A howl pierces the silence of the night. Wakes me up. Anger, pain, resignation, hope? He calls me. I feel all this from that howling, do I recognize it, Wolfy? Worried, I get up and get dressed quickly. My clothes fit tight, not enough for my six-feet of high. I run down the stairs, take the ax for the wood in front of the door, you never know what goes around at night, and I rush into the forest.
The forest is lit only by the light of the full moon, but I have been crossing it for years, I know where I must go, there are no insecurities in my steps, the forest speaks to me, the path has already been traced. I hear Wolfy howling, I feel the urgency, I start to run faster, the trees are now blurred shadows, they come together into a single one. After an indefinite amount of time, I see it. His beautiful, night-like fur strewn with cuts and bites, covered in blood, most of it not his own though, doesn't smell like him.
Wolfy was raised for his early years with me, we are companions, we are like brothers, even though we are man and wolf. When I was 7 I accompanied my father to cut wood in the forest. On the way back I found him in a cave, next to his dead mother and brothers, so I took him and took him home with me. Old enough I let him go and live in the forest, in his natural habitat, he was too oppressed in the village and the other inhabitants were afraid of him, it was not his place in their opinion. After a few days, he found a pack and later became Alpha, subduing the previous one. His pack grew to become the strongest and subsequently the only one, no one could compete with Wolfy, neither in strength nor wisdom, his rank was unquestionable, until this fateful evening, tonight his rank ended.
The young wolves considered Wolfy old, by now with his ten years he passed the maturity, unsuitable in their eyes; already born when the pack was the strongest, without knowing the entire prowess of my partner, then they decided to challenge him, one by one they came forward. The first challengers fell numerous, without note, all young and without much experience, without the power, they believed they possessed.
Subsequently, the last four challengers came forward, the Alphas of the last packs conquered by Wolfy, despite being the strongest, having defeated all the previous participants, he had spent a large amount of energy, he was no longer at the peak of his strength. In the following three challenges he acquired countless injuries, none too serious, but together they made themselves felt, such that the last challenge put an end to his rank. Out of respect, he was allowed to come to me in the last hour.

I understand what he wants, he is offering me a great reward, the ultimate bond between man and animal.
From now on he will lend me his strength until I am strong enough to give it to him. I'm at a crossroads, leave my village and go and increase my power for him, or stay here and just keep it with me. No, it is not a choice, what he proposed to me is the ultimate bond, the maximum demonstration of trust, I must give him justice, I will leave! I'm sure Dad will understand, he knows how important Wolfy is for me; since we were just the two of us, he was the only one able to fill the void that appeared in my soul after my mother's death.
I get up and with my control over nature, I create a pit. Before going I have to say goodbye to what remains of my partner, no! What remains of the part of me. Created the pit, I place our body in it, I plant an acorn in it from which new life can be reborn and I cover it.
I start running and running, I jump and transform, I am no longer a human, not entirely, I introduce myself, I am Loth Dawn and I am a wolf-kin, a Druid! I howl and disappear into the night.
