The burdens of a human soul

John Bekk liked the darknesses, not because he likes to hide, but because he relished the mysteries it contained.  He loved to act like he was insane, psychotic, etc. However, he was quite sane, at least in his mind. It was true his spirit was not dictated by the burdens of human conscience. In his world, there was no virtue or vice, no black or white and shades of gray. There was only Him and Darkness. He found delight in the miseries of others and experienced pure pleasure when he saw them bleed.

That all transformed when he murdered his last living relative; Caleb Bekk. You see, Caleb Bekk had an inexplicable tie to the spiritual plane. This connection had been relinquished to John. John's connection remained latent, because of the circumstances of his birth.  He was born without a soul. I am in no way declaring that every Psychotic individual is born without a soul, but this was the situation for John. When Caleb died, it opened his connection with the other side. Because of the nature of his fathers' death, things got complicated and the boy received his fathers' soul. The only reason that this had worked was because of the family gift. Any other mortal would have died a terrible death. John did endure horrible things. He relived EVERY second he spent torturing others. He experienced every image and every agony he had inflicted. For the first time in his fifteen years, he was overwhelmed by remorse. He remembers what it felt like to feel powerful but no longer felt it...

He appeared to miles away from where he had murdered his father. His father... Even after all he had done Caleb had tried to help him. Why? John still didn't understand human nature, even after gaining a soul. He had done unspeakable things, and yet the man showed him compassion? John had to somehow begin to make up for all that he did. Some basic part of him knew that he would never completely make up for the suffering he caused. Against all logic, he must try.

He was still battling with the dark side of himself, just because he gained a soul doesn't mean that the corruption faded...no. Where would he go? He was fifteen years old and had no family left because he had murdered them all. What John didn't know is that he did indeed have a place left to go. They were family and they weren't. Let us not get into the extensively complicated family tree. The point is they had been cut off from his bloodline for quite a while. That is why Caleb Bekk had no knowledge of his gift. What John also did not know was that they were hunting him and they were about to find him.

Crunch! an arrow landed in his chest, but it had just missed his heart. Don't think that this was a fluke, Valencia O'Clery was a marksman, she never missed.

" Finally caught you, bastard." She stared at him expectantly but he just sat there looking at the shaft. He looked up...
