“What the hell is going on out here,” Faron yelled, slamming the door open!
“Magic, Baby, Magic,” I chuckled, weakly lifting up my mana new toy.
Running up and snatching the knife from my hand, Faron examined it carefully before saying, “This...this is amazing!”
“Nah it still needs some work.”
“No, I mean this is actually amazing,” Faron said in awe, “I’ve heard of this ability from a single passerby, but EVEN then they only heard stories about it.”
“Ha, I knew it, I am amazing,” I laughed, taking the knife back, “Now, how about the two of us see what this baby can do!”
“Oh yes PLEASE,” Faron cheered, running for a practice sword.
Getting into our normal places facing each other Faron reminded me, “Remember that’s a knife, not a sword.”
“I got it I got it,” I dismissed waving him off but I knew I was just praying for something cool to happen.
Bending my knees slightly, I dropped the knife to my side just barely holding it parallel to the ground.
With a pleased smile nodded signifying Go.
With the signal made I dashed forward going for a slash in his midsection.
Simply dropping his sword to block my knife the cool thing happened. My knife hit the sword cutting a few centimeters deep.
As both of us stood there in awe Faron lifted up his sword taking the knife right out of my hands still sticking out of the sword.
I swear his smile twisted into something evil as he realized I was unarmed. Taking advantage of that he proceeded to smack the shit out of my arm with my own knife still in the sword.
“Even with your fancy toys, you are still no match for the mighty me.” Faron joked as I sat there rubbing my arm.
“You won by stupidity,” I groaned.
“Yeah, you’re own.”
“But my thing got stuck!”
“WELL IF YOU LISTENED AND DIDN’T DO WHAT I SAID TO IT WOULDN’T HAVE GOTTEN STUCK,” Faron bellowed, “You tried to take my sword head-on with a knife. My sword is WOOD and wood is a tenacious bastard so no wonder it got stuck.”
“True.”
“Don’t true me!”
“Both of us know I do what I want,” I announced, “Also guess what time it is!”
“What time is it?”
“CLASS TIME!”
“Oh, you’re gonna choose your class?”
“YUP!”
“You better choose something good.”
“At least try to be more excited,” I pleaded.
“Fine,” Faron coughed a few times before saying, “OH my GOD LOok at THIs LEgeND!”
“You should get smacked.”
“Do it, Classes.”
I opened my mouth to retort but realized picking my class would be better. So I sat down and opened up the little class window.

“Why are there so many,” I groaned into the universe.
“How many do you have,” Faron asked?
“I don’t know, uh like six, why?”
Faron’s eyes opened wide before yelling, “YOU HAVE SIX CHOICES ON YOUR FIRST TRY!?”
“Is that weird?”
With the deepest breath, I have ever seen a man take he yelled, “NORMAL PEOPLE HAVE ONE MAYBE TWO DEPENDING ON WHAT YOU LEARNED, IT'S NOT UNCOMMON TO HAVE THREE! BUT APPARENTLY YOU’RE TOO GOOD FOR THAT AND HAVE SIX!”
“Now that seems impressive,” I smiled, “But I do have a question.”
“WHAT!?”
“First, calm down there is no need to yell. Second, what is with the different modifiers?”
“Modifiers,” Faron’s eyes started to show a little bit of horror, “You do mean like, novice or initiate right?”
“Yeah! But there’s an apprentice one.”
Falling to his knees, Faron put his head in his hands, head bowed.
“Uh, Faron, you ok there, Buddy,” I carefully asked, laying my hand on his shoulder.
“Just! FUCKING! Peachy!”
“You don’t seem too fine.”
“I’m sorry I just wasn’t expecting to be in the same room as a damn legend today,” He said through gritted teeth.
“You do know you have to explain what’s wrong right?”
“THAT MAKES IT EVEN WORSE! YOU DON’T EVEN KNOW HOW GOOD THAT IS!”
“I understand that feeling,” I laughed weirdly.
“WHY DON'T YOU LET ME GIVE A LESSON,” Faron yelled before standing up and pacing as he spoke, “The lowest modifiers are novice, initiate, and apprentice in that order. Each stage means something different. For novice it’s one extra stat point and 10% increases to things, while initiates give two extra stat points and a 20% increase, and so on and so on.
“Now why that matters, well classes work on a slot system. This is where you have a certain number of slots you can fill and each of these slots can only be upgraded or changed four times before they’re stuck.”
“So what if someone doesn’t get a good modifier on their first try?”
“Well then if that happens they can choose to continue that class line in another slot. The only problem with that is the bonuses won’t overlap. So let’s say someone uses one class slot to take them to journeyman level, then they choose to use their other class slot for the expert version of that class, the bonuses they would get would only come from the expert one and not both the journeyman and expert.”
“Ok ok, so what I’m getting is that the better the modifier at the start makes a better foundation for you to move up,” I stated.
“Exactly,” Faron agreed.
“So I AM amazing then,” I announced giving him a prideful look.
“You better simmer down there,” Faron said.
“Or what, Pretty Boy.”
Faron answered it real quick with a hard smack to my arm, sending a stinging sensation throughout my arm.
“WILL YOU STOP SMACKING ME!”
“STOP BEING DUMB!”
“IT’S A MEDICAL CONDITION!”
“Just choose your god damned class, and what did you even get?”
“Well from highest to lowest monster tamer, two apostle classes, wizard, spellsword, and swordsman,” I read off.
“Wow, I didn’t take you for the religious type,” Faron chuckled.
“The only god I’ve worshipped is me.”
“Then how’d you get two apostle classes,” Faron said, “Riddle me that.”
“I don’t know, maybe the gods are lowering their standards.”
“I believe that. The past few priest and paladins that came through here were some high and mighty pricks.”
“Exactly,” I smiled, “Now what should I pick?”
“The apprentice level class.”
“That seems about right, Monster Tamer here I come.”
After the thought of choosing Monster Tamer came to mind a bunch of prompts popped up.
[-Apprentice Monster Tamer: No longer in the dark you start making your own discoveries, chasing your path.]
[-You may choose one skill]
[-Lesser Monster Space: A small pocket dimension that allows all familiars level 25 and below to inhabit their perfect environments.]

So instantly I chose Lesser Familiar Telepathy and took a nice look at my new status screen.
