual simply known as ‘The Engineer’ only the higher ups in Phoenix Fire Studios know his real name.

Anyway lets get this started shall we?

Table of Contents:

Combat System

Magic System

Stats and Classes

1. Combat system

In ‘The Gate’ there are three main types of combat styles, these are automated, semi-automatic and manual

Automated which does exactly what it says it does takes control over the avatar and performs a action perfectly, though the damage is reduced due to the game being advertised as if you do it yourself you will be rewarded.

The second is Semi-automatic which when using any attack or skill it will show you a red-dotted line in the path in-order to use that skill or attack so for example a downward slice would have a red-dotted line going down the POV relative to the position of the attacker. A sewing skill would have a dotted line going around the edge of it with spaces and on the other side will have another dotted-line but  would be where the spaces for the front side would be. This form of action takes into account of your proficiencies and stats to deal the damage or the quality of object created.

Manual is the final and as it names suggests allows users to take full control over their avatars with no guideline to help so they can utilise 100% of their proficiencies and stats to create and object, do an action or deal damage.

The author's content has been appropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.

2. Magic System

The magic system will be explained within a book inside of the new world ;) look forward to it.

3. Stats and Classes

Stats in ‘The Gate’ is everything they govern how strong someone is, how intelligent someone is and everything, they have no limit well, the limit is 10000 on the core stats which include Strength, Perception, Endurance, Charisma, Intelligence, Agility, Luck and Wisdom. (Yesh I know SPECIAL+W but it is a great system from fallout, well minus the wisdom part)

Then there's the minor stats, each one unique in its own way, some similiar to others like Divinity and Faith, where divinity is how close to a divine being, faith is how much you believe in a divine being or two.

A single character can only have 22 stats. oh yeah and stats can transform so for example Faith can potentially transformed into Divinity or Divine Affinity.

For classes however it is slightly different to your bog standard game where classes determine everything. In ‘The gate’ classes only influence in the play style and gives bonuses towards certain stats and proficiencies, for example someone with the warrior class will have +10 stat points to strength, 50% more attack damage and the ability to increase melee weapon proficiencies faster, whereas a mage with the affinity towards light magic will have a +10 to intelligence or wisdom, which a character can choose upon gaining the clas, faster magic related proficiencies increments and depending if the class is based upon a certain affinity like nature will gain 15% more affinity towards nature.

Oh and I forgot to mention classes don’t restrict equipment, any one can use any form of weapon, magic unless it is race specific which ties us nicely into the next section known as Races of ‘The Gate’.

All other information will be in-game.
